the varying povs in asoiaf really do have distinctive voices from one another like for instance jaime is always ending his sentences with a vague ellipsis because he’s stupid. jon will interject his emo navel-gazing in italics between the plot happening consistently more than other characters do. bran is the youngest pov child so his internal thoughts are structured to be simpler than the others except for victarion, whose idiocy is truly astounding and has less of an internal dialogue going on than the seven year old. theon’s brain comes up with shit like the certain undeniable spice of fucking a tavern wench in lord eddard stark’s own bed and his lips look like two worms fucking. joncon is gay. cersei. this is all a testament to george btw you could drop me in any random chapter and within a couple of sentences i could tell you whose head i’m in just based on how mean their thoughts are. that’s awesome.

A lot of people seem to mix up ‘community’ with ‘friend group’ so when they read ‘no one should be abandoned by the community. No matter what they did’ they think it means ‘you have to be friends with abusers’. When in reality it means ‘no matter what someone does they shouldnt be left to go homeless and be denied financial, housing, medical, etc aid’

You don’t have to be friends with these people, no one is saying that. It’s just saying that you should support rehabilitative justice, support programs that help homeless people, support funding for free medical services, and make sure they don’t turn away anyone who needs help.

that family who runs the local foreign cuisine restaurant you enjoy, they struggled a lot getting a visa to stay in your country. they had to wait for years, learn an entirely different language to be taken even a little serious, even then their accents were mocked. could you do it? move to an entirely different place with no proper money on you, learn an entirely different language and wait 10 years to be considered a citizen, a person? have your accent and personhood mocked as you do? you'd have to do it, if you woke up one day and your purchase power had fell by %400, only to fall further, if you woke up and your street, your home was bombed to pieces. that family wanted a better life for their kids, and they regularly have to see news of little kids like their own getting murdered by people of your country. do you think that's what they prefer? do you not think they maybe would've preferred to live in their homeland where thats not a worry, where they won't struggle with language, where all their family and friends were, where their children should've been safe, where they'd be considered human? but they had no choice, because your country and their allies ruined their country to pieces, bombed it, assaulted it, raped it. and here they are now, their "better" chance at a safer life being serving in the country of their assaulters and offering you a piece of the home they had to leave. they consier themselves among the lucky ones who weren't killed trying to come here, who could at least get a visa to be considered semi human. you should be kind to them, but don't think your kindness makes up for the tragedy

Goddamit i hate this fucking post. I hate it because obviously if “twelve” followed the same pattern as the other teen numbers it wouldn’t be “twoteen” it would be “seconteen”. Think about it. It’s not “threeteen” it’s “thirteen” as in “third”. It’s not “fiveteen” it’s “fifteen” as in fifth. So with that in mind, you count “first, second, third, fourth, fifth,” and so on, so eleven would be “firsteen” and twelve would be “secondteen” or “seconteen”. “Firsteen, seconteen, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen….” It just drives me absolutely mad everytime i see this post that this obvious pattern was overlooked and i cant hold in my rage anymore.
