Nadia’s favorite dish, is Spiced Swordfish. In our own world, Swordfish are found in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, including the Mediterranean Sea, the Sea of Marmara, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Swordfish thrive in tropical, temperate and sometimes cold waters. The Mediterranean is known for having a wealth of flavorfully exotic spices, which personally at least, felt only fitting to the exotic palette of our beloved Countess!
Today, we will be creating a dish inspired by the tastes and unique spices surrounding the rich culture of the Mediterranean!
* ¼ cup (½ stick) butter, room temperature
* 3 tablespoons Za’atar Seasoning (Traditional Lebanese Blend)
* ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
* ½ teaspoon (packed) grated lemon peel
* 1 1-inch-thick swordfish steak
1.) Preheat oven to 400°F. Mash together the butter, garlic, 1 tablespoon of Za’atar Seasoning, Cracked Pepper, and lemon peel in small bowl. Season to taste with salt.
2.) Heat oil in heavy large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Rub remaining 2 Tablespoons of Za’atar Seasoning onto both sides of the swordfish steak, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
3.) Add swordfish to skillet. Cook until browned, about 3 minutes. Turn swordfish over and then transfer to oven.
4.) Roast until just cooked through, about 8-10 minutes longer.
5.) Transfer Swordfish steak to plate.
6.) Add seasoned butter to same skillet. Cook over medium-high heat, scraping up browned bits, until melted and bubbling. Pour butter sauce over swordfish and serve
