I think it’s supposed to be a mark of the Trojans being treated as second-class citizens in Crete. I did some googling and it seems that tattoos in ancient Greece were used in a punitive way and given to enslaved people, criminals, and prisoners of war, so maybe a nod to that? (This article has some info on it.)

That's a v informative link (it also mentions that tattoos were seen positively in Thracia - see Orpheus, who is Thracian and tattooed) and a very likely explanation. There are just two things giving me pause:

Nax was supposedly killed at the sacking of Troy, and so dead in the eyes of the Cretan government, yet he still sports a tattoo. did his own people give it to him so he'd stand out less in the community?

Prue has been in the Underworld for a long time (she refers to Caeneus and Riddy as young, yet he's been dead for 10 years, which implies that's not a considerable amount of time to her), and Troy can't have been sacked more than what, 20-30 years ago (do we have an exact date?), and she has a tattoo, which means that either she died post war (objectively, not v long ago!), or that she had the tattoo prior to the war...

I'm a huge lover of tattoos, so I instantly honed in on the many adorning Orpheus. That and EVERYTHING in this show has a hidden meaning/nod to the myths. So every tat they gave him was a symbolic choice. And there's nothing I love more then delving into symbolism.

I haven't managed to identify them all properly, but for those I have, there's Atlas, the Titan who bore the sky aloft, the personification of endurance. A quality Orpheus will prove to have in droves and evidently values.

What I'm presuming are two nods to Eros, Orpheus loves love after all. (Though part of me would love it if the winged youth carrying a heart is a wink wink to Calais. It would be so on brand for this man to permanently etch every great love he's had onto his skin.)

The lyre tattoo leads on to an encircled leaf... Which I'm thinking could be an intertwined music note, laurel leaf and a sun, paying homage to Apollo, who Orpheus has close connections to in mythology. Whether that's true or not in the series, it makes sense for a musician to pay tribute to the god of the arts.

I 'think' he also has a heart, a doorway, a book (which could be a reference to Calliope), a balloon and an R (Obviously for Riddy). He also has an inscription over his left pec. If anyone with the tec savvy can identity what it says, I shall be forever grateful. 🙏 Anywho, please feel free to jump in with your own thoughts/opinions! 😁
