hello! this is just a blog dedicated to image iding things for those who need it. i’m honestly just going to image id any post that comes across my dash that doesn’t already have an id.

if there is a post you need described, then let me know, i’ll id it for you if i have the spoons. just send me the link and i’ll get it to you as soon as possible.

#note: i too have difficulty interpreting / seeing what images are at times so sometimes i’m going to be unable to help with those posts. in #that case then i’ll ask someone else to id it.#not an id

"squick free" someone writes on their wholesome family fic about married characters expecting a baby.

I read it and am extremely squicked.

You do not know what squicks other people. "Squick" is not a category of elements, it is a description of a reaction.

Squick is literally a personal thing, you literally cannot know what squicks another person.

Same goes for triggers, by the way. You can't guarantee something is trigger-free because literally anything can be a trigger because the human brain can be weird like that sometimes.

i'm genuinely having so much fun writing a jock protagonist. can't believe i never tried this before. all these years i've been limiting myself needlessly

i've created an extremely elaborate magic system based on linear algebra and not once does the narrator ever explain how it works. he doesn't know. he doesn't care. that's nerd shit. he is going on a lad's night out and if you try to tell him anything about equations he'll put his fingers in his ears and go "lalalala"

i feel it's important to add that my other protagonist is an academic and does know how the magic system works, but he doesn't get a POV chapter until halfway through the story. which means that over the course of 40,000 words we gradually build up a solid working idea of this world and its laws, as understood by Jock Protagonist - and then it switches to Nerd Protagonist, who's like, "just so we're clear, he was wrong about basically all of that."

sometimes instead of “why can’t they just be friends” i think it should be “why can’t they also be friends” because sometimes shipping feels much too much like forcing two pretty characters to kiss and be intimate without actually being interested in the dynamic the two people have. what about hanging out together. what about why they like being in each others company. what do they argue about. how do they patch things up. what do they laugh about.

whenever i feel like ive done something vaguely wrong or possibly upset someone in any sort of way my immediate thought is okay maybe i should kill myself like as an apology. which is definitely not a good kneejerk emotional response to be having but that's not the point the point is ive started thinking this exact exchange to myself and it makes me feel a little better every time
