I hope you and your followers are doing well, and enjoying the summer so far!
So...a lot has happened, hasn't it? XDDDD
Ramen has a new movie coming out, and he and his character are once again, the topic of discourse, conversation, and everything in between.
As a staunch Steve enjoyer, I've had my own thoughts about his ending arc in Endgame and now return in Doomsday. These are only my opinions, so you all are free to disagree/agree. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense (to me).
Some thoughts (long - feel free to cut/not post). I am biased here, so please keep that in mind 😝:
Personally, I didn't mind how his arc "ended" beecause for some reason, I always assumed it wasn't really a real ending? 😂 Don't ask me why...but I figured that him not not dying when Tony and Natasha did meant something. I think Scarlett never meant to stick around because let's be honest, Marvel did her character dirty anyways, and we all know how they give Robert everything since he's the godfather of the MCU. But one thing the Russos and I seem to agree with: Ramen/Steve is their Trojan Horse. He will always get the masses talking, riled up, no matter good or bad or in between. And I simply don't think they were ready to let that muse go...
I think if they had let it go, Steve could have died on the battlefield against Thanos, just as the dusted crew returned. Sam would be the first to reach him, and Steve would hand him the shield before dying. Steve's story ends with him walking into the afterlife and meeting Peggy. They have their dance. Meanwhile, Falcon & TWS could be the first post-Endgame Disney+ show, and Sam begins his journey towards becoming Cap, while Bucky finds peace and healing post Hydra/WS.
I think they intentionally sent Steve back in time to be with Peggy because it was the easiest way to temporarily get rid of him, while invoking "emotional discourse" that would keep Steve's name alive. It's been seven years, and people still cannot let go of not only his ending arc but also what happened in Civil War. I fully believe The Trolls TM Kevin, Joe, Anthony, Stephen, and Markus are all completely aware of the chaos they created 😭 because they can't tell me they didn't see their names getting @ and screamed at every day on Twitter for the last half-decade.
My suspicions were further fueled by Steve not being confirmed dead in FATWS and Sam avoiding confirming to Joaquin whether or not Steve was on the moon. Nobody spoke of him like he was dead, but more like he was a shadow hanging over them. Marvel Studios, I see you. I believe they've been setting up the Steve returns storyline the entire time, first soft launching it when Ramen was rumored to return during COVID times, then later on after Robert was announced as Doom and the Russos returned to direct DD/SW. I do think Kang was originally slated to happen, but Steve would have eventually returned in Secret Wars regardless. The scrapped Kang storyline just accelerated his return, for better or worse.
My point: I think the Russos and McFeely have been waiting to bring Steve back and explain what happened to him during this time. I *don't* think bringing Steve back is desperate, because he was always meant to come back. Not forever, but just to finish his arc (for real this time). Sam/Anthony is Cap now, and I can see Anthony doing this for a good decade since he's in such good shape, but only if MARVEL actually gives him the proper material to work with.
If Ramen really wanted the cash grab, he could have done cameos in different moments over the last few phases, or even voiced his character in What If, but he didn't. He only came back coincidentally when the Russos did. They come in a trio; I'm convinced of that. And they are using the current discourse, theories, and emotional responses from certain groups to fuel the anticipation for this movie. And you know what? It's working. Hate it or love it, hate-watch or not, people are still paying attention. And guess who is at the center of most of the discourse? A certain guy who everyone thought either got old or died or went back in time or screwed up the timeline by messing with time. Some people are even dissecting "Steve's" hair/face/eyes in detail. Like...is it that serious? I guess it is. 😂
Well done, Ramen. Guess you still got it...even if it means you got them in their feelings.

You are bringing up an interesting topic indeed! Ramen’s time with Marvel that so many denied is about to happen, so I know for me, I am excited!
It’s funny that you mention things not “ending”. I have never been shy about saying I hated the ending and hoped it wasn’t the end. Yay me! I always had it in my head that Steve might have gone back, but Steve didn’t stay back. But I also think too many people disregard Steve’s importance and all that he could know. A man out of time indeed.
Odd to refer to RDJ as a godfather of the MCU because I do think Chris is one as well. While I’m aware that the original duology of Fantastic Four wasn’t MCU, I do think his portrayal (the superior one) as Johnny helped Marvel become more mainstream. And then the success of Captain America continued to make someone want to invest in the stories of the MCU. But one thing you got right, Chris always gets people talking and always gets people’s butts in the seat.
I do also agree that sending Steve back to Peggy was always supposed to be temporary. They didn’t want to kill the character just yet, but I also think Chris was just tired of playing the character. The man did so many stunts and working his body out to that physique could not have been easy. He deserved the break. So it allowed them to develop some characters (not always well) while also allowing Chris to explore other roles, characters, directors, and directions with his acting.
And isn’t it just funny how they were able to keep the character, therefore Chris, in a constant rotation with Marvel. We knew he would be mentioned in TFATWS, but he was also mentioned in She-Hulk, Deadpool 3, and while it’s been awhile since I’ve seen them I’m pretty sure he was mentioned in Multiverse of Madness and even Loki. So yeah, he was always there, lingering in the shadows. It was a matter of time as to when he would return, and I’ve said that for years. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Steve is more important to that timeline than we can even realize yet.
To the naysayers that assume bringing Chris/Steve back is desperate for either side, I don’t think they were paying attention. But if anyone is desperate, it would have been Marvel. But it does make me wonder just how long his return was in the works. I recall dinner, that wasn’t confirmed but that arm looked awfully familiar 🥴 with the Russos in 2022? My mutuals and I have long said that Chris is the Russos muse. I think they enjoy working with him, and he just inspires them.
I do think that Chris/Steve seem to be the biggest conversation concerning the movie. It’s because the teaser trailer didn’t give much. And Marvel is notorious for performing a sleight of hand. I don’t think all we saw in that trailer is as it seems. I don’t trust close ups of faces instead of a full picture. So who is Steve smiling at. Who says hey pal, who is Thor saying “it’s not possible” to? It’s not quite so clear.
And while we’re on the topic of his face in the trailer. It does not match what his face looked like during filming or after filming. So it’s either makeup, lighting, or intentional post VFX work. I do personally think it’s more than the standard de-aging Marvel uses far too often. But just for reference. That man in the trailer is an imposter. I’m calling it now. So let’s ask Bucky.
Mrs. Pasta, as always it’s a joy when you stop by. You’ve given me a chance to fully voice some of my thoughts on the teaser. Which was a memorable moment for me. I’d been in line at Starbucks when it released and I squealed. The man behind me was confused before he enjoyed watching it with me.
