As someone who adores Silent Hill, I’ve been thinking about the relatively recent announcements. All in all, I’m cautious since it’s… Konami, but have some optimism.
I think the Silent Hill 2 Remake is about 50/50 on if it’ll be good or not. Trailer was great, but heavily scripted to show some of the original’s most iconic non-spoiler moments and is clearly not representative of whatever the final product may be. If this had been a year ago, I would have dropped a preorder in a heartbeat, but now, I’m going to wait to see the reviews once it comes out.
Between F and Townfall, I have slightly more interest in the former, with the alleged 1960s Japan setting. Again, for both I really need to see more, but I’m at the very least intrigued. Still weirded out that they announced two presumably mainline games at the same time. Unless F is more of a spinoff, which seems kind of likely considering that 1960s Japan kind of implies that Silent Hill the town won’t appear much if at all.
Ascension… It’s going to be crap, isn’t it? Best case scenario, it just won’t be my thing, but in the worst case, it’ll be a total mess. Silent Hill multiplayer just sounds like a bad idea, it doesn’t work as a concept the way that it does witj Resident Evil.
The film is not something I have any interest in on one hand, but on the other, I’m curious to see if they could do a proper adaptation and not more weird nonsense like the previous attempts at loosely retelling the first and third games.
I’m happy to see the franchise return after being dormant for about a decade (and devoid of good installments for almost two) but I’m being very careful here. Capcom pulled off RE’s return with minimal casualties (RE3Make being the only major screw up since 7 in my opinion), but Konami are another beast entirely. I really, truly want everything that releases to be good, but that just isn’t a guarantee, sadly.
lmao, coming back to this:
The remake sucked
F was mid
Townfall looks mid
The movie sucked
Ascension... Did it even come out? I heard nothing about it
What a good use of this franchise, Konami.
