There is no such thing as being popular on this university campus. The only way to be considered ‘well-known’ was to be in the student union. And that was how you became ‘popular’.
You were the president of the university’s student union. You advocated for academic support, mental and personal support, social belonging, and so forth.
You had to build yourself for that role. You were an introvert at heart. You would rather shy away from the spotlight and hangout by yourself. But you always believed in advocating for other people’s rights and would put aside your introverted-ness to help those who needed it.
Your social battery was on the brink of dying, you were surrounded by so many people and you just wanted to go home and study for your bioethics midterm. You were walking with them and were focused on your phone, Flash wrapped his arm around your shoulder, “You coming with us for burgers?”
You shrugged his arm off, “No, I’ll pass.”
“Oh come on,” he whined.
“Flash, I’m good. I’m not hungry.” You said.
“Wherever you go I’ll come.” He responded.
“I’m gonna go to the library and study,” you said.
“You’re the president of the student union, why should you even study? You can dispute it.” You shot him a glare.
“It’s true,” he shrugged.
The more Flash spoke, the more you felt the urge of bashing your head into a steel door on campus. “I’m just gonna go to the washroom, I’ll meet you there.” You said, excusing yourself.
You walked into the washroom and held onto the counter and put your head down. You just wanted to be left alone and to study but Flash just wanted to annoy your soul.
You walked out and walked into the library, you noticed him at the tables in the far left corner and decided to snake around the bookstacks to avoid him. You were walking through the stacks before you found the perfect corner. You could tell it was less frequented because dust caked the pulp western books.
You dropped your bag and sat on the floor. Your eyes were starting to burn so you switched out of your contacts into your glasses. You took out the printed sheet of the midterm guide and your iPad and started reading through the lecture notes you took throughout the semester.
You were so immersed into the lecture on Selective Memory in Aging Populations, until the faint sound of ABBA broke your train of thought. You looked up, “Oh sorry, I didn’t know someone was here,” he shyly said.
“Oh no, I’m sorry, is this your study spot? I’ll move!” You said, grabbing your stuff.
“No you don’t have to move!” He said putting his arms out stopping you.
“It’s okay! This is your spot,” you said, “Wait, aren’t you in my bioethics class? You sit at the front,” you tried searching through your memory for his name, “Peter!”
“You know who I am? You’re the student union president and you know who I am?” He asked, a little shocked.
“Who doesn’t you’re like one of the smartest kids,” you said, “Take your spot, I can go get a table.”
“Wait, are you studying for the midterm, ‘cause if you’re studying for it, maybe we can study together, but you don’t have to if you want,” he babbled.
“I was studying for that midterm,” you smiled, “We can study together.”
You and Peter took a seat back on the floor, he took out his laptop and you two were slowly going through the lectures together.
He took his time explaining the things you were unsure of, which you were eternally grateful for because it saved you from going to office hours.
You two went through all the lectures that were going to be on the midterm and were even quizzing each other.
The lights flickered in the library which signaled that the library is going to close in 15 minutes. You two stopped talking about school and started finding things you had in common while packing up your stuff. “I always thought I was ancient listening to ABBA,” you joked.
“I love my 70s and 80s music,” he said, zipping up his backpack.
“You’re a man of taste,” you said, joking.
You and him were walking out of the library, “Are you going to the office?” He asked.
“I went in this morning,” you adjusted your bag strap, “I think I’m gonna go home.”
“Oh,” Peter said.
“Wait, are you hungry? Apparently there’s a hidden gem ramen restaurant near campus, if you would like, we can try it?” you asked.
“You want to go with me?” he asked, a little stunned.
“Yeah, why not?”
“You could choose anyone in the student union or any of your friends-” He started.
“You helped me study for my midterm, I owe you one,” you smiled at him.
“Sure,” he said coyly.

You learned a lot about Peter over ramen, he was really into STEM subjects and would rather be told to do chemical compounds than write an essay, he loves sci-fi and fantasy. On the other hand he learned that you were also into sci-fi and fantasy.
Peter was walking you home and you two were continuing the conversation you had earlier and learning more about each other. “How did you get into the student union?” He asked.
“Honestly I have no idea,” you shrugged, “I was in and somehow I got elected to be president.”
“Do you like it?” He asked, adjusting the backpack on his shoulder.
“Keeps me busy,” you joked.
The two of you stopped in front of your building, “Are you sure I’m not putting you out of your way?”
“I owe you because you paid for ramen,” he said.
“But you taught me stuff I didn’t understand,” you countered.
“I’ll see you soon Peter?” You asked.
“Yeah!” He smiled at you.

Since then, you and Peter always met in the pulp western stacks once a week and studied together. But you two also exchanged contact information so you guys were exchanging memes almost everyday.
Today, you two finished doing your worksheets for bioethics early and were sitting and exchanging snacks and conversation.
“How did you find this?” You asked.
“I was actually into pulp western for a second and found no one came here, and now I just study here,” he popped a gummy bear into his mouth, “How did you find it?”
“I’m very passionate about pulp westerns,” you joked.
“You constantly surprise me,” he joked.

