*cracks knuckles* Okay, letâs get back in this saddle, yeah?

When everyone had dispersed to their rooms in the compound â either returning to old rooms or finding new ones â Sam quietly snuck his way to Tonyâs. The door was unlocked, and he gave the usual two quick knocks and waited a few seconds before stepping inside.
Tony was undoing his cuffs, sparing Sam only a brief glance before focusing his gaze back downwards.
Sam walked up to him, hesitating only a moment before gently brushing Tonyâs hands aside and taking over the shirt buttons. Tony let him, letting out a deep and slow breath, head tilting back and eyes closing.
âThis okay?â Sam asked, voice hushed, as he reached the last button.
âYeah.â
He pushed the shirt off of Tonyâs shoulders, tossing it over towards the hamper, and went to work on the belt. Tony took back over dressing after that, and Sam stripped off his own shirt and jeans. They crawled into bed together, Sam clutching Tony close. Heâd missed this. Since everything fell apart, heâd missed this. The physical intimacy.
Theyâd been exchanging letters since a few months after Steve broke Sam out of The Raft. Thereâd been accusations and apologies and confessions, fear and guilt and love expressed through words.
Somehow, somehow⊠theyâd managed to work things out between them, to save the relationship theyâd had.
Hands shaking, Sam curled himself more into Tonyâs chest and closed his eyes tight.
There was one thing theyâd never talked about.
Sam had never asked. Tony never offered.
That probably said a lot.
âI know⊠I know that something went down, in Siberia. Steve wonât talk about it; Barnes was down an arm.â He waited, but Tony said nothing, fingers still stroking through Samâs short hair in an easy, slow rhythm. âWhat happened, Tony?â
After what felt like several intense moments of silence, Tony said, âIf I tell you, you have to promise me not to make a big deal out of it.â
Sam tensed.
âIâm⊠mostly over it. Enough so that I can work with them both. I donât â if things get made a big deal out of, itâll just make it all fresh again, make it harder for everyone to work together.â He paused. âI donât know if Iâll ever really be able to forgive Steve, Sam. But I can enough to work with him. To be friendly. But not if weâre reliving that mess again.â
Sighing, Sam said, âFine. Iâll not make a big deal out of it.â
âOr bother Steve?â
âOr bother Steve. Or Barnes. Not about Siberia, at least.â
âFair enough,â Tony said, and blew out a bracing breath.
Slowly, Tony recited events from then. Pieces fell into place that Sam had been missing, Steveâs anger and odd guilt, Barnesâ quiet resignation. Sam breathed through the anger â with all three of them, honestly; with Zemo especially â and just listened.
When Tony trailed off, Sam knew he was leaving something out. He pressed a kiss to Tonyâs chest, and Tonyâs fingers twitched against his back.
âNone of us were willing to stop,â Tony said, voice only trembling a little. âSteve⊠brought the shieldâŠ.â
Sam realized he wasnât breathing, that the only sound was Tonyâs slightly rough and slightly too fast breathing.
âI got lucky. The suit was totaled, but the metal didnât tear too badly through the undersuitâs material, and â I mean there was some serious muscle bruising and a few fractures butâŠ. It could have been much worse. My arm was the worst damage, and that was from the airport.â
Eyes closed, Sam struggled to find some calm in the fear and anger burning through him. He grappled for it, because Tony didnât need his anger, he needed Samâs calm, Samâs acceptance.
âI love you,â was all Sam could find it in himself to offer.
Tony squeezed him closer. âI love you, too.â
~*~*~
Sam didnât âmake a big deal out of itâ, like Tony had asked of him. He barely even glared at Steve the next morning, in fact.
He spent more time around Tony. That could easily be explained as missing his boyfriend, of course, so no one questioned it. He knew if he tried to hang around Steve just yet, with his anger and frustration and fear still simmering so close in his chest, heâd break his promise to Tony.
Keeping a promise to Tony was more important to him than giving Steve a talking too, like he deserved.
His boyfriend could defend himself if he wanted to. Sam needed to step back.
For now, at least.
Until this whole new mess was taken care of.
Until he was calmer.
Then, maybe, he and Steve would have a talk about âextreme optionsâ and âtriggering past traumaâ and Sam would make it clear that if Steve wasnât one of his best friends, and Tony hadnât made it clear that he was mostly over it (and guilty of being just as vicious in the fight), Sam would not just be talking to Steve.
Then heâd maybe have to figure out a way to hit Steve good for lying to Tony for years, whether or not heâd had good intentions.

(Watch out for the read more)
Tony lay on the couch with his head pillowed on Bucky's stomach and his legs draped over Rhodey's thighs. It had been a particularly rough day for Tony.
Tony since he was little had been nervous about meeting his soulmates. He'd grown up knowing there was the possibility of disappointing three more people in his life.
He'd already disappointed his parents and he wasn't sure how he was going to deal with disappointing his soulmates. Everyone was born with a least three.
You wouldn't know until meeting you soulmates if your marks meant they were your Platonic or Romantic ones.
Tony had three soulmarks. He knew all three could be platonic or romantic, or he could have two romantic soulmates or two platonic soulmates. He'd always thought it was such a stupid concept. Because the stories all said no matter what kind of soulmate you had they would love you forever.
But they also said your parents were suppose to love you forever too and he'd seen first hand how that had turned out.
But then further down the line he'd gotten lucky and met his first platonic soulmate Rhodey. Whose DNA mark had turned red the instant they had shaken each others hands.
That had been when Tony had turned fourteen and was accepted as the youngest MIT student. It had been one of the best days of Tony's life and honestly it turned out that having a soulmate didn't suck so much after all.
His Honey-bear loved him with all his heart and he loved his honey-bear right back in return.
Then Rhodey (who had four soul marks) had met his romantic soulmate on a mission and Tony was a ball of horrible awful nerves. Because what if Rhodey didn't love him anymore. Or he still loved him, but didn't want to be as close, because his Romantic Soulmate didn't like him.
For four months until, the Romantic pair could be put on leave, Tony fretted over Rhodey running off into the sunset and leaving him behind.
Which turned out to be four very wasted months, because the instant Sergeant Barnes had spotted the man Rhodey hadn't been able to stop talking about, he'd wrapped Tony up in the biggest bear hug of all time.
Which was how Tony had gained his Bucky-Bear and the platonic soulmate that lit up the star on his arm (for their shared love of stars) a dark red and Tony let out a relieved breath.
He was so pleased.
Bucky was like Tony who had three marks. His two platonic marks (a wing and a star) and his and Rhodey's gold gear, for their love of mechanics.
The wing apparently belonged to a Captain Steve Rogers which turned out to be another of Rhodeys platonic soulmates sharing a feather for their love of flying.
Steve and Tony always seemed to butt heads when they met up and luckily didn't share any marks which seemed to please them both just fine.
