Naomi said to practice in private. She’d said to do the simple things at home and together they’d practice the hard things. Of course, Iliana would practice her magic alone, she was a perfectionist and once she was learning something new, she dedicated herself to it. Of course, most times she practiced, with Naomi and without, Iliana was left in tears, unable to control whatever she was trying to do. But moving objects--that, was something she was getting better at. The smaller the better, and Iliana was trying to use it in regular use.
For now, Iliana was supposed to use a gem to gather her magic, one which she kept on her almost always. Whenever she practiced, she got insanley nervous, as if she was doing something bad and was scared she was going to get caught by the police--or her mom.
Iliana looked around, outside her apartment complex people were scarce, and if there was someone walking by, they were too busy on their phone to notice her or the fact she’d been standing outside in once spot, staring at her steps for the past fifteen minutes. She could easily move the rock that had almost made Iliana fall down the three concrete steps and break her ankle with her hands, but magic seemed like a better choice.
Which meant it was a bad idea.
She focused, said some words she remembered from before, and the rock had twitched, then it flew. Not into the bushes next to the stairs, but flew into the air, making an arc in the air, and hitting someone in the face as the were walking in Iliana’s direction. They yelped and fell down.
Her first instinct was to run to the person who fell.
Then she teared up, guilty.
And then she apologized profusely.
❛ I’m so sorry, I’m s o sorry. Let me look, I’m a nurse. ❜
The cut bled profusely, but that’s didn’t scare Iliana away. She searched her bag for some tissues and hand sanitizer. She cleaned her hands, tilted back their head and dabbed the cut.
She made a sigh of relief.
❛ It’s just a superficial bleed, but you’re going to need stitches. I can do that. My apartments right here. ❜
It was almost a plead, her eyes wide and her face in pain; it was the least she could do.
