Imogen’s father was a big shot editor, and her mother was a soap opera star. They met on set of her mother’s show and fell head over heals for each other. Two years later they were married, and four months after that Imogen was born. Leading a privileged life, Imogen and her brother, Braxton, had anything and everything they could possibly want. Imogen was eight years old when her world was turned upside down for the first time. Her parents’ marriage – which she had always thought to be solid, if not perfect – completely fell apart. They’d always had their differences, but the last straw for Imogen’s mother was finding out that Gerard had been sleeping with one of their female neighbors. The divorce was especially ugly, with both Gerard and his estranged wife throwing the other under the bus. In the end, joint custody was awarded. Imogen and her brother spent summers with their father and the school year with their mother. For a time, things were perfectly fine and relatively normal. Of course, it didn’t stay that way for long. In 2011, when Lux was twelve, her brother died in a car accident.
The loss of her brother deeply affected Imogen. Having been born only a year and a few odd months apart, they were extremely close. They were more like twins than anything, really. What bounded them together even more was going through their parents’ divorce. At the time, it felt like they had no one else to turn to but each other. They suffered through the yelling and screaming by telling each other stories in whispers and often fell asleep in each others beds. This was an experience that would bind them together for life. Or, rather, the duration of Braxton’s life. After his death, Imogen refused to speak for weeks. She was in shock, unsure of what to do next with her life. Eventually, when she did speak again, she became bitter, cynical and cold, throwing out sarcastic quips whenever anyone tried to speak to her. Eventually she got mixed in the party scene and began throwing her life away to drugs, alcohol and sex. She takes stupid risks and does ignorant things, because in all honesty, she doesn’t want to be alive without her brother. She doesn’t have a reason to be alive without her brother.
Laidback but guarded, a party girl but a loner. Imogen is, in a few words, a walking contradiction. The fiery brunette won’t take crap from anyone. She’s not afraid to start a fight if she has to. However, it takes a lot to make her angry and get her to that point. She’s laid back about almost everything, and really go-with-the-flow in regards to life. Especially when she’s drunk or high. Still, she’s guarded in that she doesn’t wear her emotions on the sleeve. She prefers to keep them close to her heart, and protect her feelings with a witty comment or superficial jabber. It’s not that she’s heartless, because she actually feels things so much so that it physically hurts her. But she just doesn’t trust anyone to see that side of her. She doesn’t want anyone to see her vulnerable. The number of people that she trusts to know how she really feels can be counted on one hand. Maybe even one finger. Those people get to see the more sensitive, introspective side of Imogen: the side that sits around in Batman boxers, wondering about the universe while she smokes a bowl of weed and eating Captain Crunch. She comes off as breezy and unaffected by everything, but she’s really a very thoughtful, introspective individual.
+ adventurous, witty, passionate
- moody, cynical, impulsive
→ muse a: Childhood best friends. Braxton, Imogen and Muse A were like the terrible trio. Their parents were friends, and so they spent plenty of time together. Muse A was also deeply affected by Braxton’s death, and tried to reach out to Imogen so they could deal with the pain together. But Imogen refused to return the sentiment, and completely withdrew from the friendship. They’ve grown farther and farther apart, to the point that they hardly ever even talk to each other anymore.
→ muse b: The friends with benefits. Imogen and Muse B have been hooking up for about a year now. They don’t have feelings for each other, and it’s strictly a way to get away from the pain for a little while. They usually get drunk or high and then one thing leads to another.
→ muse c: Best friends. He’s a horrible influence on her, always getting her to drink or do drugs or jump of cliffs. He’s her dark angel, and she would do anything that he asked her to do. Mostly because she has an itty bitty crush on him.