But it did make interesting when Tony ended up being the one to set Steve up with his golden anchor Peggy. Tony never let him live it down.
Tony smiled sadly as he snuggled further into Bucky's chest trying to not so subtly hide his tears.
He's finally touched Pepper for the first time since they started dating a month ago. They had both wanted to take it slow and get to know each other. They both had black heart marks on their arms and they were both really excited to touch for the first time so they took it slow.
Then horror of horrors, when they'd held hands for the first time nothing happened. No tingle, no glow and Tony was bummed, but he'd been willing to work it out between them.
He wanted to try at least, because they had so much in common, but Pepper had looked distraught. She'd told Tony she was sorry and that she would love to be friends, but that she couldn't date someone who wasn't her Romantic soulmate.
So here Tony was relaxing into the most comforting pity party and intruding on his soulmates date night (who had yelled at him when he suggested such a thing in the first place) wondering if he'd ever find someone to love him.
Bucky flicked him on the forehead and then gently placed a kiss where he'd been flicked. "Stop thinking so hard you idiot, anybody be lucky to have you."
"Stop reading my mind Metallica it's creepy."
"That's why I do it." Bucky said sticking his tongue out at him.
"Platypus, control your boyfriend he's being mean to me."
Rhodey just snorted at him, "He's your soulmate."
"Nu uh, he was yours first."
"Yeah, but your the one who imprinted on him like a duckling, so he's your responsibility."
"Oh thanks, the both of you, I feel so loved. You know what I am gonna go stay with Stevie at least he appreciates me."
Bucky tried to get up, but was tackled to the couch by his two pouting soulmates giving him the puppy eyes.
Rhodey gave him a heated kiss and Tony latched onto his ribs like an octopus.
"Love you." he whispered to them both. "Love you too, Bucky-Bear." "Love you sweetheart."
At least Tony had this, he reminded himself.
------
It had been a long harrowing day in the workshop cooking up new ideas for R & D.
He'd set Pepper up with her soulmate Natasha on accident and the heart on their inner wrists had glowed a bright gold.
The final nail in the coffin for Tony's sore heart. But he should have figured. His heart was in the corner of his eye.
He shook his head to rid himself of the melancholy thoughts as he entered the coffee shop he intended to get his pick me up in. Â He approached the counter and tapped his fingers lightly across the wood surface, trying to get Darcy's frazzled attention.
Someone bumped into his shoulder and he turned to see the most beautiful pair of Brown eyes he'd ever seen.
The same eyes looked back startled and then he took in the mans face and realized embarrassingly belated the Man was speaking to him.
"Sorry man didn't mean to hit you."
"No it's fine. Perfectly fine." Tony said in a daze. The stunning man smiled gave a nod of his head and then rushed on his way out the exit.
Tony cursed himself for being so completely inept and wondered why he hadn't bothered to at least ask for his number. The man was beautiful.
But then Tony remembered what his last dating experience had been like and he shook his head.
He ordered his coffee and left in a confused huff. But he promised himself he would drop it, he had Rhodey and Bucky and annoyingly he had Steve. What else could he need?
--------
So why was he at the same coffee shop in the corner working on his tablet you ask?
Certainly not because mister handsome might make an appearance absolutely not. Don't be ridiculous.
Tony sighed into his cup feeling silly as he doodled over his math for the first time since he'd come up with this idiotic notion.
He was just about to collect his things and leave, when wonder of wonders the beautiful man from the other morning sat across from him placing a new hot fresh cup of coffee in front him with a slight smile on his lips.
"Hi, I am Sam. Just thought you could use an extra coffee. To make up for the one I spilled all over you yesterday."
Huh. That's why Tony had a coffee stain on his shirt, he hadn't noticed.
"Tony and thank you, but it was no big deal, coffee happens."
Sam just smiled at him "Indeed it does." Â Then it looked like he was about to get up and leave him here to his own devices and Tony felt bereft for reasons he couldn't quiet admit to himself and grabbed Sam's wrist to prevent him from leaving.
He heard Sam laugh and say "Oh thank goodness I'd thought I was reading the situation wrong." But his worlds trailed off and his eyes widen as he turned to look into Tony's face.
Tony was in a similar state of shock, because there was a little gold heart sparkling at the corner of Sam's eye and he knew if he'd had a mirror his own mark would be sparkling.
"Hi." Tony breathed not releasing the smooth wrist in his hand.
"Wow, hi. Ummm... would you like to grab a bite to eat somewhere not here so I can kiss you properly? If that's not too forward?"
And no, no it was not, it almost seemed too slow to Tony's gooey brain.
"Yeah, yes, good, my best friends place is just down the street. We could go there, it's faster?"
"Excellent." Sam said taking his hand to hold Tony's own and lead him gently out of the cafe and down the sidewalk guiding him in the direction Tony kept pointing to.
"God you're hot, you know that?"
Sam let out a deep chuckle and Tony's heart sped up where it was already dancing in his chest.
"Thank you, Angel you aren't so bad yourself."
Tony nearly expired from the awesomeness that was his romantic soulmate calling him Angel so smoothly made him feel.
He slipped into Rhodey and Bucky's apartment quickly and then he was be pressed eagerly into the door. Sam peppering his face with kisses and Tony was in heaven.
His hand came up to cup Sam's back and explore the firm muscles he felt there and felt his knees weaken as Sam took his lips in heated kiss.
Tony felt silly for ever thinking he could live without something this wondrous.
Hey, are you guys(/gals/nb pals) okay? Sorry to bother you but I'm a tiny bit worried.
Hello, dear Greyface!Â
You are not a bother at all, thank you so much for your concern!
Weâre fine, thanks for asking - but some things came up that are preventing us from filling Prompts. Thereâs been exams and work and personal stuff going on for all of us and itâs been incredibly busy.
Weâre sorry for the delay and we hope to pick up on posting soon!Â
In the meantime, this might be a good chance to pronounce a semi-hiatus for a while - at least until we find the time to write again.
At this point also, thank you all so much for your creative prompts, they are great!
We will continue spreading the love for IronFalcon!
What if Tony had a pet? A fancy, fluffy black cat that seems to hate Sams guts, and Sam is not jealous of the little thing, especially not when the cat seems to always be plastered against Tony, curled up on his chest when Sam comes into the bedroom and finds Tony asleep, Sam is not jealous when he sees Tony petting, hugging and even cooing at the little fluffy devil. And the worst thing of all is that the cat seems to go out of his way to cockblock him.
(Watch out for the cut)
Sam likescats just fine. Really he does. If he was asked he would say he is a cat personrather than a dog person and he didnât need Clintâs and Buckyâs jokes about howthat didnât fit. But the point is. Sam likes cats. He loves them, they love himand it all works out. Usually.
But notwith Tonyâs cat.
Tonyâs catis, of course, special. It wouldnât be Tonyâs if it wasnât but even Sam has toadmit that this is a bit much.
