We’ve been getting a lot of inquiries from confused customers so I wanted to take a moment to address this issue. There is an unspoken understanding among indie designers about respecting and protecting each other’s creative property, which is why we’re so disheartened to be alerted to @pixelpaperhearts Toronto Keychain design. Their 416 Toronto Key Tag is pretty much exactly the same as ours. Except we’ve been selling ours for almost two years and theirs came about 6 months ago. Being ripped off hurts regardless of whether it’s by a big box store or by a peer. Actually it stings MORE when it’s by a fellow local small business 💔 Intentional or not, it is up to us as designers to do our due diligence when launching a new product. Figure out what’s already out in the marketplace and whether the same product already exists. If you’re not bringing something fresh to the table, move on to something else.
