no but fr tho it is terrifying how racism is not a dealbreaker for most people like they just say its bad to look politeâŠâŠscary ass people
One of the most fucked up parts of Americaâs for-profit medical system and insurance often being tied to your work is that you cannot work if you are sick and if you are not working, you have no insurance. People are fired in the middle of cancer treatment or a severe mental health episode and suddenly there is no way to pay the hospital and buy the medicine you need. Republicans will outright say âYou donât deserve free healthcare if youâre lazy and unemployed.â anytime someone mentions this, actively ignoring the fact that you often cannot work when you are sick and shouldnât be forced to work when youâre sick to be able to afford to get better.
Your partner actually LIKING you as a friend is important. Romantic love is not enough.
These delectable French Toasts Sticks are pan fried to perfection and rolled in cinnamon sugar. They come together quickly and easily using many ingredients that you may already have on hand.

the concept of MLK Jr. Day & Juneteenth sales by nonblack owned and operated businesses who either dont hire Black American people, underpay and overwork the Black employees they do have, and who donât get the holidays off but their majority nonblack corporate counterparts DO, is a level of present day dystopia bred in necropolitics & the continued cannibalization of Blackness to sustain a zombie economic system thatâs hinged on us as products to work.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
"my life isn't a crime, I'm not one of those people -"
"you sure? new parameters for Those People just dropped. check again."
And if you truly cannot imagine this, if you're convinced that it will never happen to you, consider this one thing.
Would you want scammers to know the state of your loved one's dementia?
Oh. Shit.
I wish I could make white people(and not just white Americans) understand how diverse the pre-columbian Americas were. The history, religion, culture, politics was at least as complex as Europe's. There was the full gamut of religions, from monotheists to animists to ancestral religions. There were city building empires, village farmers, nomadic traders, and so many other ways to live. This is all just based on what we know, the fragments left behind and the stories of survivors of an apocalyptic plague. All this before the most extended campaign of genocide in history was waged in an attempt to wipe out those survivors.
Over 500 years spent trying to cut down a whole trunk of human culture.
Do you understand how much poorer our whole species is because of it? Can you imagine where art, religion, and science would be if we still had these vast bodies of knowledge? The stain of the colonial project will never be fully washed clean. We owe more than just the land to those we stole from. We owe them a whole future, a future that could have been brighter for all of us. If only greed and fear weren't allowed to rule this land.
Occasionally forget people genuinely think capitalism is thousands of years old
One time I was talking about Robin Hood with some coworkers and one guy was like âhe was bad because the people he helped learned to expect handoutsâ and I wanted to be like⊠okay can you explain how that flawed capitalist propaganda applies to feudalism
reminder that capitalism was literally invented in the 16th century
Thatâs an exaggeration. What was invented in the 16th century was mercantilism. Capitalism really dates for the beginning of the nineteenth century, with the rise of industry and cash crops over artisans and merchants. Vulture capitalism, with the notion that companies have no duties other than generating profit, is even younger.
Capitalism is only 200 years old and I have to say, they have not been an impressive 200 years
I think a lot of this comes from the fact that most people donât know the formal definition of capitalism. We all know the word, weâve all seen the jokes, but very few people bother to actually define it unless theyâre talking about political theory and philosophy, so itâs easy to end up with the impression that Capitalism = Money Can Be Exchanged For Goods And Services.
Capitalism is the economic system where most of the means of production (i.e. everything people need to have to make the stuff that everyone wants) are owned by private individuals or corporations, who then hire people to provide the labor necessary to produce things, with the intent of selling the output at a profit. Itâs the difference between âyouâre a carpenter and you make a chair and you sell itâ and âyouâre Richard Q. Richington who owns a chair factory, and you pay people to sell the chairs you paid other people to make and then all the excess money goes back to you.â There have been Richard Q. Richingtons on and off throughout history, but that being the norm for every single industry is a pretty recent development.
An alarming amount of people seem to think capitalism = all trade, and I donât think thatâs a coincidence.

aint it crazy how everyone is famous nowadays and yet I dont know who anyone is. there are countless people that will have more followers on instagram than the population of Sacramento and no one I know irl has ever heard of them
You are NOT a queer elder! You are a white 26 year old with a god complex đđđ
also i think there is a larger issue at play here, which is how white-liberal ideology around the construction of "proper" behavior has done a number on how conflict vs. safety, and safety vs. comfort, are conceptualized in collective spaces, where for example any confrontation or interruption to actually address something potentially unsavory is seen as an escalation, borderline an act of violence the way it disrupts everyone having a good time, and "letting it slide"/moving past something/redirection is seen as a de-escalation and the righteous choice of "not taking the bait" or "being the bigger person" or whatever self-pat on the back. that is not what de-escalation is. conflicts and disagreements aren't inherently dangerous, and trying to prevent the existence of conflicts by entirely ignoring the issue because confronting it is uncomfortable and we do not want to "escalate" is not how safety is achieved.
at least can all we agree that the original gay flag with the magic and sex colours is BEAUTIFUL and it should make a comeback
whatâs more iconic than this
What about the final version of the flag by the original creator?
Gilbert Baker added a 9th stripe shortly before his death, with the new stripe representing diversity. He added this stripe in reaction to the 2016 US election. Itâs unfortunately not as well known as the 8 and 6 striped versions.
Hereâs an image of him sewing together the 9 striped rainbow flag.
Happy pride month everyone
