The Bell Jar || Vivie + Phoenix
Vivian only just noticed the person she was now in the arms of when he started speaking. Phoenix. Of all the people who could’ve walked in and seen her so decrepit, it had to be one one of the few people left who she hadn’t embarrassed herself in front of. Too bad. She was dying. She didn’t have a choice. Her hands still joined at her chest, that was heaving up and down, fighting for a full breath. “I ne-need hel-help,” she heaved out. What did this mean? Did she want to live now? Did this mean she was out of one hospital and into an other? Somehow, all these questions crackled into her mind, even though her consciousness was slowly slipping away, and she feared it would be indefinite.
Phoenix was in full panic mode at this point. Obviously, she needed help. That didn't really help him determine what was happening though. He noticed that Vivian was starting to wilt, and that's when he just lost control of his thoughts and his body took over. He picked the girl in his arms up and ran through the halls looking for a doctor. When he couldn't find any, he dashed to the kitchen. He held Vivian with one arm as he called an ambulance. When he hung up, he ran outside, clutching Vivian tight in his arms, as he waited for help to arrive.
Nighttime Encounter // Sonia & Phoenix
Not expecting him to suggest a movie marathon at this time of night, Sonia stares at him blankly for a few seconds before nodding. She had been wanting to see all of the movies she had missed out on while being ‘perfect’. The boy in front of her was going to grant her wish and that made her feel quite happy. Her blush had not faded from her face deepened ever so slightly. Was Phoenix trying to make her blush with these ‘Queen’ comments? “I’m not a queen…” Far from one.
Pumping an excited fist into the air, Phoenix hopped up from his spot on the couch and crouched down in front of the television set. He opened the doors to the small cabinet that had the DVDs in it and began to look through all the titles, his index finger brushing over the spines of all the cases as he scanned for some Disney movies. He looked back over his shoulder and offered Sonia a smile. "No, maybe not a queen to the outside world. For I myself am but a lowly peasant out there as well. But down here, in our kingdom, on our couch throne, we are monarchs."
Scars fade;
That sounds appropriate. I’m Landon, by the way.
I live to help. I'm Phoenix, nice to meet you.
Scars fade;
Skin feels like parchment.
Maybe you should use some lotion or something then?
The Bell Jar || Vivie + Phoenix
Vivian’s chest was tightening up. This is just a panic attack, she kept telling herself, repetitively, it’ll be over soon. She took deep breaths and knelt in front of her bed, her hand clutching her chest, desperate for air. She’d never had a panic attack like this. Her panic attacks were usually just shaking and maybe a little hyperventilation. Never this. Never chest pains, and never all the nerve pain, and never the lack of ability to breathe. She was getting scared-which of course only made it hurt worse. She tried to think of what to do through all the murkiness in her mind. She couldn’t get help because one; she’d look pathetic, and two; her doctors would know she was having panic attacks. She couldn’t deal with any more medicine. It was too manipulative to the brain, she was basically a vegetable, and she couldn’t help but wonder why anyone wanted her alive when she was so obviously useless?
She tried to pull herself up onto the bed, and felt a sharp pain pulsating in her left shoulder. That was it. She now felt she was dying. Everything was blurry and she couldn’t move and everything hurt- her chest hurt- and she couldn’t breathe. The idea of dying right then and there was repulsive- almost curingly. She couldn’t stand, even in such a frantic, hasty, fragile state, that after almost twenty years of fighting with every ounce of herself for a reason to live that she would be reading a poetry book in her room and then be eaten up by nothing. Vivian had never felt loneliness. She’d always been so in love with her solitude. She’s been depressed, felt awful- awful beyond all- but had never imagined that a person, or any amount of people for that matter, could walk into her solitude and cure the awful feeling vineing around her body. But now- this desperate need for someone to walk into that room and save her from this awful feeling- this was the ultimate loneliness. A loneliness she wasn’t prepared for. With every last fighting ounce of energy in her body, Vivie held up a fist and pounded aggressively on the door, praying that everyone had done come in from skating on the lake so that someone- anyonewas there to help her.
With it being an unusually quiet night, Phoenix roamed the halls in search of something interesting to do, or someone to talk to at least. He felt as if he'd walked the grounds three times already by the time he gave up and trudged through the dormitory hallways once again, meaning to go back to his room. He stopped in his tracks when he heard a banging on one of the doors. He walked up to it and paused before opening it, not sure what was on the other side. "Hello?" he called through it, only to be met with more banging. Concerned, he opened the door carefully, as to not hit whoever was on the other side of it, to find Vivie on the ground. "Oh, God. Are you alright?" he asked urgently, cringing at the stupidity of the words as soon as they left his mouth. Of course she wasn't. He dropped to his knees beside her and scooped her up in his arms. "What's the matter?" he was beginning to panic. This wasn't what he was expecting when he was looking for something "interesting" to occupy his time.
We can just take a rain check on that.
Good, gives me time to find someone to teach me how to sing.
In that case, please call me Javert.
Don’t forget my name.
Are we going to have a musical duel?
Cause I've never sung before, it'd probably be bad.
I’m Doctor Shepard, you can call me Leon.
And you are?
I'm Phoenix, you can call me patient number 24601.
Good thing you’re in a madhouse.
You're right, there.
Now you’re prepared for marriage.
Don’t say stupid things.
Marriage.
I'd need to find a girl crazy enough to want to even date me first.
Best to just forget I said anything at all.
Hmm? Did you say something?
Thank you, otherwise she might hit you.
And Lord knows I'm not down to get smacked.
And that was a very stereotypical joke, don’t tell it to my wife.
Promise I won't.
Nighttime Encounter // Sonia & Phoenix
"We still have to watch… Disney movies, I think you called them?" Sonia told him, mentally adding ‘Narnia’ to the movie list she was going to have to watch sooner or later. The small blush that had gone away with the ‘war’ came back at full force at Phoenix’s decree. "…Queen?" Was the shy response.
"Yes! Yes the Disney movies!" Phoenix exclaimed, his eyes widening at the reminder. Was Narnia a Disney movie? He couldn't remember. He shrugged away he thought before looking toward the TV then back at Sonia. "Well, we've got everything we need down here for some Disney movies. I know they've got a few down here...are you up for it?" he asked with a smile. He noticed the blush creep back up to Sonia's cheeks and tried his best to keep his smirk fro forming. He was starting to like the look of it on her face. "Yes, but of course. My queen."
How are all of you wonderful people?
So I see Blaze hasn’t come out to play in a little while.. That’s a good thing.
I do my best to keep him away...
