“The room is quiet, filled only with the soft rustling of sheets and the steady rhythm of their breathing. Kassidy lays draped over Spencer, her cheek resting on his chest, her fingers tracing lazy circles over his skin. The golden light of early morning spills through the thin crack in the curtains, painting them both in a warm, amber glow.

Spencer exhales slowly, his hand brushing up her bare back, trailing his fingertips along her spine as if committing every detail to memory. His voice is a low murmur, tentative.

‘Is this... going to change anything?’

Kassidy doesn’t answer immediately. Her eyes are half-closed, her mind torn between the calm of the moment and the storm that awaits outside these four walls. She can feel his heartbeat beneath her ear, steady and grounding, and it makes her ache in a way she can’t name.

‘I don’t know,’ she whispers. Her voice is soft but carries the weight of a thousand unsaid things. ‘I wish I could tell you.’

Spencer swallows, the tension between them thick but not suffocating. He turns his head, his lips brushing against her hair. ‘I don’t want to be a regret for you.’

‘You’re not,’ Kassidy replies immediately, her hand flattening against his chest, feeling the warmth of him. She lifts her head just enough to look at him, her gaze steady despite the vulnerability in her eyes. ‘You never could be.’”
