It is the start of mental health awareness month. I have decided that from this day forward I will be an advocate for mental health and for individuals struggling with mental illness. I've dealt with mental illness and know firsthand how difficult it is to get resources and adequate compassionate care. The stigma is so very real. I have included some photos from my journey because sometimes mental illness isn't invisible. It's been the hardest year of my life without a doubt and for a long time I believed that this was my ending. That this would end up killing me. Mental illness does not have to be a death sentence. You do not have to fight alone. I know this now. I am so proud of myself for being alive and for somehow navigating against all odds to still be here. If you need someone to talk to or someone to just listen, please do not hesitate to reach out to me, I'm here. Know that god is so present even amid the valley, He is holding you and journeying with you, you're not all alone.