The catadores Tony, clearly, always around him, cuddling up, being pampered by Tonyand loving every second going by the constant purr thatâs going on. Itâs notthat Sam has a problem with that, he really doesnât, but. He does have aproblem with it.
Because asmuch as the cat seems to love Tony, itâs pretty clear that it hates Sam.
And Sam hasthe scratches to proof it too.
Itâs noteven that he purposefully disturbs the cat or something. Itâs just thatwhenever he comes close to Tony, in any capacity, the cat is suddenly there, coming out of nowhere, and it makes very clear that it doesnât like Sam beingthis close to Tony.
Even ifthere are at least three feet between them.
âThe stupidcat hates me,â Sam mutters as he flops down on the couch and Bucky, onlynarrowly avoiding Buckyâs metal arm in the process.
âIt reallydoes,â Bucky agrees and pats Samâs head.
âYouâresupposed to tell me Iâm seeing things, that itâs my imagination. This is nothelping,â Sam groans.
âAnd lyingto you is somehow going to help? Sorry, Sam, but the cat does hate you.Everyone knows it. Except maybe Tony. Even Thor noticed and he is not here halfthe time.â
âWhat did Iever do to the cat?â Sam asks and buries his face further in Buckyâs chest.
âI wouldguess you are trying to woo Tony and the cat doesnât like it.â
âBut how?âSam whined. âHow the fuck does the stupid cat even know what I am trying to do.Itâs just a cat.â Sam paused for a second. âAnd I donât even know if it has aname. Tony has so many nicknames for the cat itâs impossible to make out if oneof it could be really the name.â
âWhy donâtyou ask him?â
âI did, andhe just laughed in my face,â Sam grumbled and then pushed himself up. âI am notgonna be defeated by a stupid cat. I will ask Tony out today and if I have todo it with the beast hanging from my face then I will,â Sam declared and Buckyactually looked proud.
âYou go getyour man, bird boy. Iâll cheer you on.â
âFrom thesafety of this couch, right?â Sam asked with an eye roll and Bucky laughed.
âYou knowme entirely too well.â
âI wonâttell you how it went then.â
âAs if youhad to. If he says yes, youâre gonna walk around like youâre high, donâtpretend. Now shoo and get him.â
Sam flippedBucky the bird before he left but Bucky didnât even respond to that. Samimmediately went to find Tony, who was on the couch, cuddling the littlemonster but who also seemed really pleased to see Sam.
The cat onthe other hand, was not pleased at all, going by the growling and hissing.
âWhatâs upwith you, buttercup?â Tony asked and stroke his fingers through the probablyreally soft fur. Not that Sam would know.
âThe catdoesnât like me,â Sam told Tony, who looked surprised at that.
âBut helikes you just fine,â Tony said with a little frown. âI saw you two spendingtime together and getting along.â
Samactually had the urge to check Tony for a fever. âWhat the hell are you talkingabout? The little beast does nothing but attack me.â He didnât mention the partwhere he also effectively cockblocked Sam.
âButTâChalla and you are friends?â Tony uncertainly asked and now Sam really neededto know if he was sick.
âDo youhave a fever? What does TâChalla have to do with anything?â
Instead ofan answer from Tony the cat gracefully got up and jumped down to the ground.Even before it touched down something blurry went on and suddenly TâChalla wasstanding in front of Sam.
âAnd youlaughed when I asked you if you liked to dress as a cat,â Sam weakly managedand Tony burst out laughing.
âI thoughtyou knew,â Tony wheezed through another fit of laughter.
âHow wouldI have known, if no one ever brought that up?â Sam asked incredulous and thenglared at TâChalla.
âAnd whatthe fuck is your problem. You said you liked me! How does that translate tonearly clawing my eyes out when I attempt to ask Tony out?â
âYou weretrying to ask me out?â Tony asked, suddenly serious again and eyes huge in hisbeautiful face.
âYou andBarnes seem awfully close,â TâChalla said. âI was just trying to make sure youare serious about this.â
âAnd youdonât think coming up to me and asking âHey, Sam, I noticed you have a thingfor Tony. Arenât you with Bucky? How does this work? Are you serious aboutTony?â would have done the trick?â
âThis wasmore fun,â TâChalla admitted with a cheeky grin and then bent down to kiss Tonyon the head. âI approve,â he whispered loud enough that Sam could hear him.
âWhat thefuck,â Sam said because he felt like he hadnât properly translated hisdisbelieve at this whole situation.
âHe knowsme for almost as long as Rhodey does,â Tony admitted after TâChalla left. âHeis a little overprotective sometimes.â Tony turned a thoughtful glance at Sam.âAnd you and Bucky do seem awfully close,â he lowly admitted and Sam sighedwhile he sat down next to Tony.
âAs do youand Rhodey, to be honest. I caught you sleeping in the same bed,â Sam remindedhim.
âWeârefriends! Heâs like my brother. Thereâs nothing going on!â Tony quickly declaredand Sam shrugged.
âSame withme and Bucky.â
âSo, whatare you saying?â Tony asked him, but he was already leaning into Sam.
âIâm sayingthat I like you and I wanted to ask you out on a date for almost four monthsnow.â
Tonysnorted. âThatâs how long TâChalla has been an ass to you?â
âYeah,â Samadmitted.
âHedefinitely needs to make up for that lost time,â Tony decided. âAnd since weboth waited entirely too long for this date to finally happen, how about we goright now, before something else comes up?â
âSoundslike the perfect plan. But I tell you right now, no more cats when we aretogether. I donât want TâChalla to be snuggled up to you real close while Ihave to take whatâs left.â
âHoney, Ipromise, from now on TâChalla can go look for someone else to cuddle. Iâm allyours now,â Tony promised.
âThatsounds like something I could get used to,â Sam said and then leaned in to kissthe happy smile right off Tonyâs face.
Can I have some loving, mushy IronFalcon morning sex, please?
OK, this is beyond late but I hit a bit of a block on this one for a bit for some reason. But, here it is! And I really hope you like it. I just adore getting asks from you! And fluffy sex. <3 Hopefully this is what you were looking for.
A note for timeline purposes, there is an established relationship here, but itâs a new thing.
Imagine IronFalcon in the 'my Nana thought you're my boyfriend so now I have to bring you to thanksgiving dinner or I'm pretty sure she's going to hate me forever' situation where they're good friends who have to pretend to be boyfriends, and then becoming boyfriends for real.
(Watch out for the cut)
âSo you donâthave actual plans for Thanksgiving, right?â
Tony glanced upas Sam sat down next to him, fingers already tapping nervously over thetextbooks for their shared lit class.
âActual plans?âhe echoed, and Sam nodded. âYou mean like, actual plans besides the âannoy theshit out of Howard until Mom asks me to stopâ plans I already mentioned?â
Sam noddedagain.
