"Scientifically," he answered with an arched eyebrow. Unaware of the dark thoughts brewing in the other man’s mind, Jim cast a worried eye over McCoy. He twisted his wrists in the grip of his own fingers, an anxious energy settling under his sternum. "With the help of Starfleet’s best and brightest minds and the computer’s recordings of any strange readings taken on the moment of your transport."
He snorted under his breath, a touch annoyed at the other’s constant bad-tempered disbelief. Licking his bottom lip, Jim directed his attention to the front of the turbolift again. “How else, magic?”
Yeah. He was going to have to give this Kirk a few scars to remember him by. He's weak, and still manages to have that same annoying approach to telling him anything. Except here he hasn't got the visciousness to back it up.
He licked his lips and continued to give the other a bitter glare. "Yeah, Smart Ass. I figured you wee fairy folk that seem to flit around this world would use fuckin' magic to send me back home. You don't have the constant threat of death looming over ya if ya fail. I expected you to be a little behind."
reblog if it is okay for me to reply to any of your opens, no matter how old.

Jim sighed, slipping a sideways look at the man as he ordered the turbolift to engineering. They’d have to bring Scotty in on this problem, no doubt. Maybe Chekov, too. He was more worried about the amount of energy Bones’s lookalike seemed to be emitting, a quick vibration. He seemed more tightly strung than Bones- but not… it was far more harmful. He seemed to hate being touched, shifting restlessly, his eyes darting.
It made Jim’s chest feel tight. He swallowed uncomfortably, looking ahead. “I don’t know any more than you do.”
He stared at the captain, an unpleasant look of consideration in his eyes. He could get Jim back like this. He could never, never let his Captain know it though. That he had done something awful to him. Maybe on his way out. Not like he hadn't had plenty taken from him as it was, he deserved a little retribution.
Leonard shuffled, very aware just how much stronger he was just from his brutal training regimen based on the fact that if he ever started to look soft he would be very dead, very quickly.
"No? Then how do you plan on fixin' it?" He bared his teeth in a feral display, if fear was how he got this done he'd damn well scare every person on this ship.

Elbow deep in blood and masked the doctor snarled as he heard an interuption, several actually, come into his closed opperating room. "What the fuck do you want?!"
"Darlin' you don't have to go easy on 'em," The doctor is speaking to his daughter, watching her cut up a 'volunteer' from a nice cell block of death row inmates. "Remember what we talked about. These men did enough shit to get on the Empire's bad side. There ain't nothin' good about 'em. Cut him open like Daddy showed you how and torture him. You gotta get past it. You gotta get past the puking and the crying. If you wanna survive after your Daddy's gone you're gonna have to learn."
Joanna was 18 now, about to be part of the Empire's draft into the Fleet. He wasn't about to let her walk into the Academy without a defense, even if it had to be a reputation that marked her up as an even more derranged bitch than her Father ever had been. And Leonard had no illusions of immortality, not under Jim Kirk's thumb he didn't for as long as he was Jim's favorite officer he would be under constant threat.
"Like this sweetheart," Caloused hand's gripped his daughter's shaking wrists and steadied her," You don't wanna kill him just yet. The screams are what make the others afraid to touch you. Your mind is what keeps you ahead of them." He kissed her cheek apologetically as he had been since this training had started. He just wanted his little bleeding heart to grow up and be as strong as her bitch of a mother had been. Wanted her to become that defiant in the face of disgusting odds that she wouldn't make it to a Starship without some bastard over powering her and taking things that even the most awful of men shouldn't dream about.
He helped her cut this one open, but she needed less guidance than last time. Progress. He might save his little girl after all, at the consequence of what remained of his soul.
His lips parted in a snarl as he stared at the other, the gears in his head working hard and fast to find a decent end to this. “United Federation of Planets? Bullshit. Alright Captain stop pulling my chain and change into your right uniform.” He glared,” this isn’t funny.”
He meant it too, and as on edge as he was he was nothing but a danger to the entire ship around him. “In the mean time I’m going to the Medbay to make sure Chapel didn’t fucking kill anybody while I was gone.”