You were walking to your afternoon bioethics lecture when you felt an arm wrapped around your shoulder. Unconsciously you rolled your eyes knowing it was Flash, “Where are you going today?”
“The same class that I have had for an entire semester,” you bluntly stated, shrugging his arm off you again.
“Skip class, you’re already passing,” He said, “Let’s go do something.”
“Flash, I am not doing that,” you stated flatly.
Flash was in the middle of persuading you to try and leave class and wrapped his arm around you. That was until your eyes landed on Peter standing outside of the lecture hall.
You immediately pushed Flash off of you and made a beeline to Peter. “Hi Peter!” You exclaimed enthusiastically.

You were leaving the student union office and were walking to the library to meet Peter for your usual meet up. You noticed Peter walking in front of you and was on the phone, and were going to call out but some words caught your attention.
“I don’t know what to do,” Peter said, “I really do like her, and I love these hangouts but Flash is always draping his arms around her and is hanging out with her. I feel like I don’t have a chance.”
You connected the dots, Peter was interested in you.
You felt so much relief hearing those words. You slowly started harbouring feelings for him. He was always so gentle with you, and you guys had so much in common, it was hard not to catch feelings.
But the absolute bane of your existence was somehow still screwing this up for you. Flash was like a speck of glitter you could not get rid of.
You took a little bit of a detour to find Flash before going to meet with Peter.

You rushed into the library, your conversation with Flash took a little longer than you anticipated. You did text Peter that you would be a little bit later than you thought, lying and blaming it on a meeting. You picked up his favourite gummy bears as an apology gift from the student centre.
You made your way to the pulp western section and saw Peter scribbling in his STEM notebook. “I brought gummy bears as a peace offering.”
“I was wondering when you would arrive,” he said, putting down the notebook.
“Got lost on my way,” you joked, sitting down and handing him the gummy bears.
He cleared his throat and looked at you, more seriously this time. “Can I ask you something?”
“Of course,” you said.
Peter glanced down at the gummy bears, then back up at you. His voice was a little shaky. “Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Why do you hang out with me?” he asked, eyes meeting yours. “You’re... you. You’ve got everything going on, and people are constantly pulling you in a million directions. But somehow, you still make time for this, for me.”
Your heart gave a small, nervous lurch. But instead of pulling away from it, you let yourself smile.
“It does,” you said softly. “It means a lot.”
Peter looked surprised but still unsure. “So… you feel the same?”
You nodded, your smile deepening. “I wouldn’t be hiding in a dusty corner of the library with anyone else, Peter. I like you. I’ve liked you for a while. I just… didn’t know if you felt the same.”
Peter let out a breath that sounded like relief and laughed quietly. “Flash was around you so often, I was so convinced I didn’t have a chance because of him.”
“I literally duck behind shelves to avoid him,” you joked, “How do you think I ended up here?”
He grinned, and for a moment, the air between you shifted.
“Okay,” he said. “So what now?”
You looked down at the gummy bears between you. “Now we study. And maybe after that we go back to that ramen shop. Not gonna lie, I’ve been thinking about that miso ramen for weeks now.”

Was the first of the many poems that you found in art books in the book return.
You started receiving poems about four months ago. Initially, you thought it was just someone working on something and they accidentally left it in a book and returned it. You notified your colleagues that in case someone came looking for it, it would be in the black binder behind the desk.
At some point you deemed it as a prank because you were constantly getting them and the weird part was, the books were only returned when you worked. You brushed it off thinking it was another pateron playing a prank, until it started being left on the desk.
One night it was just you and Wanda working the library during midterm season, when the poem was left in the book on the check in desk. You were busy reshelving the books and Wanda was in the bathroom so neither of you were able to catch the culprit.

You, Wanda, and Nat were walking to the student lounge to grab something to eat after your 10 am Digital Cultures and Social Media class. “Memes as modern mythology,” Nat grumbled, “Who the fuck analyzes memes?”
“Are you still pressed about the assignment?” You asked.
“She didn’t start,” Wanda pointed out.
“Hold on, Ms. Romanoff didn’t start an assignment yet?” You asked in disbelief.
“God forbid a woman has other classes she has to deal with,” Natasha said while taking a sip of coffee.
You opened the door and held it open for Wanda and Nat, “You are the queen of multitasking, I simply don’t believe that you can’t manage time properly.”
“She has new priorities,” Wanda said, wiggling her eyebrows.
“He is not distracting me,” Natasha hissed.
“We never mentioned a he,” You retorted.
The three of you lined up for the hot bar place, “Are you still getting those poems?” Natasha asked, changing the topic.
“You are changing the topic!”
“Nothing is gonna happen with that love life, might as well interrogate the one that seems to have movement,” Natasha said.
“He keeps leaving poems on the front desk for her,” Wanda chimed.
“It’s not for me,” you shot back.
“You are the only one getting them, it doesn’t happen when I work. Doesn’t happen when Carol works. Doesn’t happen when Peter works. There’s one common denominator,” Wanda argued.
“It’s a prank,” you declared.
“Who the fuck goes through that much writing, and hassle to ensure you get it, and it happens to be a prank. Be fucking for real.” Natasha argued.
“Nat’s right you know? If it was a prank they would do maybe five max. It’s been what? Five months?” Wanda stated
“Four,” you corrected under your breath.
“See! So you do know!” Wanda said in a matter of a fact tone.
“Have you ever tried, I don’t know, checking who checked out the book,” Natasha said to the both of you. You and Wanda looked at each other in disbelief. “You two dimwits didn’t think of this?”

