Emperor Showa. Date unknown, probably around 1926.
*panting heavily* okay, I'm here... I'm still alive... happy Showa Day
Some favourite photos of Emperor Showa.
part 2
I've basically exhausted the big sources so most of the photos I have left are pretty low-quality
photos I have not yet posted, part 1
a Showa Day special
June 20th, Taisho 15 (1926).
Emperor Hirohito and his wife looking at their first born son in a old pram.
Is it your boyfriends?
hahaha, yes
GUESS WHOSE BIRTHDAY IT IS TOMORROW (HINT: IT'S NOT MINE)
Hirohito in a British dress uniform.
This is it. I've found the Holy Grail. The one true testament to Hirohito's weirdly in-depth anglophilia.Â
send us souvenirs?
I'll buy as much weird Imperial Japan tat as possible I promise
I have no idea when there will be a suitable occasion to wear an IJA field cap but it would be irresponsible to leave the country without one

remember how this was a Mussolini blog
anyways, I will in all likelihood be going to Tokyo this summer, any old stuff you want me to post photos of on here? I know it's super early to ask but I'm just interested (did you know there is a museum of Emperor Showa????? yeah)
Unfortunately super bad quality and watermarked photos of Crown Prince Hirohito in Scotland wearing his British uniform.
Would kill to see these more clearly!
Photos of Hirohito and Edward that I have not seen before and are unfortunately too small for reverse image search to work properly.
First one is from 1921 during Hirohito’s trip to England, other photos from this moment are an easy find but I have not yet seen this particular one.
Second and third are from Edward’s trip to Japan in 1922, he’s wearing a Japanese uniform here. I posted a portrait of Edward on a horse from this time earlier, these were probably taken directly before or after that one.
At some point after learning that Edward VIII was giving state secrets to the Nazis, Churchill thought about putting a hit on him. He didn’t go through with it for fear that the plot would be discovered.
He should have.
I agree haha
haha yeah it's been a while