âNo,â Tony saidslowly. âNo actual plans.â
âGood, good. Souh, I have a situation.â
Tonyâs eyesnarrowed, suspicious and wary. âIâve got a bad feeling about thisâŠ.â
âStop quotingStar Wars at me,â Sam said, then blurted, âNana thinks youâre my boyfriend anddemanded I bring you to Thanksgiving dinner so she can finally meet you.â
âShe⊠what?Howâd she get that idea?â Tony yelped, eyes going wide and panicked.
âI donât know!âSam said back desperately. âShe just did, okay, and sheâs so happy aboutmeeting you and I am pretty sure if I show up without you that sheâs going tohate me forever! Tony!â Sam whined. âI canât have my nana hating me forever, she makes the best pies and sheâll not make my favorite for me if sheâsdespairing that weâre not actually dating!â
Tony made arough noise, like a scoff. âSheâll hate us both if you lie to her!â
âOnly a littlebit!â
âThis is a bad idea,â Tony insisted.
âItâs just forThanksgiving! Youâll get free food out of it! Iâll buy you all the coffee youwant for the rest of the semester!â
Tony paused, giving him an incredulous look. âFinals are coming up. Thatâs a horriblepromise to make, Sam.â
âI am that desperate,â Sam said seriously.âPlease?â
After a moment,Tony sighed, caving. âAlright, alright,â he muttered. âIâll pretend to be yourdamn boyfriend, even though I think this is a horrible idea.â
âThank you,âSam gushed, hugging Tony for a moment before sitting back and opening histextbook. âOkay. Now that that crisis is over, on to this one.â
Tony grumbled, but opened his book as well.
~*~*~
âMom,â Tonytried, and sighed when she interrupted him again. He turned, leaning againstthe doorframe, putting his back to Rhodey who was watching him closely thoughpretending not to. Quieter, Tony repeated, âMom, please. Itâs justThanksgiving. Iâll come home for Christmas.â That seemed to, finally, appeaseher, though she made him repeat his promise before she let him go.
Tony hung upand went to plop into his desk chair, spinning it in circles. Thanksgiving wasin two days. He should probably back.
âSo youârereally going to do this?â Rhodey asked, scribbling notes for one of his physicstextbooks.
âI told Sam Iwould,â Tony reminded him.
Rhodey lookedat him, brows furrowed. âYeah, but wonât it be awkward?â
âNah, notreally.â Tony spun around again. âI mean, a little bit. Samâs like, my secondbest friend.â Tony shot Rhodey a grin. âBut itâs just for a few days.â
âYou describedthis whole thing to me as âthe worst idea youâd ever agreed toâ.â
Tony waved hishand dismissively.
Rhodey shookhis head after a moment, muttering to himself about idiots and how he hoped Godreally did protect fools â or something to that effect. Tony stopped reallypaying attention, instead debating if, as the âboyfriendâ, he should bring somekind of gift. He was pretty sure that was the kind of good manners his momwould want him to have.
âWhat kind ofgifts do you bring to your pretend boyfriendâs family for Thanksgiving?â Tonyasked aloud.
Rhodey groanedand thunked his head down onto his textbook.
~*~*~
âWe shouldprobably hold hands,â Sam muttered as they walked up the porch steps.
âGood idea,âTony said, and linked their fingers just in time for the door to be yankedopen.
âMom, Samâs finally here!â yelled the kidon the other side of the door. He looked back at them, eyes locking on theirhands, and made a face. âOh god, are you going to be as gross as Sarah now?â
âShut up, Gid,âSam said, pushing open the screen door to get inside.
Tony bit back asnicker when the kid â Samâs brother, Gideon â grumbled, âThat means yes. Ugh.â
Tony met Samâs parents,Darlene and Paul, and his sister Sarah. It was a whirlwhind of hugs andhandshakes and loud voices all talking over each other catching up and greetingand Tony grinned the whole time.
He didnât meetthe infamous Nana until they stepped into the kitchen, after theyâd storedtheir stuff in Samâs old room. Tony had been aiming for coffee; he wasintercepted and appraised by keen eyes in a lined face.
He froze. âUmâŠhi?â
âYouâre Sammyâsboyfriend heâs been hiding from us?â
ââŠYes?â
Her eyesnarrowed. âHe tried to tell me he didnât have a boyfriend. But I told him, thereâs no way something put that kind of light and happiness on your facewhile talking about studying of allthings unless itâs a boy.â
Tony scratchedat his hair, down to his neck, and grinned sheepishly. âMy best friend Rhodeycalled us fools, if that helps?â
She cracked asmile, the crinkles at her eyes thickening, and reached up to pat Tonyâs cheek.âDoes explain some things, yes.â She shook her head, turning to stir somethingon the stove â it smelled delicious, Tony wondered if Nana would be as sharp atprotecting food from tasting fingers as Jarvis was. âSammy never could tellwhen someone was flirting with him.â
Tony snorted. âHerecognizes flirting just fine,â Tony said, as he noticed Sam walking into theroom. He grinned slyly. âJust so long as itâs completely cheesy.â
Sam rolled hiseyes, not missing a beat as he added, âThankfully for me thatâs the only kindof flirting Tony knows how to do.â
âExcuse you, Ican flirt just fine, you just never notice it when Iâm being smooth!â
âUh huh,â Samsaid, in a voice that completely conveyed âIâm just saying this to pacify youâ.âSure you can.â
Tony cast aquick look to be sure Nana wasnât looking before flipping the bird.
Sam stuck histongue out.
~*~*~
Sharing the bedwasnât a problem. Sam warned Tony that he snored, and Tony told him veryseriously that he would probably cling to Sam in his sleep worse than anoctopus, and they climbed under the sheets.
In the morningthey woke up with Tony using Sam as a pillow, arms and legs tangled together, and Sam snoring in Tonyâs ear. They stretched and climbed out of bed and gotready, moving around each other easily.
Sam made Tonysome coffee, while Tony plopped across the entire couch in front of thefireplace. Gideon came in a few minutes later and whined for Tony to move hisfeet, but Tony just stared at him with a smile and raised brow until Sam camein with two cups.
Tony lifted hislegs for Sam to sit, and then put them in Samâs lap. Sam passed over Tonyâscoffee, just how he liked it.
Gideon groanedin despair and went to sit in one of the armchairs.
The daycontinued smoothly. No one seemed to pick up that they were only pretending tobe boyfriends.
To be fair, Samand Tony didnât have to change their behaviors too much. No one seemed toexpect them to kiss or anything. They held hands a bit more, but the sittingclose and hugging and snuggling wasnât that unusual. Tony was physically affectionatewith his friends, and Sam liked to reciprocate.
They banteredlike usual. Talked with Samâs family. Sent Rhodey and Steve some snapchats ofthem, because their plan was gong perfectly despite best friend disapproval, and they both wanted to rub that in their faces.
