For a few years now, we've been dressing the dogs up for Christmas. Angel and Bambi got cute little Christmas dresses, and Stuart got the Santa suit and hat pictured here. He was the only one out of the three of them that really didn't mind being dressed up. He was just such a happy-go-lucky dog. As I went to get Bambi and Angels' dresses from the end bedroom, where we'd been keeping them for the last two weeks, I came across Stuarts' Santa suit, hat and little stocking which we'd bought for him for his first Christmas. It finally hit me that we wouldn't be dressing him up this year. This is our first Christmas in 15 years without him. My heart broke all over again. Putting Stuart down was easily one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I hate that he isn't here with the rest of us. I hate that this hurts so much. I miss my dog. 💔

2006---->2016. Pictured in 2006: a self conscious, shy girl who finally figured out that make up and clothes came in colors other than black. She loved goofing off with friends(watching Homestarrunner cartoons, sleepovers, being on AIM for hours on end, schlepping around the Palmer Park Mall), being in color guard(though I was terrible at baton twirling) and singing my brains out to bands like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, The Used, My Chemical Romance and Sum 41. This was the year I discovered Taking Back Sunday on a long car ride to Vermont. My love for them has not yet waned. Pictured in 2016: Hey guys, look! I've got eyebrows! ‘No-Shave November’ Now Under Attack

Too manly? Insufficiently inclusive?

The tradition had a good run, but now, suddenly, No-Shave November (also known as Movember) is apparently problematic.

Social-justice warriors worldwide have rushed to point out how the month-long event, regardless of its good intentions, is too gendered. In a nearly unintelligible sentence published by Sydney’s Daily Telegraph this month, one critic wrote: “It’s disappointing that what could’ve served as a much-needed dialogue about the many ways in which men, trans men included, can express their masculinity without resorting to chauvinist caricatures is in danger of devolving into at best a pissing contest between bros about who can grow the most facial hair to prove their manliness and at worst an implicit endorsement of 1950s-style gender norms, complete with transphobia.”
