A NOVEL I'LL NEVER PUBLISH II: STARTERS
a collection of quotes, phrases, and sayings from a fantasy novel I wrote back in high school. change & alter as needed.

Devlin grinned at Marianne's reaction to his dogs, their playful energy evident in the room. He appreciated her controlled demeanor, understanding her desire not to overstep any boundaries. As he walked into the room, he closed the door behind him and leaned against it, enjoying the sight of Marianne's interaction with his canine companions.
"They're definitely something, aren't they?" Devlin chuckled, his eyes filled with affection for his furry friends. "I'm glad you're a dog person, Marianne. They have a way of bringing joy and comfort into our lives."
He watched as Marianne squatted down to give one of the dogs a light scritch, her genuine care and attention evident. Her question about their gender made him chuckle again, appreciating her curiosity.
"Well, all of them are boys," Devlin replied, a fond smile on his face. "This one you're petting is Cer, and the other two are Ber and Russ. They've been with me for a few years now. I found them at a local shelter, and we've been inseparable ever since."
As Marianne mentioned having something for him, Devlin's curiosity piqued. He walked closer, his eyes glancing at the item she held in her hand. He extended his hand, ready to receive whatever she had brought.
"What's this?" Devlin asked, his voice filled with intrigue and a touch of amusement. "You have me curious now. I hope it's nothing too dangerous. I wouldn't want my dogs wrestling you to the ground." He chuckled, his eyes glinting with playful banter.
Devlin eagerly awaited Marianne's response, grateful for the lightheartedness she brought into his home and the genuine connection they were beginning to form.
"They're beautiful, absolutely." Despite their size, they were somehow the least intimidating creatures she has laid eyes on, probably all thanks to the training they received. She'd hate to be on their bad side, though, sweet as they may appear at the moment. "Unlike cats, who are nothing but trouble," she added to his remark, rather drily but in jest. To be fair to the feline race, there are some of them Marianne found tolerable, rare as they may be. But in terms of overall disposition, she would always prefer dogs. "Sadly, I don't think I could keep a dog with my lifestyle. Oh but my old boy is with my family - he's 10 now." There was a rueful yet resigned tinge to her tone, an practiced acceptance that came with years of doing her task dutifully.
Upon hearing what Devlin chose to name the "Cer, Ber, and Russ. Seriously? You're not one for subtlety, are you?" "Rescues? Somehow I was worried they came straight from the Underworld. Oh but you're too adorable for that, right," she asked, first to the owner, then shifted to the dogs themselves, from whom she could barely take her hands off, her longing for her own pet probably evident to the onlooker.
"It's just food, don't worry. Some coxinhas I made for my birthday. I cooked too many, let's just say, and I'd hate for it to just go bad in the fridge." Which it was bound to. And between her night patrols and her hyperfocus on paintings whenever she gets breaks, she'd probably would just find it spoiled during her weekly cleanup. "I suppose the only danger in that is I didn't bring enough and you'd be looking for more."
Marianne stretched, giving each dog one last pat before straightening up again. "Actually, that's not the only reason I came by," she admitted, as if unable to keep the fact that the food was just an excuse. "I have a favor to ask of you and it's not necessarily a small one."

She has no memory of pressing call but she remembered toying with the idea some hours ago (probably, the low light has turned into complete darkness through her blinds), her finger hovering indecisively over names on her phone as she slumped in her sofa. Dirt and blood - not hers or another persons', thankfully - caked her clothes, but Marianne did not have the will nor care to pull them off her.
Jules would disapprove of it - being dependent on someone - but Marianne couldn't deny its appeal now that it was on the table, even if it meant that (1) that someone was Jules and (2) Jules having something on her. Or so the wicked witch of the west seemed to think. What she needed the information she was keeping for, Marianne could not fathom.
Speaking of the evil witch, Jules was now strolling in her kitchen like she owned it and ordering her around, which would have pissed Marianne off but apparently, she did call her and the fact that she could barely haul her arse off the chair meant she had even less energy to be offended in any way. Her feet took her as far as the kitchen counter, leaving a trail of muddy footprints in her wake before taking a seat right beside where the witch was working. Marianne laid her head over folded arms, looking up at Juliana.
"Is it seven years of bad luck for ruining your beauty rest?" she drawled lazily, eyes still fixed on her friend, offering a reason Jules did not even ask for. Which Marianne thought was nice of her. "It was a butt dial." Nuzzling her head against her own arms, her voice was muffled as she spoke once more. "Thanks for coming anyway."
btw its always morally correct to reblog your own art or writing onto the dash. you are always right to do this. and if people get annoyed then too bad. this is not a satire post or sarcastic this is genuine. reblog your works. and every time someone complains that you reblog your own stuff too much do it again. be proud of what you create.