They atedinner, played some games with Samâs family, and went to bed again.
Tony stretchedthe next morning when he woke up before Sam, and rested his chin on his hands, over the top of Samâs chest.
Sam keptsnoring.
Smiling, Tonywatched Sam for a few moments, before rolling out of bed and going to makehimself some coffee. Nana and Paul were already awake, sitting at the smallkitchen table in the corner, next to a sunny window. Tony joined them; none ofthem spoke, just sat and enjoyed the quiet and sunlight and coffee together.
When Sam cameout, pajama pants with little Superman symbols all over them low on his hips, covering his feet because they were too long, Tony smiled. He held out hiscoffee, and Sam sipped at it, before nudging Tony over so they were sharing thesame chair. It was far from comfortable.
Tony stole hiscoffee back before Sam could drink all of it, the thief.
~*~*~
âYou know, thatwent⊠shockingly well,â Tony said onthe ride back.
âYouâre thatsurprised?â Sam asked, glancing over his shoulder as he merged.
Tony shrugged, flipping through his music to find something good. âA bit? I mean I didnâtexpect it to go epically wrong like some after school special or anything,â hesaid. âBut I didnât expect it to go that smoothly either. Like, seriously Sam.That was easy. It shouldnât have been that easy to pretend to be dating.â
Sam was quietfor a little while, then said, âYeah, probably not.â
âNo one even suspected, did they?â Tony continuedwonderingly. âWe were apparently like, super fucking awesome boyfriends.â
âHell yeah wewere,â Sam said with a proud grin.
Tony laughed. He tilted his head back against the headrest, then turned it until he wasstaring right at Sam, thinking.
âYou know, Iwouldnât mind dating you for real.â
âOh yeah?â
Tony nodded. âSure.Youâre smart. Funny. Caring. Damn fine. You laugh at my corny jokes.â
Sam snorted.
âYou actuallylike me for me,â Tony continued, quieter. âYou listen when Iâm upset, and tryto make me feel better.â
âThatâs whatfriends are supposed to do.â
âYeah,â Tonysaid softly. âI donât have many of those. Would hate to lose one. But if thepayoff was a super awesome boyfriendâŠ.â
Sam glanced athim, quick, before focusing back on the road.
âYou want togive it a shot? For reals?â
âIf you wantto,â Tony said. âIâm happy being friends. I think I could be happy beingboyfriends, too. So whatever would make you happyâŠ.â
He waited whileSam thought it over. He glanced at Tony some more, a few times.
âI wouldnâtmind dating you either,â he said. âAll that stuff you said about me, I think itâstrue for you too. Smart, obviously. And funny, with those corny jokes,â heteased. âCaring, despite how other people take advantage of it or misinterpretit. Always trying to help people.â
Smilingslightly, Tony slid his fingers slowly over the console. Sam dropped one handfrom the wheel and linked fingers with Tony at the edge of his seat.
âRhodey andSteve are going to be so exasperated,â Tony chuckled quietly.
âJust an addedbonus,â Sam said, grinning cheerfully.
~*~*~
Tony leanedover and whispered to Sam, âI bet only dogs can hear the noises theyâre making,âwhen they told their best friends they were now boyfriends during lunch the dayafter returning to campus.
Hello!! First, I love that this is a blog now!!! I love ironfalcon and I love that I have a place to go now to satisfy my craving lol :) if I may, I would like to prompt blind date. Either Sam or tony pov is fine, I just have this image in my head of them being nervous and slightly worried about meeting the other for the first time, but the date goes great!! Please and thank you!!! :D
So, Sam hasnât been on a date for a while. And he has been finebeing single, thank you verymuch.
But Steve and Bucky are obnoxiousassholes and Natasha-
Well.
One simply doesnât argue withNatasha.
So Samâs here, dressed in his nicestclothes (They are new. Heâd been dragged out for shopping.) andchecking his appearance critically. Does he look okay? Heâs tried âand failed -  to tell himself this is just a casual thing, nothing tobe worried about butâŠ
If nothing else, he wants to make agood first expression.
Sam turns in front of the mirror, dark eyes scanning the way his dress shirt clings to his body, accentuating his muscular frame as well as the jeans that are a tadtighter, more snug than he normally wears.
He tries not to notice that hispalms are getting sweaty. Tries to ignore the nervousness rising.
There is no reason tobe nervous; Sam doesnât even KNOW the guy yet.
Sam sighs. Blind dates suck.
~~~
Heâs at the restaurant and ready toadmit that he might die ofnervousness. Even more so because itâs ten minutes after the agreedtime and his date hasnât showed up yet.
Sam chews on his bottom lip. Did heget stood up?
Just as heâs about to send Natasha atext and leave, thereâs suddenly loud noises coming from the entranceand Sam looks up. He spots a handsome man with a neatly-trimmedgoatee, red-tinted sunglasses gesturing extensively while heâs beingpushed forward by a dark-skinned man.
âStop it, Rhodey!â,the guy hisses. âIâm going!Iâm going, watch me go. Iâm not running!â
âLike Hell Iâm stopping. Iâve hadto drag your sorry ass all the way here. Now go and enjoy your date!â
Sam doesnât mean to eavesdrop butthey are talkingrather loudly. His breath hitches slightly at the word âdateâ.But he doesnât stand up or anything, just quietly watches the twofuss around for another minute, before âRhodeyâ gives the man onelast push and a glare and leaves.
The man mutters something, pushesone hand through his hair. Then he lifts his head to look around theroom and-
Samâs breath hitches again whentheir eyes meet. Heâs never been so thankful for his dark skin; itdoesnât show the blush. (But he can sure feel the heat of hischeeks.)
The man comes over to him, slowly,and Sam tracks his every move. His heartbeat picks up but the otherguy is smiling, a soft thing of a smile that looks like he doesnâtuse it often enough and Sam returns it easily.
âHeyâ, the man says, sounding abit sheepish. âSam, I assume?â
âWould be rightâ, Sam answers.His nervousness slowly fades already. âTony?â
Thereâs a nod. Tony holds out hishand and Sam takes it without hesitation. âIâm your date for theevening. Sorry you had to witness my little, uh⊠freakout.â
Sam laughs at that as they taketheir seats. He canât believe how natural this already feels.
âDonât worry about it. Youexpressed perfectly how I was feeling up until now, too!â
Tony looks up at him at that, eyescrinkling with the smile heâs sporting.
âWas?â,he repeats.
âWasâ, Sam agrees, getting lostin the beautiful brown of Tonyâs eyes for a moment. âNot anymore.âHe doesnât add that he hopes this wonât be their only date. Instead,he says: âIâm actually happy Natasha set this up for me.â
Somehow Tony perks up at the nameand the spark of curiosity that lights up his whole face leaves Sambreathless for a moment.
