I feel we don’t talk enough about how much Ava wants to live , how much she enjoys life. This is so rare with hero types . Oh sure we might get an occasional tearful speech about how they wanted to just live a normal life or how they don’t want to die but most of the time they would just be stereotypical heroes .

But Ava ? She wants to live all the time , she wants to enjoy every moment of her life the way all of should . The very start of S2 is her enjoying her life in the pool, even when the shit hits the fan she wants to enjoy her life and go sight seeing with her girl. And this is a beautiful thing to see because that’s how we should all be , we should all appreciate our life and cherish it but this is not how the typical hero has been presented to us in the media

The typical hero is all about the cause and we are so used to this toxic borderline military propaganda portrayal of heroes that Ava Silva is a shock to us and some people who can’t deal with this actually find her annoying

But the Ava is anything but annoying . She is what a true hero should always be . Someone who sees being a hero not as their goal in life but something that gets in the way of their life . Someone who hates that heroes have to exists . Someone who firmly believes that there are some causes you should die for but no cause is worth giving up your life

Ava Silva is the hero we all need because she doesn’t just entertain, she shows us a healthy and truly wonderful way to be a hero and her journey is beautiful and so is she
