thinking about how Lu Guang is nearly always portrayed as a prince or a damsel, and Cheng Xiaoshi as the knight that saves him

when it's really the other way around

on a small scale, yes, Cheng Xiaoshi protects Lu Guang as much as he can- from physical hits, to defending his prickly personality, to helping him up and getting him through his morning routine -> his love language is literally caretaking

but on a broader scale, it's Lu Guang that's pulling the strings. He's the one making choices that allow Cheng Xiaoshi to be so carefree and loving without a tainted view of these people Lu Guang keeps at bay

Lu Guang is possessive, in a very paranoid and self-justified way, but despite that- and despite being very aware of that- he knows he can't tuck Cheng Xiaoshi away from these people even if he really really wants to

and his duality fascinates me