âNatasha? Natasha Romanov?â AtSamâs nod, Tony lets out a laugh and settles back into his chairbefore he starts honest-to-God giggling.
âOh my God, this is awesome!â
And then he explains how he has awoman in his life that is called Pepper, and that Pepper knowsNatasha and together they decided for Sam and Tony to meet. Itâs onlythe start of a very nice evening; talking to Tony is easy, so easyand Sam enjoys it thoroughly.
~~~
They end the evening outside, standing close together in the chilly night air.
Samâs smiling; his cheeks alreadyhurt because somehow he hasnât stopped smiling even once during thewhole time. Tonyâs expression is a soft one, lips turned upwards.
âSoâ, he says, tilting his head.âThat was probably the best evening Iâve had in a long while. Thankyou for that, Sam.â
Sam grins, feeling giddy andexcited. âRight back at you, Tony. I really enjoyed this.â
He doesnât say âMaybe wecan repeat this?â and it seemshe doesnât have to, because Tony leans forward and then their lipsmeet for a soft, gentle kiss.
âLooking forward for the nextdateâ, Tony mumbles quietly
after the fic where sam and tony meet each other, I wonder how would it be if Tony was there for Sam when Riley died, and Sam was there for/with Tony during iron man movies and the avengers
An interesting thought that leads to a lot of angst. Iâd have to research military protocols and Iâd want to double check what little information MCU gives us about Samâs time serving (dates and such), but most likely when Riley dies thereâs a period there in which heâs unable to contact Tony, maybe even long enough that Sam doesnât bring up Rileyâs death the next time Tony talks to him, instead choosing to focus on Tony and the positives. Maybe itâs not until Tony says/writes something like âI havenât heard you talk about Riley in a while, how is he doing?â that Sam tells Tony.
If Sam tells Tony over the phone Tony would struggle right then and there with how to react. He doesnât want to say anything that might trigger Sam to break down, but he also doesnât want to come off callous or uncaring, because he does care, but he just doesnât know how to show it in this instance.
Once heâs processed the information though, Tony would do his damnedest to find a way to Sam. Itâd take weeks, because even if he has a lot of clout with the government, there are still procedures that need to be upheld.
Tony visits Sam, but not as long as he would like to, and itâs not as intimate as Tony would like, but they make do.
And somewhere along the line Tony mentions trying to finagle a way to get Sam home. And thatâs when Tony and Sam have a big fight, because as painful as it is to live around constant reminders of his best friend, heâs not going home. Heâs not the only one who has lost someone, and heâs not going to accept special treatment.
Tony doesnât like it one bit, but eventually yields.
For weeks the correspondences are strained, until one day over the phone Sam sighs and says, âSorry for snapping back then. I wasâamâa mess.â
Tony apologizes too, and their relationship is stronger for it.
And then IM1 happens, and assuming Sam is still serving then, imagine this: Sam hears from word of mouth that Tony is dead. Heâs utterly crushed and doesnât want to believe it, but as the months go by and there are no signs of Tony he has to come to accept Tonyâs death.
Then Tony comes back and imagine this: Sam canât leave where he has been stationed. His boyfriend who was kidnapped and tortured for months has just been rescued and Sam isnât allowed to see him until his tour is over and that isnât for months. It tears him up inside, and he begs with everyone in charge to at least let him make a phone call.
When Tony answers the call Sam is so relieved to hear Tonyâs voice that it hits him hard and he almost doubles over.
Rhodey was due to come back every minute now and Tony couldnât be happier about that.
He was back at the team dinners, just like he had promised Sam, but he couldnât enjoy it anymore. Tony was aware that Sam was not actually behaving differently towards him, but he still thought every glance Sam threw him was judging.
Sam never brought the food issue up again, and Tony didnât try to encourage him by actually eating something but he knew that Sam was still worrying about him.
In the meantime, Tony was healthier than ever, because Samâs love for the Supersoldier(s) seemed to have exploded and now Tony was drenched in love whenever he even came close to Sam.
It hurt, having proof of Samâs love for someone not him thrown into his face like that, but on the other hand Tony couldnât help but love him more for it.
Samâs love was so pure and it was so strong and steady, it just made him more beautiful all around and Tony cursed himself every day he came up for dinner or whenever Sam came down to his workshop.
The food issue had shortly stopped Sam from seeking him out in the workshop, but now everything was back to normal and Sam spent as much time around Tony as he did before.
Tony enjoyed their time together, he really did, especially since he got fed like this all the time, but it also hurt a lot to always see the love surrounding Sam and knowing it wasnât for him.
But now that Rhodey was going to be back for at least a few weeks, Tony could whisk him away for dinner and business whenever team dinner came around, so he wouldnât have to spent so much time around Sam.
Tony was prowling up and down in his workshop when Jarvis announced âColonel Rhodes has landed on the pad.â
Tony was out of the workshop in a second and Jarvis was moving the elevator as fast as he could but it still felt too slowly for Tony.
When he finally arrived, Rhodey was already out of his suit and walking towards the elevator.
Before Tony could even fully take in if Rhodey looked healthy or not, he was soaked up in so much love that it nearly knocked the wind out of him.
Tony was still sometimes surprised by the amount of love Rhodey had for him, but it was always a welcome surprise nowadays and Tony laughed as he wrapped Rhodey up in a hug.
âOh, how I missed you, platypus,â he said and Rhodey chuckled but he squeezed him just as tight.
âMissed you too, Tones. Even though I still think you only miss me for my love,â he said teasingly, knowing full well that Tony never needed to worry about a thing when Rhodey was around.
âOh, honey, I am sorry to inform you that I donât need you anymore for food purposes,â Tony said with a wink when he pulled back and Rhodeyâs eyebrow shot up in surprise.
âFound someone else to love you, huh?â he asked while they stepped into the elevator.
âNot precisely. Found someone else who loves is more like it.â
âYouâre leeching again, arenât you?â
âMaybe,â Tony said and got a poke to his side for that. âOkay, yes I am. But itâs not like I am actively searching him out. Sam always comes to my workshop and he insists I attend team dinner, even though I never eat anything and he knows that, and itâs just really convenient?â
âIâm glad youâre getting enough food,â Rhodey said in answer to that and pulled Tony in for a kiss to his temple.
âBut,â Tony said and slightly pulled away from Rhodey, âyou canât leave again, donât leave me here on my own again, I cannot feed from Sam anymore.â Tony practically whined at the end and Rhodey furrowed his brows at him.
âAnd why is that?â he asked.
âI feel dirty,â Tony admitted. âI lied to him when he figured out that somethingâs going on with my eating habits and then still leech off him even though his love is not for me, and I just feel dirty. Donât leave again, please.â
âYou never felt guilty about using love not meant for you,â Rhodey mused and scrutinized Tony.
Tony squirmed under his gaze and then realized that they should have long reached Rhodeyâs floor.
