Well, few people know, but before I decided to dedicate my life to the drawing i went through several difficult times when I came face to face with death. Several sections of chemo forced me to fight a lot for a little joy. And one of those joys was to create stories, to invent characters but could hardly express those ideas by pure physical wear and tear. One day I managed to join forces and tried to draw the characters I had invented during the week, but nothing came out. There was something blocking everything … So I decided to draw the thing that blocked me, and then I made a raven. At the time I did not understand why, it had nothing to do with what I planned but it was done. Some time after finishing the treatment, I began to dedicate myself to art, went to schools, studied courses, did everything i could to be the best artist possible, and i do this nowadays. It was something i also did not understand, a force of will out of the ordinary but that was very useful and still will be. The raven has never come back to my mind, but I’ve recently been reminded of it, not because I’m sick or something, but because of what it did. I do not know for sure what he represents for me, but I felt a strong relationship with death, since it was something that surrounded me for months. He never seemed to be nice to me, nor did he make a point of being, but he did not just have bad things. He was able to show me the fool I was, to dissipate the time of a lifetime doing useless things, hours of video games, meaningless discussions … Anyway he made me who I am today, even he being feared and threatening, I consider him a good company, shows me the value of everything that I have and are.In honor of him I made this art, the raven of death.