You and Wanda were working late at the library again. You both delegated tasks to each other, so the faster you two finish, the faster you two can go back to gossiping. You were putting glue into the spine of a book to fix it.
“Excuse me?”
That snapped you out of your concentration, you looked up and your jaw almost dropped. Standing in front of you was the cutest man you’ve ever seen. “Hi,” you smiled, “How can I help you?”
“I was wondering if you could check if there was a book in the library for me?” He asked.
“Of course,” you jiggled the mouse, “What’s the title?”
“Indigenous Enslavement in U.S. History,” he said, reading the title off his phone.
You typed it in and searched through the system, “This one seems popular, both copies are out.”
“Shit,” he cursed.
“Need it for an assignment?” You asked, looking at him.
“Yeah, I have time though. It’s due in a few weeks, I just wanted a head start.” He said.
“You’re better than me,” you joked, “I would’ve waited until three days before it’s due.”
“You’re better than my roommate, he would wait until the morning of to do it,” he joked.
“One copy comes back on Thursday if you want?” You asked.
“Can I hold it?” He asked.
“Of course, let me grab your name,” you clicked on the field.
“Steve Rogers,” he responded.
“Nice to meet you,” you replied and introduced yourself.
“That’s a beautiful name,” he said.
“Thank my parents for it,” you joked again, “You’ll get an email to come collect it when it gets back in the library.”
“Thank you,” he said with gratitude.

You were in the kitchen making tea, when you felt someone nudge your ribs. “So who was that?”
“Nothing gets past you, huh?” You asked, pouring a spoonful of sugar into the cup.
“You two totally hit it off,” Wanda said, grabbing her own cup.
“It was someone looking for a book, nothing romantic about that,” you retorted.
“He was making googly eyes at you!” She exclaimed.
“He was probably making googly eyes at Indigenous history,” you said, pouring the hot water into the cup.
“Are you that dense?” Wanda asked.
“Wanda, this is a library, where people come to study and find books. Not find love.” You stated, pouring milk into your tea.
“Oh my god, what if he’s the poem bandit?” Wanda exclaimed.
“That’s where your mind went to?” You asked, walking out with Wanda trailing closely behind.
“Give me a valid reason as to why he can’t be the poem bandit?” She asked.
“He was looking for a boo—” You stopped in your tracks.
Wanda looked at you confused, she followed your eyes and looked to where you were staring. There sat another art history book with a piece of paper sticking out. “Poem bandit!”
You slowly put down your cup and hesitated to pick up the book, your photos gently grazed the cover. You picked it up and pulled out the poem.

Wanda immediately smacked your arm and pushed you to the side, “Move, let me see who checked this out.”
You held the note in your hand and kept rereading it.
Wanda scanned the barcode, “It hasn’t been checked out.”
The two of you looked at each other, dumbfounded.

“So you guys found nothing,” Natasha said, throwing down the french fry she was holding.
You and Wanda returned home after 12 am from your shift and grabbed food for the three of you on the way back.
“Nat, the book was last checked out in 2022,” Wanda said, taking a bite of her burger.
“So the man is just in the library, writing poems and leaving,” Natasha said, putting together the pieces.
“I think it’s the blond guy she was talking to today,” Wanda stated.
Natasha shot a look at you, while you were getting up to go to the kitchen. “Who?” she asked.
“Wanda is convinced that a random pateron who was looking for a book is what she calls the poem bandit,” you responded, grabbing napkins from the kitchen.
“How can you be so sure it isn’t him?” Wanda once again interrogated.
“Wanda, not everyone is the poem bandit.” You stated.

You, Wanda, and Natasha were in the library. You were sitting in the high chair, Wanda stood leaning against the book return, and Natasha was standing on the other side of the checkout desk. “This was the book,” Wanda said, handing the book to Natasha.
“Can we put the poem bandit behind us?” You asked.
“He is infatuated by you!” Wanda exclaimed, “We have to meet him.”
“You wanna meet the soul that leaves me poems?” You asked.
“He keeps torturing you, of course we want to meet him,” Natasha joked.
“Excuse me?” Someone called out.
You looked up and saw Steve. “Hi Steve.”
“Hi, your book is in. Let me grab it for you.” You smiled, getting up.
Wanda and Natasha shot looks at each other while you and Steve were exchanging small talk whilst checking out the book.
Steve got the book and bid goodbye to the three of you and going to sit at a table.
“I see where Wanda is coming from,” Natasha laughed.
“God, not you too,” you groaned.

