Santa Claus is a Soulman
Large Professor digs with gloves. Amoeba catches one of my favorite producer doing what he does best. Most diggers have their own styles to it and LP is no exception. Check it!
The other day I was listening to one of my favorite mixtapes: J-Rocc's Walkman Rotation which features music from Seattle based Conception Records. Being a J-Rocc mixtape, it was on-point so I looked into the underground record label and stubmled upon this track. What's beautiful about most of Conception's line-up is that it features heavy sample-based music; the type that is similar to underground rap from the 90's part of the golden age. Check it out.
This could be it! Originally, I thought my next mixer would be the TTM 57SL (or it's older sister the TTM 56), but a new contender has stepped into the ring: the Vestax PMC-08Pro. I saw this mixer in several of Qbert's scratch videos. The white-orange color scheme and smooth layout intrigued to check it out. The only disadvantage is that the model is discontinued so buying a new one might be tough (parts are still available). Otherwise, it has all the features that I really want and is sexy. I ready a pretty good review in an article, where it was scored 92%. Vestax is one of the proven brands that has managed to last in the digital age. The Vestax mixer I have has done pretty well and I believe that with care, Vestax products are a supreme choice for any DJ.
Dope Paul Nice & Phill Most Chill Track. Available on Fatbeats. I love the way the beat changes up at the chorus. It's got an interesting background.

Oddisee - Ci'iy Life (i dig the axelrod samples)
A video made by members of the crew using their track "Electric Pow Wow Drums":
A Tribe Called Red is a Native American DJ crew out of Ottowa. Checking out there soundcloud page, the crew specializes in making electronic, dubstep and moombhaton tracks that samples Native American drums and chants. Their music brings focus on Native American issues of discrimination and genocide while promoting Native American pride. Definitely a crew worth watching.
The soundcloud track below uses the crew's concept of sampling Native American drums and chants, but in particular samples news reports and eyewitness testimonies from the murder of John T. Williams (aka the Woodcarver) in Seattle, WA. See if you can piece together the case based on the clips used in the track.

Don't touch!
Zero dB.
An interesting article from iCrates talking about why Vinyl has continued to grow even though formats like CD's continue to shrink in the digital generation.
Grado SR-80i Headphones
I bought these headphones recently, and have not had a single regret. This headphone has an excellent design: Sturdy headband connected to adjustable ear cups so that it can fit just about any head size. The comfortable ear pads allow hours of use without itchy or sweaty ears. It has an open-ear design, meaning that you can get a great sound without blowing out your ears. They have a great frequency response meaning that they can capture every sound you were meant to hear (but sometimes the ones you weren't suppose to). One of the best listening headphones under $100.
Grado headphones are legendary. Any audiophile looking for headphones should already have them in their top 5. Grado is based out of Brooklyn and has been making high quality headphones and cartridges for over 50 years. Grado has a whole series headphones for different audiophiles (for very different price ranges). Some of their signature headphones will cost about $1600, however, the SR-80i's are great for those who want good sound without giving up a couple of paychecks.
