There's something kinda funny about how RWBY just absolutely refuses to die despite a constant stream of adversity. The first season was objectively hot garbage but it still got a second season. The creator of the series whose passion project the whole thing was passed away in a freak accident after the second season but they just kept going without him and somehow a significant portion of the fanbase went along for it. The budget got slashed in Season 5 because of gross mismanagement but no worries! The fans stuck with it and they got it back for Season 6. Then a few seasons later the entire company that's been producing it went completely tits up and we all assumed THAT would be the end but nope!!! They got bought by Viz. RWBY has now outlived both the man who dreamt it up and the company that produced it. In an era where numerous streaming shows get axed after one or two seasons despite being critical successes with large fanbases it is completely baffling that a show that is so consistently troubled and infamously has an extremely mixed reception cannot be fucking ended despite all indications to the contrary. Leading anime, manga producer VIZ Media has teamed with The Gotham Group to develop film and television adaptations based its original IP.
VIZ Media, a leading global producer of anime, manga and original graphic novels, has teamed with The Gotham Group to develop film and television adaptations based on titles from its original intellectual property. The deal includes the company’s acclaimed VIZ Originals graphic novel line and its landmark animated RWBY franchise.
VIZ is behind some of the most prestigious anime brands in the industry, including One Piece, Demon Slayer, Naruto, and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Under the agreement, The Gotham Group—whose credits include Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Search for WondLa, Washington Black, the Maze Runner franchise and biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere—will identify and package projects drawn from VIZ Media’s library of original IP.
At the heart of the collaboration is RWBY, created by the late Monty Oum. Since its debut in 2013, RWBY has amassed more than 350 million views globally while expanding into publishing, video games, consumer products and multiple spinoffs, including RWBY: Ice Queendom and two Justice League x RWBY animated crossover films.
Widely recognized as the first anime series produced in the United States—and the first Western-produced anime to be dubbed and distributed in Japan—RWBY helped pave the way for a new generation of globally developed anime-inspired storytelling.

So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing

i think ppl would be a lot happier and better-adjusted on here if they realized that being online on a website is like being in any other casual public space full of people. if u walk into walmart u dont immediately think to yourself “i have to be friends with everyone in this walmart and if not everyone likes me i’m a failure” and u really shouldn’t feel that way online either. likewise if there’s a guy in the walmart parking lot shouting obscenities u probably wouldn’t answer him and that’s literally an exact equivalent to some of the weird stuff that people on here seem to feel they’re obligated to respond to.