For the week, you were dealing with nonstop teasing from Wanda and Natasha over the poem bandit and Steve.
You were reshelving books when Peter came up, “Could you watch the front for a second? I need to use the washroom,” he shyly asked.
“Go,” you smiled, “I got you.”
Peter thanked you profusely and ran off to the staff washroom. You looked over to the clock and saw you had about an hour left on your shift. You walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.
You were looking at your phone and walked out and noticed a figure leaving a book on the desk, “Hey!” you called out.
The person froze, you walked up to the desk, “Steve?” You questioned.
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath.
“You’re the poem bandit?” You asked.
Steve started stuttering and tripping over his words. With all the random words he was spewing, he finally said a coherent sentence. “I am so sorry. I didn’t think you would find out.”
“Was this entire thing a prank?” You asked.
“No, no no. I just couldn’t bring myself to talk to you.” He said, scratching the back of his neck.
“Why didn’t you come up and try talking to me?” You questioned.
“Do you not read the poems?” He joked, “You’re so outgoing, it’s actually intimidating.”
“But you asked me about the Indigenous history book?”
“Only after one of my friends told me I was a pussy, I couldn’t give him the satisfaction.”
“So you mean the poems?” You asked, once again.
“Every word in it. You caught my eye since the summer, and I couldn’t bring myself to talk to you,” he said sheepishly.
“Your poems were the highlight of my shift,” you said, smiling at him.
His face lit up, “Can I take you out properly this weekend?”
Summary: You've been stress baking because you've been stressed over work. Because you have so many desserts, you started leaving treats for the night shift security guard.

A/N: it's been almost 4 years since i've last posted something, and i deeply apologize. and i also deeply apologize if my work is rusty, i actually haven't wrote ANYTHING (other than research papers) since my last post. please accept this as an apology. - amanda
Remember when you were a kid and you always wanted to hurry up and grow up? If you could go back in time, you would definitely have smacked yourself or at least told yourself to cherish your youth.
Now, here you were, back aching, cookies baking, and your nails tapping against your computer keyboard attempting to finish a PowerPoint presentation on your newest marketing research findings due in the morning.
For the past nine months you were tasked with finding out how to sell nostalgia for your company. Those nine months were absolutely brutal. Everyday you would come home and just work until 4 am. But everyday for the past 9 months you had the same hobby while working, baking.
For some reason your brain knew it couldn’t turn off if there was something in the oven. Because of this project, you managed to produce pies, cookies, cakes, the whole nine yards.
The first three baking expeditions, you kept the baked goods. But everyday there was something new being baked and you couldn’t consume the desserts fast enough. You were offering it to neighbours, coworkers, friends; if someone had a stomach, you were offering them your baked goods.
Somewhere around the four month mark, you started leaving baked goods for the night security staff. They were awake at ungodly hours protecting your building, they deserve something sweet.
You were so entranced with finishing this PowerPoint, the only thing that broke your concentration was the kitchen timer blaring, indicating that your cookies were done.
You hopped off the chair and navigated towards the kitchen, you pulled the cookies out of the oven and let them cool on the wire rack you set up when you were done cleaning.
You knew they had to cool for a few more minutes before taking it downstairs to the security guard. You picked up the sticky note and grabbed the pen that was next to your computer, and scribbled a quick note.
“Sorry for torturing you with all of these baked goods, I promise this is the last one.”
You went back to work for a little bit before another timer broke your concentration, you packed the cookies into a small takeout box and stuck the sticky note to the top of the lid.
While in the elevator, you took a look at the time and winced. 3:17 am. You knew that you had to finish the PowerPoint by 4:30 am to even be able to get up and be able to present it to upper management.
You were practically racing against the clock at this point. You walked to the front desk and saw that the night security guard was not there. This was not new. Everytime you came down, he was not there. You assumed that he was doing his rounds, or he was watching the cameras in the back, or maybe he went for a smoke break.
You left the box on the front desk and practically ran back up to your apartment to finish your presentation.
The presentation was a success and upper management took your findings seriously. That was the only win you got for the day. Everything else was sleep deprived losses. Since you got off the train, your body was absolutely screaming at you to hurry up and get home and rest.
You buzzed into your apartment complex and waved at the evening shift worker. You normally would hold a conversation but your eyes were so heavy that you might fall asleep mid-conversation.
You got into your apartment, grabbed a cookie from the counter and made a beeline to the shower to wash the gunk of the office off you.
That night you slept like an absolute baby. Nine months of no sleep made you sleep almost a full thirteen hours.
You were walking to the front door, phone in hand, cookie in mouth, checking up on the texts you missed while you were practically in a coma. Still oblivious to the world, you pull a pair of heels out and put them on. You finally broke contact with your phone to grab your keys when you noticed a white envelope on your floor.
You questioned if you dropped your mail walking in, but you were so tired yesterday that you didn’t even grab your mail. You shoved your phone in your bag and the remainder of your cookie in your mouth before picking up the envelope and inspecting it.
You thought maybe your mail went elsewhere and someone returned it. But there was nothing on the front with your name. You opened the envelope and there was a note inside.

