There are deep undertones of homophobia in this that come along when men sexualize everything including their own children. When he says “I don’t cuddle boys that’s Mom’s job” he’s saying that he doesn’t actually believe the boys shouldn’t be cuddled but that as a man he can’t do it. The unspoken phrase there is “because that’s gay” and I think it’s incredibly sad
