Okay, I hated it but I don't think I'm raging about it because I just wasn't surprised by it. They essentially already ruined Marta for me the first time she kissed Cloe and decided to start something with her because I know in my heart of hearts OUR Marta never would. And then the show continued to chip away at what made her great, and by proxy also the legacy of Mafin and what made them special every time she and Cloe got closer (and have obviously continued with this ugly pattern tainting Fina and her return).

I always said I could forgive a lot with Marta if she ever got out of her loser era, and I HAVE forgiven a lot, but I also said I could never go back to being 100% back in love with her after everything nor could I ever forget so for me today just sat inside of that ~8% Loser Marta window that has clung on in there for dear life waiting for another fuck up by her because God forbid they let her be fully loveable again and make it make sense.

The fact that her first time with Cloe and her declarations of feelings for her took place in the exact same spot she and Fina stood together and basically got married and said vows to each other mere months earlier meant that day MY Marta as I knew her died, and while I recognise a lot of her is back and I've found a lot to love about her again, I'll never get over how badly they destroyed her regardless of how the show and/or the Mafin relationship eventually concludes.

I hate that she kissed her back and Fina (OUR Fina at least) would HATE it and while I'm fairly confident there were no feelings of romance or longing or desire on Marta's part whatsoever, it still crossed a big line and that a negative reaction from Fina would be completely valid and even worthy of a fight, if not a whole break up entirely (depending on how Marta responds about it and how much it bothered Fina or how much she would blame Marta considering she did far worse when she first arrived back).

And I do think Marta should feel some guilt and regret and remorse for letting herself go with it, but for me Marta kissing her back today was just an extension of Marta's continued Cloe-related-loser-esq behaviour that has continued throughout Cloe's presence, and actually even more-so since they broke up. Marta's crossed a dozen lines with post-break-up Cloe already; the hugs, holding hands, deep stares, touching her shoulder/arm/face etc and just generally behaving incredibly inappropriately towards an ex - especially one you know is very much still in love with you, and given that season 2-3 Marta is ridiculously incapable of reading a room that even yesterday hugging Cloe so tightly and holding hands right in front of Fina was arguably stupid and unthinking, but annoyingly very on brand for THIS Marta.

However, I think the main purpose of the scene was to serve as a brace-yourself moment for what's to come with Fina and Bianca and potential conversations about hypocricy and trust and boundaries with exes. I don't think it's a coincidence that Marta talked to Cloe today about how she got her out of a dark and lonely place and helped her find some light and happiness again when she thought all was lost and then left a door open for Cloe to get in touch if she ever felt she needed to, which I imagine will parallel and come back to bite Marta in the arse when Bianca shows up and we find out more about how dark and lonely and hopeless Fina's early days in Argentina were when Bianca eventually helped her find her own light and happiness again and Marta has to be understanding about it if she herself used Cloe in the same way.

So while the kiss WAS fucking shitty and completely unnecessary and ugly and gross and like 15 steps backwards, this show continues to SUCK and predictably always choose the wrong option so maybe it's that I'm just numb now (or more likely just so completely broken by the past 10-11 months) that I just feel more indifferent and disappointed yet again instead of outrage.

Today Marta, and the show, can get to fuck, but tomorrow she might be a different person yet again if they decide they need her to be, but I think as I'm already bracing for worst case scenario with this shit show and gave up on my idea of a happy ending for Mafin a long time ago (thanks a bunch Alba interviews!), my current feelings are "que sera I guess". 🤷‍♀️

This actually might have been my favorite part of yesterday’s scene at Fina’s apartment, perhaps solely for that “nahh” which is full of “ok ok maybe” and is so full of old Fina it makes my heart want to burst. I still love them, your honor.