Everyone knows that Wanda Maximoff is the biggest candle consumer ever. Something about the warmth of the candle and the scent that follows, just seems to make everything better.
It was one of the rare days that Wanda had off, and decided to go to one of her favourite parks in New York, Prospect Park.
On her way out, Wanda was walking down Empire Avenue and was automatically drawn to this small candle shop. The exterior automatically had this warm aura to it. The open glass windows gave Wanda the opportunity to look in, and it screamed ‘home’ to her.
Wanda opened the door to the tiny shop, upon her arrival a little bell dinged and she was greeted with soft radio pop and a heavy peach scent.
“Hi there! Welcome to Scent Market! Let me know if you need any help!” She heard a voice beam out from the corner.
Wanda turned her head to the corner to track the sound, and was blown away. You had to be the most breathtaking woman she has ever seen. Yet you were only wearing a pair of ripped jeans, a form fitting long sleeved shirt, and a pair of sneakers. “Hi,” Wanda managed to shyly get out.
You smiled at Wanda, and Wanda swore she resembled melting candle wax. Wanda looked around the tiny shop, grabbing some candles and smelling it as she went. But she still kept an eye on you out of the corner of her eye.
It seemed as if you were either doing inventory, or were picking out orders. As Wanda turned herself back to the candle that was marked as Frozen Margarita. The hints of citrus, and melon jumped out at her. “If you like that one, I definitely do recommend the Citrus Splash,” you said coming up to her. “Less lemon and lime, more orange.”
“That sounds up my alley,” Wanda laughed, “Can I see it?”
You let out another smile towards her and she swears she never felt that much warmth from someone, “Of course, follow me.”
You handed Wanda an orange candle encased in a glass jar, she took the top off and smelt it, “This is wonderful. I also want to know which scent do you currently have burning?” Wanda asked, while smelling the candle.
“Oh that’s Peach Sugar Kiss! Here lemme get it for you,” you responded, before going to the fixture next to Citrus Splash.
“Are these handmade?” Wanda asked, taking the Peach Sugar Kiss from you.
“Yes they are, they are soy candle wax with essential oils mixed in,” you responded.
“Wow, you must be super talented,” Wanda said looking at the Tropical Mango candle, while looking at you.
You let out a giggle, and Wanda swore that as time passed she would melt even more, “No, that’s my business partner Trish. She makes them, I sell them. Unstoppable duo, you know?”
Wanda smiled at her giggle, “Ah so you’re the brains.”
You chuckled, “Pretty much.”
You and Wanda walked around the store, with you recommending different candles, her smelling them, and you both basking in each other’s company. Upon doing a lap around the whole store, you turned to her, “Is that it for today?”
“I guess so,” Wanda said, placing the Citrus Splash, Peach Sugar Kiss, and Apple Blossom candle on the counter.
“Lemme get that rung up for you,” you smiled.
As you were cashing Wanda out, you two continued to crack jokes. You wrapped the candles in a light peach wrapping paper, and into a black bag. “See you around?” You asked.
“With candles like these? You will be seeing me more often,” Wanda said, smiling.
“Have a good day!” You called out, as Wanda was leaving.

It was almost like clock work. Wanda would buy a single candle every time she goes, burn it until there is nothing left, and she would be back at the shop.
“So is there a reason today we’re burning,” Natasha squinted to read the candle, “Apple Blossom? What happened to Blooming Berry?”
“I finished it,” Wanda nonchalantly responded as she packed away her hoodies.
“Wanda, that's your 3rd candle this week.” Natasha retorted.
“What can I say? The candles are good.” Wanda responded as she packed away her jeans.
“We all know you are a massive candle consumer, but this? This is a new level.” Natasha said, studying Wanda.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Wanda responded.
“Take me to this candle shop, I wanna see what the fuss is about.” Natasha responded.
“No!” Wanda responded too quickly, which resulted in a raised eyebrow from Natasha, “I mean, no they’re closed right now. I’ll take you when they are open.”