Jim hissed. He darted forward to grab Bones’s arm- and then immediately jumped back. Bones was surly the majority of the time but there was a difference between grouch and the violent anger this man displayed. At least the doctor didn’t still think he was an impostor.
And the idea of nurse Chapel killing anyone… he didn’t like whatever world the man had emerged from. (A flash of fear gripped him- if this doctor was here, was Bones there? Of all people to land in that place, Bones… )
He put his hands up to show that he had no designs on harming McCoy, though he stayed within arm’s reach. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Please come with me. I think we need to talk.”
He gave Jim a suspicious look. That was not the grip his captain would have given if he was truly angry. Bones would have been fixing his own twisted wrist when he returned to the medical bay if he had angered his Captain. Something smelled rotten here and he didn’t like it.
"You aren’t pulling my leg at all, are you?" He tensed, eyes darting to each person around him who were of course all in their proper uniforms, the same uniform he now wore.
"Where am I?" His voice was low, and ended in a growl that far outmatched anything Jim’s Bones could have mustered on his worst day.
"On the USS Enterprise, like I said. It’s clearly not the one you’re used to, thought." And in deference to his friend, the one that was now missing, Jim pressed the tips of his fingers against the wing of the doctor’s shoulder, directing him into the turbolift without seeming too forceful. He had a feeling the man wouldn’t react favorable to that, if his current disposition was any sign.
"I have no use in pulling your leg, Doctor McCoy. Let me assure you," he continued, falling into the more formal rhythm of Standard he used when conversing with politicians and ambassadors rather than his habitual, colloquial way of speaking, "I have nothing to gain from that except lost time."
He pulled away from Jim's touch and started for the lift, feeling more and more like a caged animal as time went by. He didn't like this, if he wasn't sent back in the place of this kind little reflection.... his own Captain was not going to be pleased.
Some of his scars ached at the thought. He knew what already awaited him when he returned. A personal agonizer that James kept on him as punishment for being gone at all, maybe worse if it took too long to get back. "Yeah? Well you better explain this and get it fixed on the damn double. I've got placess to be." He snarled toward the other, eyes cutting like a knife in his direction.
"I bite back, viper, and you may not like what my fangs leave behind," He whispered lowly and gave her ear a little nip before he pulled away, leaning against his own little section of wall. "Even if your boyfriend will do his damndest to put me out of an air lock when I’m done."
"Haven’t you heard, I like a little bite? Can’t be anymore different than the others, unless you think you’re potent enough to leave a mark.” Nyota hummed as he moved away, a smirk tugging at her lips. “My boyfriend…” She rolled her eyes a little at that. “Mmm and why would that be? Her brow perked. “Just what’s lies in that oh so creative mind of yours, Doc?”
"You don't think I could leave my marks all over you?" He gave a little chuckle and came off of his piece of wall to press against her again, careful of any weapons they both had concealed on them. They didn't keep their positions being complete idiots after all. "What lies in my mind? I think I could do some creative things with a nice length of rope tied around those pretty little limbs, make you into art before I make ya wonder why you stay with that Vulcan."
Spock doubted McCoy could be much help to anyone or anything, and he certainly had no desire to be under his tender care. “I am missing the Medbay reports from Monday through Wednesday of last week. I have attempted requesting them from your yeoman, but apparently he seems to think he does not need to follow my orders—only yours.”
A smirk tugged at his lips and very slowly he moved up from the body he was currently cutting into and from the look of it slowly piecing back together. “Are you now? And what do you need my reports for exactly, Spock?”
"As Chief Science Officer I oversee Medical, a fact that you should be well aware of. I have reports to send to Starfleet, and I need the missing days before I can send it in. I dislike being late with my paperwork, Doctor, and believe me I will not fail to mention who is responsible for my tardiness should your missing days not be sent to me." Spock was in no mood for McCoy’s stubbornness. "If you do not want to get them for me, order your yeoman to do it. You have 30 minutes."
"And as Chief Medical Officer you're making it painfully easy to fabricate a report about how the pressures of being in your position are making you forget to ask me for reports... and I really am just so busy after all." He smirked, twiddling with the laser scalpel in his hand," Want to try asking nicely?"
