A Palestinian woman in Hebron and her children walk past graffiti reading âGas the Arabs!â, signed by the Jewish Defense League (JDL). The JDL is a particularly prominent case of right-wing extremism, being responsible for a number of attacks against Muslims in both the U.S. and abroad. Perhaps the most famous example is JDL member Baruch Goldsteinâs massacre of worshipers at the Cave of the Patriarchs mosque in Hebron in 1994, which led to the death of 29 Muslims and the injury of over 100 more. Although the JDLâs beliefs are by no means representative of the entire Israeli right-wing, settler communities - especially in Hebron - are increasingly involved in attacks on Palestinians, ranging from physical brutality to vandalizing their homes, shops, fields, and places of worship. Not subject to the legal jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority, settlers tried for such acts by Israeli courts usually receive very light sentences. Many are not convicted, or even arrested, being largely allowed to act with impunity by the Israeli military and security apparatuses. Most disturbingly, many of these attacks are coming from children and adolescents, most prominently groups like the Hilltop Youth. In August of 2012, three boys aged between 12 and 13 from a settler community near Jerusalem fire-bombed a taxi carrying a Palestinian family, including two children. In May of 2012, after an armed settler shot a Palestinian adolescent in the stomach, teenagers from the settlement proceeded to tie his hands and beat him unconscious. These incidents, just two among many others, are not relegated to the more ideologically-extreme communities represented by the settlements either. In the Zion Square incident of August 2012, over a dozen Israeli teenagers set upon a group of 3-4 Palestinians, chanting âDeath to Arabs!â One of the victims, Jamal Julani was beaten almost to death, with one young participant later stating, âFor my part, he can dieâŠIf it was up to me, Iâd have murdered him.â This disturbing trend of violence and racial hatred among some Israeli youth, coupled with the dangerous extremism of many in the settlements where they often reside, is a fact often left out of media coverage of terrorism and radicalism in Israel and Palestine.

News about our first meeting! Remember, we won't be using Tumblr or our Email as our primary sources of information , most announcements will be made on our Facebook group and on LMS, which we will talk about later once we get our laptops! The most accurate and updated information will most likely be on Facebook.
The first meeting of the Islamic KO Network (also known as the KO MSA, or Muslim Students Association) is this Friday, September 7th in Mrs. Long's room (2010). There will be food!
Here is a short agenda for the meeting:
The meeting will start right after school in Mrs.Long's room!
Agenda:
Jumu'ah- A Sermon and Prayer led by Ahad Azimuddin *

Announcments- A couple of quick announcements
FOOD- do we need to say more?(;
Mingling!- Get to know the other members!

This meeting is in no way ascribed to Muslims, our student body is made up of people from different walks of life, different lifestyles, different personalities. What IKON wants to do is not bring just Muslims together, but to bring everyone who is interested in the Islamic Culture together to learn about each other and make new friends.
This is a meeting to get all kinds of people together to socialize with each other and with open minds! It's simply sponsored by the Islamic KO Network!
We supply the food, but YOU supply the people!

Jama Masjid, Delhi byÂ à„ stesh à„
Someone killed Sikh worshipers in Milwaukee, burned down a Muslim place of worship in Joplin, left porcine body parts at a Muslim place of worship in California, and now they shoot at a Muslim place of worship in Chicago.
Please stay safe everyone, there are all kinds of hateful people out there in EVERY country. Stay safe and treat everyone amicably with due respect and honor just like the Prophet Muhammad (S) would have done.
As Salaamu Alaykum. Love, Your IKON Officers
It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to make duâaa at specific places in the prayer, i.e., in sujood, between the two prostrationâs and after the Tashahhud. The greatest of these is in sujood, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
âThe closest that the slave can be to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so increase your duâaa [at that time].â
(Reported by Muslim, Kitaab al-Salah, No. 215)
And he said: â⊠As for sujood, strive hard to make duâaâ in it, for it is bound to be answered for you.â
(Reported by Muslim, Kitaab al-Salah, no. 207).
One of the duâaas which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite in his sujood was:
âAllahummaâghfir li dhanbi diqqahu wa jillahu wa awwalahu wa aakhirahu wa âalaaniyatahu wa sirrahuâ
(O Allah, forgive me my sins, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the open and the hidden).â
(Reported by Muslim, Kitaab al-Salah, no. 216).
He also used to say,
âAllahummaâghfir li maa asrartu wa maa aâlantuâ
(O Allah, forgive me what I have done in secret and done openly).
(Reported by al-Nisaaâi, al-Mujtabaa, 2/569; Sahih al-Jaamiâ, 1067).
âWhen you pray and you bow down to Allah, imagine all the sins placed upon your shoulders falling away from you.â
Brotherhood.
"Say (O Muhammad): Verily, my SalÄt (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for AllÄh, the Lord of the [Worlds]. 'He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims [Those who have submitted to the Will of Allah].'" ~Al-Qur'an, Surah Al-AnâÄm, Verses 162-163, Muhsin Khan translation
2012-2013 School Year Letter From Your IKON Officers
Salaamu Alaykumu, I'm sure you've heard, but if you haven't, early Monday morning the Masjid in Joplin, Missouri (which you may know as the town that was pretty much wiped out last year by tornadoes but managed to rebuild most of it with in a year) caught fire and was burned to the ground. All of the Masjid was razed and only a few prayer mats and Qur'an survived. This came less than a day after a Neo-Nazi opened fire at a Sikh Gurudwara near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, killing a few worshipers and injuring over 50, the first of which was a ten-year old girl. Your officers and I would like to ask you to pray for the Sikh Community in Milwaukee and for the Muslims of Joplin Missouri. About 50 Muslim families are now left without a Masjid to observe the rest of Ramadan and Taraweeh and celebrate Eid. The entire Milwaukee Sikh community is afraid to attend their place of worship, a place that is considered a sanctuary. Their sanctuaries have been violated. Please make dua'a for these people to have the strength and courage to continue and pray for their protection and their faith. That being said, this wasn't even a DAY after the shooting. Two crimes of hate less than 24 hours apart. We ask you to stay safe as you go out and to the Masjid. You never know what may happen. We have Taraweeh every night and as the final ten nights approach and finish, Masjid attendance is going to increase and then the final shebang of Eid, it's wonderful and also may be unsafe. So please, if you see anything suspicious be cautious. Love everyone and show them their due respect as your Prophet (S) would. Each and everyone of you is an ambassador of Islam to the world. Your actions and thoughts reflect what others see as real Islam. It shouldn't be because Muslims are imperfect and Islam is perfect, but others will perceive Muslims as Islam. If you are easily identifiable as Muslim (skin color, beard, hijab, etc), take extra precaution. Please take it for at least the next few weeks inshaAllah. Never forget the Sikhs that died on August 5th, 2012 or the community of Joplin who had their Place of Worship destroyed by a single ignorant. hate filled man on August 6th, 2012. May Allah protect us all, Ameen. â„ We are also going to take this opportunity to announce our "official" (by us, not the school) Tumblr page where you can also find updates on events coming up and also with little gems of Islamic knowledge and culture. The same notices and updates posted on Tumblr will be posted on the Facebook group and announced at meetings. (http://ikonmsa.tumblr.com/) We hope to keep this year exciting and packed with fun exciting activities inshaAllah and bring in a wider variety of members. We look forward to see all of the noor on your faces come September! Love, Your 2012-2013 IKON Officers. Salaamu Alaykumu!