âJarvis, why is this elevator not opening?â he asked in an attempt to get out of answering Rhodeyâs implied question.
âI felt that it was crucial for Colonel Rhodes to talk to you,â Jarvis smoothly replied and Tony cursed his own invention.
âFine, we talked, we can leave now.â
âNo, we didnât. Why do you feel guilty about using Samâs love to keep you healthy?â Rhodey asked and now that there was finally a question for Tony, he knew Jarvis wouldnât let them leave.
âCome on,â Tony tried to deflect nonetheless. âLetâs get out of here, you must be starving.â
âTony,â Rhodey said, very obviously unimpressed by Tonyâs attempt at a diversion.
âFine,â Tony sighed. âI may have done the dumb thing and fallen in love with Sam.â
Rhodey didnât even seem surprised. âAnd why does feeding off him make you guilty?â
âBecause his love is not for me, and therefore I shouldnât use something he doesnât want to give me freely and it just feels wrong. Like Iâm betraying him somehow.â
âYouâre not betraying him, Tony,â Rhodey said and pulled Tony into his side. âAnd if it bothers you so much tell him, and then you can ask if itâs still alright for you to feed off his love. If he tells you no, then you stop. If he says itâs okay, no problem. If he tells you he loves you back, even better.â
Tony groaned. âNot happening, Rhodey. He loves one or even both of the soldier boys. There is no place for little old me.â
Tony turned to look at Rhodey and went on before he even could respond to that. âAnd what do you mean âtell himâ? As if I can just go up to Sam and say, âHey, by the way, I am not fully human and feed off love and your love for the soldiers has been keeping me alive for the past few months, so thanks for thatâ?â
Rhodey shrugged. âSure, why not. Maybe give him some time to process it but yeah. That sounds like a solid plan.â
âYou gotta be joking,â Tony said but Rhodey seemed dead serious.
âYou are insane!â Tony exclaimed and threw his hands in the air. âJarvis, get me out of here, maybe his stupid is contagious.â
To his immense surprise Jarvis opened the doors and Tony quickly stepped out into the living room of Rhodeyâs suite.
âTony, why wouldnât you tell him. He is your friend, he likes you, and to be honest, he seems like the most accepting person in your team. If you canât tell him, you will never be able to tell the others.â
âWho said I am going to tell the others,â Tony said and busied himself with getting some water for the both of them.
âWe talked about this. You said you would tell your team if you ever feel completely comfortable with them. Since that still isnât the case, I have not been pressuring you, but you are comfortable around Sam. You just said he comes to your workshop all the time. Name three other people who are allowed in whenever.â
Rhodey looked at him and Tony cursed. âYou know damn well I can only name two, honeybear. That is not playing fair.â
Rhodey shrugged as if he couldnât care less. âMaybe it means something then, that Sam is allowed in. Maybe it means you should trust him.â
âMaybe it means you can leave right now if you keep this up,â Tony grumbled and then immediately bit his lip.
He didnât want Rhodey to leave, he just came back after all, and he was about to apologize when Rhodey stepped close and ruffled his hair.
âNot leaving, and you know that. Now come on, I am actually really hungry, the pizza should arrive soon and I heard there is a new movie I havenât seen yet.â
âYou ordered pizza on your way here,â Tony said and leaned into the contact. âSneaky, I like,â he went on when Rhodey nodded and then dragged him onto the couch.
âAnd youâre right, there is this one movie with horrible science in it, I want you to suffer with me,â Tony told Rhodey while Jarvis was already starting the movie.
They ended up on the couch, snuggled together since they long abandoned personal space with each other. The pizza was good, the movie was horrible and Rhodey agreed with him there, and the evening was just perfect.
~*~*~
Tony managed to avoid team dinner for almost a week, always claiming to show Rhodey a new movie or dragging him off to yet another work binge in the shop but eventually Rhodey called him out on his bullshit.
The team was very understanding, even Sam, though he had looked a tad sadder than usual, and so Tony hadnât expected the protest to come from Rhodey himself.
âTony, come on. They are your friends, and I like them too, and team dinner sounds nice actually.â
âBut SamâŠâ Tony started and Rhodey rolled his eyes at him.
âI will be there, you can eat my love, you donât have to leech off him and you know it. Come on, just admit it, it would be nice to spend some time with him again, donât tell me otherwise. Now you can finally enjoy your time with him without feeling guilty about it.â
Tony groaned, because Rhodey actually had a point there, though he is not about to admit that.
âFine, fine. You win. One evening.â
âThree, and no complain about that,â Rhodey shot back and Tony wanted to protest, he really wanted to, but Rhodey actually seemed to look forward to eat with the team and Tony immediately felt bad about keeping him from them.
âDonât do this,â Rhodey said and pulled him close. âI can see that you worked yourself into some unnecessary guilt and I am not having it. So either spill or let it go.â
âYou know me too well, platypus,â Tony mumbled, but didnât explain anything.
âYou idiot,â Rhodey fondly said and then dragged him up for dinner.
It went fine, as good as ever, even though Tony didnât even pretend to eat today, too busy catching up with everyone and listening to their stories.
It brought him some concerned glances from Natasha, and even Steve seemed to have caught up on the fact that something was wrong, but Sam determinedly kept his glance away from Tonyâs plate as it seemed.
When Tony fell silent Rhodey nudged him in the side to get his attention and drag him back into the conversation and Tony was so lucky to have Rhodey, he sometimes didnât know what he would do without him.
The dinner went fine, so fine in fact that Tony forgot to worry about it on the next evening and of course that was when Clint decided to call him out on his lack of eating.
âTony, come on, you never eat enough, youâre not eating at all right now, donât you like Samâs food?â he asked and Tony went stiff all over when everyone looked at him.
âI donât⊠Iâm notâŠâ Tony stuttered out but he couldnât finish the sentence, too afraid that he would have to admit to everything right now but it was actually Natasha who saved him.
âMaybe he lives off love and air,â she joked when it became clear that Tony wouldnât say anything.
Tony flinched at that, it was too close to the truth, but Rhodey put a steading hand on his thigh.
âThat would beâŠkind of creepy actually. Like a violation, taking things no one wants to give him, like a kind of monsterâ Clint commented with worry in his voice and Tonyâs eyes shot up to look at Sam.
If he would see the same worry and disgust he could hear in Clintâs voice on Samâs face he wouldnât be able to stand it.
But Samâs face was carefully blank, eyes fixed on a point on the table and Tony couldnât stand that for another second either.
He shot up and practically fled from the kitchen, Rhodey closely in tow, but he didnât stop until they reached the workshop.
