When people justify their taste in partners like this it almost seems like some kind of compensation for their own poorly masked racism. You act tolerant but in reality you seek out someone of a certain race with the expectation that they fit your racial stereotype bill so you can show them off to your friends and say "look at me! I'm tolerant! I'm dating the black guy that beat his ex girlfriend, doesn't that make me so brave and totally not a racist?" It's a disgusting way to fake acceptance and in a way is just as racist as the people who discriminate against that same person for the same qualities you desire.
