“ah -- i am flattered! i just don’t think there’s anything special about m-- oh, um... okay.” her words fumbled out within seconds, her attention diverted by haneul taking possession of her bag so he could hold it instead. “are you sure you want to hold it? i have my textbooks in there so it’s probably heavy!” despite her words, the eighteen year old found herself wanting to laugh at the elder’s sudden ‘gentlemanly’ gestures -- knowing well enough that he was only trying to impress her by reigning in his usual antics. however, the crystal trainee couldn’t help but frown a bit haneul’s confession, quickly shaking her head to dismiss the other’s belief. “i don’t think he’s hard on you just because. i think he’s hard on you because he sees so much potential in you. you’re an amazing dancer, oppa! my brother wouldn’t put so much effort into you if he didn’t think so too!” she offered him a smile. “but you’re right about one thing. he probably got distracted. do you have anywhere else to be, oppa?”

“ah, practice was rough today...” the senior whined softly while sitting in the middle of her birth mother’s apartment. the dancer was currently stretching out and massaging her limbs, her legs sore from the back to back dance practices over the last couple of days. this practice in particular just so happened to be the most difficult as most of the new routine she was learning required a lot of floor-work, overworking her muscles and already creating small bruises. “thanks for letting me stay for a few hours, eomma. i think my dorm mates would have killed me already with my whining.”

“oppa! graduation is in a couple of weeks, you know.” the crystal trainee chirped up, looking up from her boxed lunch to turn her attention to her brother who was sitting across from her. it was evident that the dancer was excited for her transition from a student into a full-fledged adult. with exams practically out of the way, there was only a number of school days yet. “i know that you won’t be able to go that day, but you’ll still get me flowers, right?”

“excuse me...” hesitant words left the crystal trainee’s lips, the dancer wanting to groan at herself for being so awkward. normally, minhee was great at approaching other people regardless whether she knew them or not. and it’s not like minhee didn’t know the male in front of her. she had seen him around the building sometimes whenever she came to visit her brother or one of her friends who trained in galaxy. regardless, she had never officially met the elder and the fact that he was the only one she recognized between the people entering and exiting the building, well -- it limited her options. 

“do you know if moon bongki is in the building today, by any chance?” ah, she probably sounded like fan with the way she asked that question. perhaps she was overthinking it, but her behavior probably didn’t help her case either if she had to be honest with herself. “i’m his sister.” she quickly added while pointing to her cell, clumsily explaining her reason as to why she interrupted him. “i was supposed to meet him a little later, but he isn’t answering his cell so i was wondering if he was here--”

minhee hated that days where she was running late, the high school senior finding herself running among the bustle of the crowded streets in the middle of the afternoon. with graduation less than a month away and final exam season nearing, the dancer had a lot on her plate especially when having to juggle her practices along with them. “excuse me! can you hold the door?” minhee breathed out as she approached the other, a puff of cold air escaping her lips. she had roughly half an hour before dance practice starts and if she wanted to get there on time, she would have to make her stop at the convenience store quick. there was no way she was going to survive until dinner without snacks! “thank you so much! you’re a life saver!”

natsuko glared at the cinema screen as it faded to black before the credits began to roll in korean. mouth agape, natsuko turns to her bestfriend, minhee and shakes her head. “ah, that was such a bad film, i’m crying.” natsuko dabs at her eye with her fingertips. most girls would of been on the edge of their chairs, crying hysterically out of fear. nothing scared natsuko more than a bad horror film. or an injury, as injuries meant no dancing. people begin to move out of the cinema, and natsuko sighs, brushing popcorn from her skirt ( courtesy of the helpless crying girl behind them ). she looks back across to minhee with a pout, pointing at the girl’s hair. “you have popcorn in your hair, from when that girl reacted to that jumpscare.” she mutters, still puffy eyed. natsuko puts a hand to her own head, pulling a piece from a strand of hair . “ah, should we go to the arcade first, or lunch?” she was up for a bit of retail therapy too, that worked well.

minhee had pursed her lips into a thin line, a hum escaping as soon as she heard her best friend’s words. it was true that the movie wasn’t all that great compared to the hype it had. there was many plot holes and things that didn’t particularly make sense to the dancer so in the end, minhee could only conclude that the film relied on its numerous jumpscares for ratings. “that was disappointing--” the trainee agreed with a nod, her attention turning her attention to natsuko who was pulling a piece of popcorn from her hair. standing up from her own seat and making their way towards the exit, minhee thought over their options for a moment before replying. “should we go shopping first? the mall is nearby and there’s bound to be an arcade. we can also buy some food on the way there!” the dancer suggested, evidently excited for the next step of the girls’ day out.

❛ minhee! ❜ he’d like to say he’s not exactly sure why he reacts so violently, but as soon as she opens the door to the studio, he’s jumping up to greet her and he knows fully why he’s so excited to see her, even with him around her older brother so much, they don’t end up waiting for him at the same time often. ❛ bongki isn’t in here yet, but i’m— you look nice.  ❜

after knowing haneul for a few years, one would expect minhee to be used to his very brash reactions by now. but that was soon proven false as soon as the other jumped up to greet her -- just as a puppy would go and greet a guest honestly -- causing minhee to jump in surprise. it wasn’t even a few seconds later when her own smile reached her lips, a small grin forming at his sudden compliment despite the fact she wasn’t wearing anything special. “oppa, i’m just wearing my uniform. you’ve seen it before!” she laughed while shrugging her school bag off her shoulders. “that’s not a surprise, bongki oppa is always late. do you know when he’ll be back?”
