thoughts and rambles

have you ever felt like you almost nearly had yourself figured out, and you were searching endlessly for the right words to describe what you felt, the right ones just barely out of reach? that’s what i’ve been feeling a lot of recently. i’ve known that with regards to who i’m attracted to, gender does not and has never really mattered to me. sure, there’s some benefits for certain genders, but that in no way inhibits my ability to be attracted to people. what’s always been a bit more confusing to me is the sexual part of sexuality. it almost feels like when i tell someone i’m bi, i have to put a “but” on the end of it. i’ve been doing a lot of research recently after something happened with a person i was seeing, and today i finally found the right words to describe me. in the broadest terms, i’m bi/pansexual. more specifically, i’m asexual. even more specifically, i’m on the ace spectrum. finally, the most specific and most accurate label is placiosexual, deriving from the prefix “placio-” meaning “to please.” check out this link if you want to read more about it https://lgbta.wikia.org/wiki/Placiosexual

so, in summary, hi! my name is wildflower, and i’m panromantic and pansexual/placiosexual. most importantly, however, i am comfortable in my sexuality. obviously, i’m probably going to continue just saying i’m bi because that’s a term most people know, but that’s a-okay with me. plus, i wouldn’t want anyone besides my partner or others in the community to need to know that level of detail.

of course, people shouldn’t depend on labels or feel they’re necessary to validate one’s feelings, but i find a comfort in knowing how to put my thoughts into a more simple explanation as well as knowing there are people like me out there. thank you so much for reading and remember to be kind to everyone of every sexuality. i’ve personally experienced a bit of denial of my bi/pansexuality as well as my asexuality, the former from a dedicated ally and the latter from a queer person themselves. there’s a lot of misunderstanding, especially around asexual people, so if you have the time to, share something that shows your support for the community. a different queer friend of mine took that route and it made me infinitely grateful for them. don’t be afraid to show your support for others. it really means the world to us <3

a little bit about me:

- i love lord huron and probably couldn’t go more than a day without listening to them

- i love creating art, whether it be in the form of a photograph, a painting, or digital art (also, all art i post will be original unless otherwise specified!)

- i love video games, especially minecraft! i usually am uncomfortable talking about it, but i figured this is one place where i can be completely authentic, so there you go!