Wanda forgot how serious Natasha is, as Natasha held her to taking her to the candle shop. The two were walking to the shop, and the pair stopped in front of it, “It looks cozy, now I know why you like it.”
Wanda let out a small sigh of relief, that Natasha thinks it’s because of the aura the shop gives off. Upon the two walking into the shop, they were greeted with a, “Hi! Welcome to Scent Market!” You beamed from the back, which Wanda naturally returned with a smile.
“I’m back!” Wanda announced, to which you now smiled at.
“Welcome back Wands, we got some new candles for you to try out,” you said, coming up to the duo. “Hi there,” you smiled at Natasha as you introduced yourself to her.
“I’m Natasha, Wanda’s best friend,” she said, shaking her hand. “I gotta know, do you have more fresh scents? Wanda keeps burning fruits, and I’m kinda getting tired.”
“You are just a downer, you don’t like cutesy smells.” Wanda stuck her tongue out.
“Lucky for you and your sanity, we do,” you chuckled, “Are there certain scents you like?”
“I just want to feel like I spent the entire day cleaning, and there’s that after scent,” Natasha responded.
“I got a good one for you,” you walked over to the fixture, “Lakeside Waters. Smells kinda like the ocean, some driftwood, and minor hints of orange.”
Natasha took the candle from you and took a small inhale, “The orange is very minimal, I like this, do you have anymore?”
You took Natasha around the store and showed her similar scents to Lakeside Waters. Natasha holding onto the scents that she loves the most.
Majority would be pissed off at how easily the two of them bond, but not to Wanda. She was in awe that you managed to mesh in with them so easily.
You managed to introduce Natasha to Lakeside Waters, Sugared Lemonade, and Eucalyptus Spearmint. Whereas Wanda got Raspberry Mimosa, just so she has a reason to keep going back to the shop.
As you were cashing them out, you continued to crack jokes with the two of them. You were walking them to the door, “So Wands, will I see you soon?” You smiled.
Wanda instantly let out a goofy smile, “Of course. I’ll make sure to leave Natasha at home.”
“I’m offended,” Natasha feigned offence.
“Don’t worry, you’re always welcomed back,” you smiled at the duo.
The three of you bid your goodbyes, you walked to the desk and bit a small corner of your lip trying to hide your giddiness.
On the other hand, the moment Natasha and Wanda left the shop, Natasha let out a, “No wonder you keep going back to this candle shop.”

Of course Wanda hit the bottom on Raspberry Mimosa within two and a half days of getting it. Which prompted her to return back to Scent Market. Every time she walked in, she felt as if she was greeted the first time, “Wanda!” You called out.
Wanda instantly smiled at the sound of your voice, “Raspberry Mimosa was amazing. Do you have any others?”
“I’m running low on options to give you Wands,” you joked.
“I might have to go and try something sweet next.” Wanda responded, following you to the fixture.
“We got everything you could possibly need,” you reached for the Peach Bellini candle, “ I know you like peach a lot, so tada, Peach Bellini; white peach, prosecco, and a hint of orange.”
“You got my scent notes down, huh?” Wanda said, amazed at the detail that you pay attention to her.
“Of course. I gotta make sure I have my favourite clients scent list noted,” you smiled, as you took her to the front to cash her out.
“I feel honoured,” Wanda said, pulling out her wallet.
The two of you continued to joke, while you cashed Wanda out. Every moment that passes, she feels more and more drawn to you. Wanda knew that when she got home she would have to try and work out a way to ask you out, but until then she would bask in your companionship.

That night Wanda sat at her desk, pen and notepad in front of her, trying to come up with ideas to go about asking you out. Each idea was futile.
She reached for her phone to call Natasha over for some help, but remembered she was out with Clint for their weekly dinner. Wanda groaned, and ran her fingers through her hair. She leaned back, struggling to come up with ideas.
Wanda decided that maybe burning the candle she got today would help flow her ideas. She opened the tiny black bag, and to her surprise, there was a second candle.
Wanda cautiously took the candle out of the bag and noticed a heart sticker rather than your usual clear tape. She gently unravelled it, to reveal a beautiful peach coloured candle with no label.
She was confused. Opening the candle she saw a piece of paper, she gently placed it on her desk and continued to smell the candle; heavy on the peach, light vanilla notes. She smiled and picked up the note.
Wanda let a goofy smile escape her lips as she read the note that was signed as you.
I have no name for it yet. I call it Peach Tea and Vanilla; peach tea, vanilla creme, and some oat milk. This is a special one for you, call me sometime and we could work out a name over coffee?

First year religion, with Professor Hill was quite possibly the most boring class to exist, but hey, that’s how you met Bucky Barnes. First year religion was a mandatory course that you had to take for psychology, and Bucky had to take for history. During the first lecture Prof Hill made you turn to the person next to you and discuss ideas, which happened to be Bucky.
The two of you felt so comfortable with each other, that you were always sitting next to each other during lectures, and eventually becoming the bestest of friends. To the point where you two spent breaks together, Friday nights together, hell he even came to a few of your classes, even though he shouldn’t be there as he wasn’t enrolled in them.
Even Bucky was surprised at this close friendship. He always had the small thought in the back of his mind saying, “She’s just using you for an easy ninety. Once the semester is over, she’s gone.” But to his surprise, here you were in your fourth year, still as strong as ever.
He could pinpoint the moment he realized he was in love with his best friend.
Second year, it was a random party that Thor was holding around early November. You were wearing a basic grey long sleeved shirt, some dark blue ripped jeans, and a pair of heels. You were dancing with Nat and Wanda, and he felt the switch in him flip, and he saw you in an affectionate way.
Needless to say, he left the party and went through a crisis at two am in the back of an Uber, at his new realization.
Since that day, he kept his feelings to himself. Not even telling his best friend Steve about the feelings he harboured towards you.
He always felt insecure whenever he was around you. You were always glowing, even when you had no makeup on and were in sweats on the days you had 9 am lectures. You were always this ball of sunshine that anyone would be glad to hang out with. But here he was, stomach protruding over the top of his jeans, sweaters used to hide how thick his arms actually were, and all around embarrassed about the way he looks. You could never possibly like someone like him back.

