Columbia Heights, Washington, D.C. Casa Blanca (October, 2017) with Smena 8M.

This is one of my favorite buildings in D.C.  I lived in Columbia Heights for a couple years and I would pass this on 16th Street every time I walked to the metro, grocery store, or gym.  This building sticks out like a sore thumb in the neighborhood; 16th Street is lined with old hotels-turned apartments and yet it fits the Spanish overtones of Columbia Heights perfectly.

Perhaps it’s the Miami in me, but I’ve always loved the beach.  And yet, perhaps it’s also the Miami in me, but I can count on my two hands the number of times I’ve been to it in my adult life.  This was taken during a trip with my parents to visit my Aunt.  Shooting film on the beach always ends up being spectacular - the sun, the sand, the waves all blend together in this magnificent cacophony of light blues and tans.

This was taken with expired film, though you can hardly notice from how brilliantly blue the sky was in the first place.  I’m also fortunate that the IS-20 - a gift from my mother - has a fantastic zoom otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to catch this shot of this 747 on final approach to land at Miami International Airport.
