Six years ago, I graduated high school. It was a big deal - I was going through so much shit, that actually surviving and graduating was a major accomplishment. In the countless moves I made in the past six years, I lost the original copy of my diploma and the jacket for it. But now I'm the proud owner of physical proof that things aren't always bad. I suffer from anxiety, and am currently seeing someone to help me manage it better and not let it take control of my life. The last session was about controlling my panic attacks, and the main thing was to breathe. Sounds simple, right? But an extra step was to have an affirmation or mantra to repeat to yourself while you're controlling your breathing. The idea I had was to make a "warm fuzzies" jar, each craft stick a different subject depending on the color. Blue I can't sleep, green when I am nervous, yellow when it's random, etc. When I'm having "a moment" (as I refer to it), I pull out the colored stick and repeat what is written on it as I control my breathing until it's over. #livingwithanxiety #diy #selfcare #iamincontrol

I got up to use the bathroom, then came back to see her in my spot. I can't be mad. One year ago today, my husband and I went to the local Humane Society to donate a a few cans of cat food and decided to look at Animal Services just because we were there. We had no plans of getting a new pet - we were in a small apartment with a cat and hamster already. But we felt the need to go, anyway. In the last kennel that was there, we saw this furry beast staring back at us through the glass. We asked if they could bring her out and we could play with her - and we fell in love. We soon were filling out paperwork to adopt her and went back 3 days later to pick her up. Happy Gotcha Day, Persey.