It was the rare Friday night, where the two of you couldn’t meet because you had a gender studies essay to write, and he had an essay due for ancient civilizations. But, of course, the two of you were on FaceTime.
“You going to Thor’s party tomorrow?” He asked, typing in his name and student number.
“Depends, I still have three readings and a discussion post over my head for Drax.” You responded, finishing up the last sentence.
“You should come, you’ve been pulling essays out of your ass since the semester started. You need to have some fun,” Bucky said, studying your face as you yawned.
“Perks of being a social science major,” you responded, making slight adjustments to your essay.
“Please?” He begged, “I need my best friend there.”
“We will see.”

God, three years later, and he still didn’t understand how you pulled off every look possible. Last night you were in one of his hoodies, hair greased, and no makeup on. Today you were pulling off a slightly oversized band tee, some ripped jeans, hairstyled and effortless makeup.
“Didn’t expect you to be around here, thought Drax owned you tonight” Bucky jokes.
“Thought about it. But a certain Brooklyn boy talked me into coming. There’s always pulling an all nighter tomorrow night,” you said, taking a drink from your cup.
“Glad to know I am useful.”
The two of you spent a good chunk of time talking by the bar. The two of you didn’t stop until Sam pulled him away for some beer pong.
You debated going over to your friend group, but from where you were, it looked like they were wasted out of their minds. And talking to them will probably result in them drunkenly saying that you should fess up and admit your crush to Bucky. And knowing your exact luck, he would be around, and that would be a hard hole to dig yourself out of.
You decided that you were gonna get some peace in the kitchen. You were sitting on one of the counters, hearing drunken screams, while scrolling through Instagram.
“You know, it would be easy to tell him how you feel,” you look up to match the voice to the person, only to see Steve.
“And I am assuming Nat did some drunk mumbling to you,” you mumbled, looking down into your cup.
“Or anyone with eyes could see the way the two of you look at each other,” Steve said, leaning against the fridge next to the counter you sat on.
You let out a sigh, “He doesn’t see me in that way. I’m just his best friend.”
“He looks at you like you hung every single star in this galaxy. I should know, I was told I look like that when I look at Nat.”
You laughed and punched him in the bicep, “At least the loverboy admits it.”
Bucky was looking for you, passing by the kitchen he saw that you and Steve were smiling, laughing and talking. He never realized how much of a couple the two of you looked like. Absolutely perfect for each other.
He felt nauseous and decided to head home. Of course you wouldn’t like him, you liked guys who were fit, like Steve. An absolute sweetheart, like Steve. Someone who could care for you, like Steve. Steve.

The next morning, he saw that you were calling and kept the talking to a minimum, saying he didn’t feel good and hung up.
He needed to get his feelings in check before he exploded.
From then on, he always scheduled stuff with Steve too. You deserved it.
You deserved happiness, even if it was with Steve and not him.
He would make coffee dates on campus, and never show up. Or invite you for movie night at the apartment, and at the absolute last second ‘have his shift extended’ at work.

At some point, he just started blatantly ignoring you. From phone calls, to texts, to even practically running away from you.
The last straw for you was the day your sociology professor let you go early for the day. And you were already feeling under the weather, so you just decided to head back to your dorm, and spend the rest of your day taking it easy.
While you were walking down the tunnel from your class, you saw an all familiar head of hair walking in the opposite direction. You shouted his name several times, and practically ran after him. And you knew he saw and heard you, but continued to walk away from you.
You finally stopped, realization hitting you. He doesn’t like you anymore, and you don’t know what you did. You took a deep breath, turned around and walked back to your dorm.
You sat on your bed, confused as to what the fuck you did to him for him to do this. At that point, you gave him the space he wanted. You stopped texting him, calling him, even going over to his apartment.

What caused Bucky to do all of this? Two days prior, he finished his contemporary civilizations class and was on his way to the student centre to get something to eat before his colonial encounters class.
When he walked into the centre, he was greeted with you and Steve sitting at a table, laughing about something, while drinking bubble tea.
He felt something stab him in the chest. It’s supposed to be him. He’s supposed to be the one taking you out for bubble tea. He’s supposed to be the one making you laugh like that.
It was then he realized, he didn’t set up this meeting. He drew the conclusion, that he pushed the two of you closer together, and that neither of them wanted him to know.
He knew he was acting childish. But he didn’t care.

