Unpopular ofmd opinion ahead!

I don’t want Lucius to just get over Ed throwing them overboard. I really don’t.

I see a lot of people say “well Jim tried to kill him too and he just moved on, it’s the same thing” but it’s not. Lucius and Jim barely knew each other. Lucius didn’t even know Jim could speak, and even though he was terrified he obviously understood why Jim acted the way they did. And he saw it coming, based on how he tried to reassure Jim that he saw nothing to avoid their anger and snuck around the ship.

Ed is different. Lucius knew Ed and saw a side of him that very few people saw. Yeah sure, Izzy saw Ed’s depression and distress, but he didn’t give it the time of day. Lucius did. He let Ed talk about his pain without judgement, nurtured his emotions, and encouraged him to start over. Lucius knew Ed trusted him, and he trusted Ed so damn much. What Ed did to him was a betrayal he never saw coming.

I don’t want him to just move on and act like it never happened. I want him to be tense and give Ed a thin, polite smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. I want him to go out of his way to avoid being alone with Ed. And I want him to show a little of that attitude and fire he gave Ed during his “don’t be a dick” speech.

And then I want some crying, hugging, bonding, and the two of them realizing how much they need each other on a familial level. I want the path to forgiveness and healing to be slow but so, so rewarding in the end.

(Obv these are just my thoughts and everyone is welcome to their own opinion on the matter. Also, upon editing I realized I accidentally used they/them pronouns for Lucius in the beginning. I will not be changing this, he’s genderfluid now.)
