IHS' Invisible Children Club

This is the official Tumblr for Independence High School's Invisible Children Club. Our primary goal is to raise money to help the child soldiers in Uganda. First Meeting

Today on September 14, 2011, Invisible Children Club had its first meeting of the school year in our new location, C-308, Mrs. Jay's room. Thanks for all members who came! A few items to remember:

Piedmont Hills' Invisible Children Club has given our club Invisible Children bracelets, since they were unable to sell them all last year. We will be selling these bracelets for $1 each. If you are able to sell a whole bag of bracelets, you will receive community service.

We are going to have an Invisible Children Club t-shirt this year. Since no one last year was able to submit a design, a standard t-shirt design has been created. T-shirts are $12 each, but if you pre-order them, you can get them for $10.

T-Shirt Contest!

Our club will be holding a contest for who can create the better Invisible Children T-Shirt. Bare in mind that the t-shirt must: 1) Be no more than 2 colors. 2) Have no green on it (Interact Club is green). 3) Should not include the school years, but should include our school name. 4) Must have some type of slogan.

The winner will receive community service hours! The contest ends next week.

Also, if you are selling felt hearts, the money acquired is also due next week at our next meeting. Every bag should have a total of $12. So keep in mind the limited time and get to selling!

Hey, Members!

 During our last meeting, the club watched a brief clip that discussed the issue of the Invisible Children in Uganda, Africa, and candy was given out to the members who were able to answer trivia questions correctly! (Makes all of you non-members want to join now, doesn't it?)

A Board Meeting was also held last week, where we decided that we will be selling T-shirts this year. Our club will be holding a contest for those who would like to create the design for our t-shirts and the winner will receive community service hours. T-shirts will be sold for $12 this year, and if you would like to buy last year's shirt, we will also be selling those for $10.

Lastly, PHHS and IHS Invisible Children's Club are also collaborating together and are holding a concert to fund for our clubs. If any members have any ideas for whom should perform, please inform one of the board members.

 Next meeting will be Wednesday, October 20, 2010!

Reminder!

Tomorrow will be an ICC Meeting at Carolyn's house from 11:30AM - whenever. We would appreciate it if everyone who is/wants to become a member attends this meeting, as we will be discussing the upcoming events for our club as well as creating ideas for future fundraisers. See you all there!

Update!

As you all know, Club Day is on October 08, 2010 at the Memorial Grove during Lunch. Invisible Children will be selling IC hearts for $2 and t-shirts for $10! So spread the word to your friends and support Invisible Children! (Remember members, every 6 hearts that you sell is the equivalent to 1 hour community service.)

We will have a video showing in one of the Commons around October 19 to inform other people about the situation in Uganda. Members, please get your teachers to bring your class to watch the clip!

An IC Social Get-Together will be held next Sunday, October 10 at Carolyn's house. We will be discussing the upcoming events for our club, so it'd be appreciated if all club members make it! If you are planning on going, please inform Carolyn.

IHS Invisible Children is planning to collaborate with PHHS Invisible Children to hold a concert in our school's theater. If any if you have any ideas for who should perform, please advise one of the Board Members!

Last Saturday, a few members from our club went over to Carolyn's house to create Invisible Children hearts. Special thanks to Jeremy Chua, Linda Luong, Deanna Pham, and Carolyn Stewart! Invisible Children Club will be selling these hearts for $2 as soon as we can get them approved! Every 6 hearts that you sell will be the equivalent of 1 hour of community service!
