Dear Tim Burton,
Throughout the course of this movie, I have been consistently disgusted by the choices you have made.
As a Chinese girl, who respects the film industry but realises its many, many, flaws in terms of casting people of colour, I am astounded that in a day and age where unnecessary abuse is still made towards black people by members of authority and the general public alike, that you had the AUDACITY to put a black man in the space of an antagonist who was white, who actively TORTURED and experimented on people and gleefully told the story of how he let a young woman fall to her death. How dare you cast a black man as the antoganist when the protagonists were STRIKINGLY WHITE.
White people saving the world from a black man who had a God complex and wanted power. Who was driven by an urge to kill, willingly abused his sister as a child and told the story of how he wanted the world to be ruled by peculiars once more.
Yes, I am bitter, because this is how it goes, and you just sat back and smiled proudly at your work. I hope you’re happy with what you’ve done, because I’m certainly not.
