This is what I did at the shed today. I finished the small bowl off. Then I went to make another one the exact same, but the wood split and exploded. So now I am preparing a bigger piece of timber and tomorrow will begin turning it.

This is what I did today. I had to cut the big block of wood in half to get rid of the massive cracks, then cut the good half in two. Next I shaped the outside and put a tenon on. Having to do a patch job as the screws popped through. Then I drilled a hole 35mm long for the carving. The glue was still wet so I called it quits for the day.

Finished the fifth bowl. Using slow/final cuts before sanding with 80grit sandpaper at 550/560rmp (don't know the unit of measure that measures the motor output on the lathe) got most of the tears and ripped grain out. Then like usual, went up in grits sizes (100, 120, 240,250,400,800, and a scarring pad 1000) for the smooth polish look.

This is what I have done at the shed today. I have finished my third bowle and prepared another piece with timber to be turned tomorrow. I have learnt how to lessen tear outs and ripped grains. Doing slow final cuts when happy with the shape and using 80 grit sandpaper at 1200mph on the lathe before going up in grit sizes. Brought the outside up really smooth but not so much the inside.

This is what I did at the shed today. I have finally shaped the outside and the inside. Unfortunately, I accidentally put a small hole through the bottom of the bowl. But a bung made from a darker piece of wood to plug the hole and look good.

I have finished my urn. The lid turned out amazing but cutting the tenon off the base ended in a little accident lol 🫢. Now I left it in the dry place to dry out completely over the next 12 months. Then fix up all the cracks and re sand and polish it. So it looks perfect.

This is what I've done at the shed today. I had to fix the lid handle as it got badly chipped but the timber I'm using was very crumbly. So I got it to a point that it looked decent and patched up the hole with glue and saw dust. By next week it will be as solid as cement, so once sanded it will look good as new.

I then remanded the urn, inside and out, and applied a coat of Orange Oil, Liquid Bees wax, and High Friction Rubbing Oild. It looks amazing and I'm happy with how it turned out.

This is an egg cup I made today for a friend as a birthday present. It has 3 coats of Danish Oil and 4-5 coats of Liquid Bees Wax . Except the base that has a coat of Tung Oil.

This is what I did at the shed today. I bore the inside out. First with a drill bit, then a 22mm forsner bit, then a 50mm forsner bit.

Then while using the spindle gouges trying to widen the walls and go a bit deeper, I caught a catch which made the urn come out of the chuck slightly. It took Stewie forever to get it back into the chuck evenly as the project is wrapping. Due to drying out more and making small cracks that need to be repaired.

Stewie evened up the inside and the opening before I put it back out of wack while taking more of the wall out. Lmao 🤣🤣. So over the next week while I'm not at the shed, Stewie is going to play around with it and get it all straight again before we move onto the lid.

This is what I've done today. I have done all the shaping and sanded the outside. From 120 grit to 1000 grit (green scour). Tomorrow I hollow out the inside.
