I know you are a man of honor. I'm so sorry to bother you at home. But I don't know where to go, and I came here all alone.
He’s not expectant of visitors (rather, is a great deal far from in the mood for them). And yet for some inexplicable reason does the unforeseen knock at his door and disrupt an otherwise pleasant evening spent by his oneself. That in which he’s already engaging, filling his belly with brandy and agonizing over every possible issue to plague all souls in Cornwall (or rather simply those with souls about which to be concerned in the first place). The knock cuts through his distant ruminations of so dark a variety, and Ross Poldark stiffens where he sits. Looks with hardly subtle reluctance to the door. And with even less subtle reluctance rises to answer.
The gentleman is wont to blanch at the start; indeed, he believes he’s had a touch more than his proper fill of his supply if this is who stands before him. “Oliver, what the devil—” But he blinks and tugs firm on his waistcoat: a gesture thereafter complemented by the still lacking in all subtlety noise of disquiet in his throat. “Tankard—sir.” The show is for no one—if not himself. He feigns a stiff formality with the dip of his head. “Rather late an hour, is it not? Or contrarily early for one kept busy with his employer’s demands?”
//sticks leggy out real far 3 years later okay first of all: No, I’m not “making a triumphant return” or anything but I did want to kinda like... return to this blog very briefly for some hint of closure and say a few things to anyone who still has some weird sense of loyalty to my dumb ass and is still around.
I loved my experience on this blog so damn much, okay?
this is the one blog I find myself constantly looking back on over any other blog I’ve had. I’m able to see just from the posts and my interactions just how much fun I had here, and it’s the sort of fun I don’t think I’ve experienced on a blog in a really long time. When I feel down, I browse through everything here and am able to smile to myself and remember just how much enjoyment I felt because I was writing with such lovely, talented people and we all had so much fun (whether it be through the immense amount of crack that... honestly wasn’t even really crack or simply hanging out in Poldark streams together).
I loved it so much, fam. It’s one of those experiences I don’t think I can relive so much as just look back on wistfully, nostalgically; but whew it meant so much to me, okay? This blog, this character, all of you who wrote with me while I was here... CLUTCHES CHEST.
It’s a time passed, but a time i adore with all my being.
I hope any of you who were once writing with me are doing well (if you so happen to see this post), and if anyone wants to reconnect, shoot me an IM and we can exchange discord usernames. I’ll check back in a couple times before setting this blog to rest.

“Mr. Tankard, you are going to HURTyourself–”
apurekindness:
A small smile curved her lips upwards as she listened to his words about Doctor Choake; even in the few days she had been living in Cornwall, she knew that Captain Poldark did not see eye to eye to a great many individuals. Doctor Choake, was seemingly one of them. Yet when he mentioned that she seemed more than qualified for the title, her smile turned more shy.
“Thank you…yet I fear you are one of only few that believe so,” she acknowledged, before an eyebrow raised in a slight challenge of his next words. “Is that so? May I ask, what other things?” she questioned, rather intrigued as to what he was thinking.
A faint laugh escaped her at the Captain’s words regarding rumours, and she nodded in agreement. Certainly, it seemed that the vast majority of Cornish inhabitants were convinced that she was a murderess, which - to anyone who knew the violence-hating woman - was entirely ridiculous. “I am not quite accustomed to receiving such attention,” she admitted, with a wry smile. “Perhaps it will alleviate somewhat over time.”
Surprise flitted over her features at Captain Poldark’s request, and she placed some of her vials back into the basket to allow him space to join her. “Of course. I believe I have done all I can for them, today.”
In the wake of a momentary shyness that brushed across her lips, his smile curved enough to crease his eyes, AMIABLE and visibly delighting in both her company and the reaction his words brought. He granted a mere huff of a laugh in the moments following, chin dipping for but a beat so that curls further framed his face--hid his GRIN. With a shake of his head, the dark of his eyes found hers again, amused and alight with an inkling of MISCHIEF.
“Truthfully, Miss Oakley, I’ve talked to you for hardly a moment and you are an immensely greater ENJOYMENT than our good Doctor Choake could ever endeavor to be,” he answered, and his own brow lifted in a short jerk to mirror hers. Ross nodded his gratitude at her deliberate removal of the vials, taking the chance to slide into his seat beside her. “Perhaps you’ve yet the hope for DECENT rumors, should they even exist, given your far more AGREEABLE demeanor.”
Of course, the majority of gossip swelling through the mass had doubtlessly began by the tongues of the PRIVILEGED who turned up their noses at anything beyond the ordinary. At the very least, those receiving her aid without a scowl were nothing but APPRECIATIVE.
“I wouldn’t worry yourself too strenuously, regardless. You’re well-perceived by those who MATTER; I’m not so UNAWARE of that.”
*Passing kiss on the cheek.*

Dear Ross Poldark, yes I also miss our talks. Stop breaking the law, just try to take deep breaths, and go on walks. I'm sending pictures of the most amazing trees, you'll be obsessed with all my forest expertise. Dude, I'm proud of you, just keep pushing through. You're turning around, I can see. Sincerely, me.
