IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: This week, NYPD cop Pedro Serrano has been testifying about the unfair targeting of Blacks and Hispanics for New York’s Stop and Frisk. To support his case, Serrano unveiled a video recording of superior ordering him to stop and frisk Black and Latino males between the ages of 14 and 21. This cop is very, very brave.
Good cops don’t turn a blind eye to the corruption and racism being practiced by their fellow officers.

Anti-Asian racism is when Asian accents are considered to be funny and cheap, while European accents such as French and Italian accents are considered to be sexy and beautiful.

We live in a culture that produces girls’ tops with narrower shoulder straps than boys’ tops, girls’ shorts that expose more leg than boys’ shorts, and then shames girls for wearing the clothes sold to them. We live in a culture that tells boys it’s okay to shed clothing in the heat in order to be more comfortable, but tells girls that their comfort is secondary to how others perceive them. […] The message that we are receiving isn’t just that more ‘revealing’ clothes are wrong. It’s that our female bodies are wrong. That by having breasts and hips and legs and exposing them, we are less.
A Message To Teenage Girls About Summer Dress Codes, Chelsea Cristene (via tiredestprincess)
Have you ever seen a white girl with fake 'kinky nappy or curly' hair? Because I have never seen it except for one occasion only. That is when they are dressing up mocking us. They have black face on, they are wearing booty shorts, they have gold teeth in their mouth, are acting like fools, and have a Afro wig on their heads!Think about that. I am going deeper and asking why! Why do black women prefer destroying their hair and buying and or altering theirs, to look like something they are not.
I dont think anybody can dictate how a person choses to wear their hair. me or other sisters who chose to sometimes straighten their hair or wear weaves sometimes may do it because we need to due to our jobs or cuz we like how it looks. there is nothing wrong with that. we dont mock anybody with it, so I dont see where you are trying to go with this message ??also I know that white people do all this horrible shit and yes, I see many whites down here in europe tying their hair around straws to get tiny curls who are supposed to ressemble an afro or wearing braids to get a braidout. I do not approve as I think any appropriation of black hair is harmful to us in the end, I dont think its innocent or “good”. but straightening my hair does not equate to that, neither is letting others dictate how my hair looks, effective to us as a comunity. we should appreciate a black womans natural hair without a question but we also need to respect that individuals hair choice, no matter why. it does not mean that I or any other sister wants to be white. we may just wanna switch up or need to do it.
still kind of in disbelief that I actually took this picture. The sinkhole’s water was 150 feet deep and had a ledge that you could dive off of from halfway up. Probably the best experience of my life.
