New website coming soon!!! No more compartmentalization! Everything in one place! Get this book! Too much coffee! Happy December!
So, this week was pretty amazing.
Nimona is only the 4th graphic novel to be a National Book Award finalist - and I’m the youngest finalist ever (or so they tell me). My parents and my sisters flew to New York to celebrate with me, I got a medal, and I got to dress like a fancy vampire - so it was pretty much perfect?? Nimona didn’t take home the top prize, but it was such an honor for my book to make it as far as it did. And dig that shiny sticker!!
So proud of the life this little comic has had, online and off. Thank you to everyone who’s followed me over the years, who read and supported Nimona when it was online, or read and supported the book. I never dreamed any of this was even possible but you all helped it happen ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Neil deGrasse Tyson hosts celebrities, scientists, and comedians on National Geographic's first ever late-night talk series.
What I’ve been watching----other than Nashville and THIS
The author and filmmaker Miranda July asks the pop superstar what turns her on, how she handles the pressure of public scrutiny and why she’s been Googling childbirth. (Then they become best friends.)
Terence Trent D’Arby’s 1987 debut album sold a million copies in three days. The music press went mad for him. Where was there to go but down?
So. Happy. !!!!!!!!
Love me some Bernie, but you know my heart belongs to Hill. I’ve waited my entire life for this moment. Maybe I need a tee shirt that says, “I support Bernie, but I’ll vote for Hillary.”
I wanted to give Bernie my $, but I’ve been a bit more reticent with Hill outside of the essential buttons, indoctrinating tee shirts for the kids, and a baseball cap. So, I guess not so reticent. BUT. BUT!!! Have you seen the cute Hillary sweatshirt and enamel pin just asking for some jean jacket cuteness? And the Fish’s Eddy Hillary mug?
This is as close to a style post as you will ever get from me.
By the way, a must listen--LOVED this podcast the Another Round Ladies did with HRC. Listen.
In case you had no internet in the past week. Bernie/Larry David. You’re welcome.
Anthony Bourdain joins The Balvenie to celebrate some of America’s most talented and dedicated craftspeople. From hand-tailored suits to cast iron skillets, ...
Doing housekeeping as witnessed here and below. Cleaning out drawers, shifting stuff. Cleaning my desk and my posters and piles. Doing that whole Summer is Over thing. More soon.
My Big Ambition was to do Nothing
Question: When your friends said they wanted to be writers, what did you want to be instead? What did you think you could do? Deborah Eisenberg: I didnât think I could do anything and my big ambition was to do nothing. But, of course, the matter of supporting myself did intrude.
From an excellent and very funny interview with Deborah Eisenberg at The Days of Yore.