Since the encounter after your sociology class, you haven’t messaged him, called him, or even made the effort to see him. It was starting to bother him. He felt empty.
He missed the random texts he would get from you about something stupid in your readings. Or the ‘I accidentally watched too much Netflix, and my discussion post is due in an hour and I have NOTHING’ texts. Or you randomly calling in the middle of the night asking him if he wanted to meet up for milkshakes.
All he would see was Instagram stories or posts of you. Whether it was you at a party getting wasted with your friends, or if it was you being cozy and studying, or you and your friends doing late night stupidity. He missed having you around.
Every single thought he has, would be of you. What were you doing? Who were you hanging out with? Did you get enough sleep? Did you eat anything for the day?
He eventually decided to start essays early just so his thoughts weren’t fogged by you.

Bucky was wrapping up his notes on his latest reading. As he closed his textbook, he felt something collide with the back of his head. He turned around to see Steve sitting on his bed. “What?”
“Why are you ignoring her?” Steve asked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Bucky turned back around.
“You damn well know what I am talking about. So, answer the question, why are you ignoring her?” Steve asked.
“Why do you care? That’s your girlfriend.” Bucky seethed.
A laugh erupted from Steve, “She’s not my girlfriend.”
“Then why do the two of you act like it.” He muttered.
“Because she’s giving me pointers on asking out Nat,” he responded, “I bet you feel so stupid.”
Bucky turned back around in shock, “Wait, you’re not dating her?”
“Never was. It’s cute seeing how jealous you are,” Steve said, getting up, “Go get your girl.”

Bucky has never sprinted out of his apartment so fast. He was about to walk up the stairs leading to your dorm, when he was about to open the door, the door opened revealing Carol. “Oh hey Buck. What are you doing here? You know she moved out like last month right?” she asked.
He never realized that you left the dorms, hell he didn’t even know where you were now. “Oh yeah, force of habit.” He nervously laughed.
“Anyways, I’m late for my date. Tell her I said hi!” She said walking off.

Bucky returned to the apartment and was pacing around. He didn’t know where you could have gone. Nat and Wanda had no space, so you wouldn’t be there. Your parents were way too far out, and you wouldn’t want to commute all the way back. His mind was running through possibilities.
Steve and Sam were just looking on at the spiral that was occurring in front of them. “Does he…?” Sam asked.
“Nope.” Steve responded.
“Ah.” Sam responded.
“Where could she have gone though? I don’t get it.” Bucky said to himself.
“Can I tell him?” Steve asked.
“Nah.” Sam said.
“Wait, you guys know where she is? Why don’t you tell me?” Bucky said with despair laced in his voice.
Sam sighed, “Nat and Wanda.”
And with that Bucky practically sprinted out the door.

Wanda and Nat were out for the night, leaving you in the living room finishing up your essay for sociology. Wrapping it up, you slapped the submit button, and headed for the shower.
Upon getting out and changing into some sweatpants and hoodie, you were contemplating what you wanted to eat. Until you heard a knock on the door, confused, you opened it to Bucky, you were about to close it but he managed to let out a, “Can I talk to you?”
You were about to say, “No.”
But once you heard his voice cracked, when he said, “Please,” your heart broke, and accepted talking to him.

The two of you sat on top of the building overlooking the city. Bucky was looking at the view of the city, whereas, you were sitting on the bench.
He took note that you were shivering, and he shrugged off his jacket, wrapping you up in it. You were trying to shrug it off, when he said, “You’re gonna get sick.” You accepted that he was probably gonna tie you up in it so you don’t take it off, so you kept it on.
“So why did you ignore me?” You said, looking down at your feet.
“I thought you were dating Steve, and I got jealous. I know I pushed the two of you together, but I still couldn’t bear the thought of him being the one dating you.” He muttered, taking a seat next to you.
“Wait, you were jealous? Why?” You asked, confusion laced your voice.
“I really like you, god I’ve liked you for so long and you deserve someone better than me. Someone who’s fitter, someone who’s better looking, someone you would want to be seen with.” He said, looking down at his feet, hair falling into his face.
You pushed the hair out of his face, “No. I deserve someone who is willing to pick me up for burgers and milkshakes at 3 am. I deserve someone who is willing to drop anything they're doing to come and spend time with me. I deserve someone who would respond to my psych readings, even though they aren’t in my program. I deserve you.”
“You like me?” Bucky stammered.
“Wasn’t it obvious?” You asked. “I thought me calling you at three am because I missed you was obvious.
He wrapped his arm around you and pulled you closer, kissed your hair before muttering an, “I’m sorry.”
“I’m only accepting your apology under one condition,” you said.
He looked at you with the biggest eyes ever. Ready to do anything you even asked for. “Get bubble tea with me?” You asked.
“How about tomorrow we take a trip out of the city, to a zoo or aquarium, and bubble tea?” He said with pleading eyes.
“Only if it’s a date,” you said smiling at him.
“Anything for you.” he said, finally leaning into kiss you.
