Thinking about the time I wore one of those “kiss whoever the fuck you want” shirts to school (with a shirt underneath) and started taking it off while I was waiting for my mom to pick me up, saying “my mom’s gonna beat my ass if she finds out I wore this to school.”

A kid standing next to me, sounding very concerned, told me “there’s nothing wrong with being gay.”

I then had to explain between apologies for the confusion that no, my mom wasn’t homophobic, in fact she bought me the shirt. It was because the shirt said fuck on it and I wore it to school.

The fucking funniest thing to me is Republicans thinking a liberal song is about their views. My father used to think American Idiot was about refusing to listen to liberal propaganda ruining America. I think he even said it was about groups like the queer and poc communities trying to take over, like the lead singer for Green Day isn’t a bisexual man.
