I hate how so many of the Trek series often treat Vulcan culture as something to be overcome and deprogrammed.
Our view of Vulcan is often through the highly organised government/institutional lens because it's on a political/military level when encountering starfleet. Of course those institutions will have some hyper-conservative logical dickheads.
Just for once I'd love to encounter some deeply average civilians. I want to see how the average person engages in Vulcan culture when they're not a high ranking politician or scholar.
TOS, however clunkily, addressed Spock being discriminated against by humans for his Vulcan culture, which I appreciated. Modern Star Trek I feel like only really explores the other way around, rather than both, which I feel like starts to send a message that Vulcan culture is wrong, rather than actually engaging in a conversation about cultural discrimination or the struggles living with mixed cultural background. (Especially considering Spock is surrounded by humans for most of the show, realistically he’d deal with bigoted humans on screen more often. Like he’s literally one of the scarce few aliens on a ship of 100+ humans.)
And it wasn’t just side characters too— most prominently it can be easily argued that Bones was a blatant bigot against Vulcans. I think him acting that way was good for the narrative. As much as I love the new shows, Star Trek today feels much too afraid to let their main human characters be portrayed in that type of bad light in imo.
That’s a major hurdle I think they need to get over first to be able to fairly portray Vulcan culture in comparison.
(Edit: I also liked how Voyager explored this a little with Tuvok)
harry’s often the one who gets sent on the borg cube missions in a way i think is best described as part enrichment in his enclosure part parent (janeway) living vicariously through their child
the thing is he would never have a “this isn’t my dream, this is yours!” moment with janeway because he loves borg cube missions. blowing up borg cubes is his passion and joy. his only negative comment about borg cube missions was that borg cubes remind him of a haunted house he went to as a kid, which is an insane thing to say on multiple levels but kind of implies that even though it’s scary he’s having at least a bit of fun
You'll never guess which ds9 episode I watched Again
It's a shame they never brought Q back on DS9 after Worf joined. I feel he would have been excited about Sisko's "We can hit Q" policy.
Love when DS9 episodes are like this:

I was informed this was a family establishment, but to my suprise my young sons were exposed to absolute DEPRAVITY! I wanted to take them to witness gambling and how to profit off it, but the females attending were FULLY CLOTHED! To add on to that, I heard the waiters mentioning the uni*n word in front of my children! I will not be returning.