âWhat do I do now?â he frantically asked and paced in front of Rhodey, who just stood there and watched him. âWhat do I do, what do I do, they are gonna figure it out, they are gonna hunt me like Iâm one of the monsters we fight on a regular basis, did you see their look, what am I gonna do?â
âYouâre not gonna do anything, Tony,â Rhodey told him. âThey wonât hunt you down and you know it, they donât even know the truth and they will never figure it out if you donât tell them. I need you to calm down.â
Tony realized that he had started to hyperventilate and he tried to take deep breaths but it wasnât working so much and in the end Rhodey had to coach his breathing.
When Tony was calm again he noticed that they were on the couch now, Tony with his back to Rhodeyâs chest so that he could feel him breathing and Tony slumped against him.
âBack with me again?â Rhodey asked and Tony nodded.
âGood, because Sam is asking to come in,â Rhodey went on and Tony went cold all over again.
âWhat does he want?â he lowly asked and Rhodey shrugged beneath him.
âI donât know but Iâm guessing it has something to do with dinner.â
âDonât leave me,â Tony pleaded but Rhodey was already getting up.
âI donât think he wants me here for this.â
âBut I, I need you here for this,â Tony pleaded. âDonât leave me alone with him, Rhodey, please donât.â
âIt will be alright,â Rhodey said and bend down to kiss him on the head. âJarvis will call me the moment you need me, wonât you, buddy?â
âOf course, Colonel.â
âSee. I wonât even go far, Iâll stay on this floor. So Iâll be back in a second if you need me to.â
Tony felt unsteady even sitting down but Rhodey wasnât swayed and in the next second he left the shop while Sam came in.
Tony put his arms around his middle, trying to keep himself together somehow, even before Sam started to talk.
âSo,â Sam began and Tony was too afraid to even look at him.
Tony didnât say anything and eventually Sam sat down on a chair opposite of the couch. âI am guessing Natasha hit kind of a sore spot with what she said,â Sam mused and Tony shrugged.
âMaybe?â he carefully asked, still keeping his gaze low.
âAir, love or both?â Sam asked him and Tony felt himself starting to shake.
He had never told anyone besides Jarvis and Rhodey, and he didnât know how to do this, how to tell him the truth and not make Sam hate him.
âLove,â he eventually whispered, when Sam stayed silent to give him time to answer.
The reaction he got was exactly how he had expected this to go. Samâs face got hard and he stood up, taking a few steps away from Tony.
âWhy did you never say anything?â he asked, and he sounded hurt.
âI never wanted anyone to know,â Tony whispered.
âBut I could have stayed away. If only you had said something, I would have stayed away, Tony,â Sam said and he sounded hurt.
âYou are the only one who feeds me when Rhodey isnât here, why would I have told you to stay away?â Tony ask, painfully aware that he admitted to leeching off Sam right then and there.
âBecause clearly itâs not reciprocated. You never acknowledged it, and I wouldnât have bothered you with it, never, there has to be someone else you can feed off.â
âHowâŠwould I know if itâs not reciprocated?â Tony asked, unsure about what they were talking about now.
âBecause you never said anything! If you would feel the same you surely would have said something, so I am guessing you donât feel the same.â
Tonyâs head snapped up at that only to see Samâs eyes get wide.
âAm I your only source of food? Is that why you endured it? Because there is nothing else for you to eat here? Is that why you kept me and my unwanted feelings around?â
âIâŠ.youâre in love with the supersoldiers,â Tony eventually managed and Sam actually seemed surprised by that.
âWhy the hell would you think that?â
âBecause it makes sense?â Tony asked and Sam shook his head.
âHow can you live off love and be so oblivious?â Sam asked him.
âItâs not like I know who the love is for!â Tony almost yelled at Sam.
âBut you know Rhodey loves you,â Sam said with a frown.
âBecause I have known him for almost all my life. Because I know by now that his love for someone else feels, tastes, different than his love for me. But it took me a damn long time to figure that one out.â
âWhat does his love taste like?â Sam asked, voice quiet and Tony couldnât look at him any longer.
âItâs fierce and soothing all at once; it feels like reassurance and stability, endless and sweet.â
Sam nodded once. âWhat does my love taste like?â
It tastes like home, Tony didnât say.
âItâs warm and comforting, deep and steady,â Tony said instead.
âAnd itâs not for them,â Sam added to Tonyâs description.
âBut it started during team dinner. And they are always there, you spend most of your time with them, it just makes sense.â
Before Sam could say anything to that, Tony continued.
âThatâs the reason I stopped coming. I know it wasnât for me and I still took it like I had any right to it. I felt bad for that, I still do, and I am so sorry I took your love for them and twisted it into something for me, but, itâs just, you have so much, I figured it wouldnât hurt you. But I wonât be doing it again, I canât apologize enough.â
âThe only one it hurt was you,â Sam gave back. âAnd you didnât twist it into anything, it was yours to begin with.â
Tony drew back into himself even more. âYou donât have to give it to me. Itâs fine. I can live without it for a long time. Rhodey will be by more regularly now, itâs okay, you donât have to offer this to me.â
âTony,â Sam said and his voice was soft and much closer than Tony had expected.
âMy love has been for you from the beginning. Iâm not in love with Steve and Bucky. I love you.â
Tonyâs head snapped up at that, disbelieve clear on his face, going by the pained expression on Samâs face.
âI have been in love with you for a very long time,â Sam told him and Tony weakly shook his head.
âBut you didnât say anything.â
âI thought it was not reciprocated. Is it? Not reciprocated? Do you want me to leave?â
Tony quickly reached out to grab Samâs hand.
âYour love tastes like home,â Tony mumbled and Sam laughed and pulled him up.
âWhat does your love taste like?â Sam asked him and pulled him closer.
Burnt and broken, like it can destroy everything, Tony thought, thinking back to the previous times his love had ruined everything.
âI donât know,â he mumbled, honestly too, because he couldnât place the sunshine and sweetness that accompanied his own love now.
âWhy donât we find out together?â Sam asked him and Tony smiled cautiously.
âI would like that.â
âGood,â Sam whispered and drew him in for a soft kiss.
Telling someone about his abilities had never gone over so well.
for @bloody-bee-tea because she wanted fluff and as the one that dragged me into IronFalcon hell, I think sheâs allowed to demand I contribute content to our little ship.
â-
Blowing up the suits for Pepper was just a bandaid, and they both knew it. It lasted about two months, until Tonyâs nightmares were so vicious and Pepper felt so guilty that they were both complete wrecks.
Tony was the one that did the breaking up. He didnât want to hurt her anymore. He couldnât tell if her tears were from relief or pain, and maybe she didnât know either because she clutched him close, but was moved out by the next afternoon.
Tony looks ready to keel over but each time someone points it out tohim and tells him to sleep, Tonyâs forehead curls into a stubbornfrown.
Sam has watched Steve trying to convince Tony to finally sleep forthe better half of an hour now.
It stopped being funny.
âTony, all Iâm saying is that you need to get some rest. Youâvebeen up for- JARVIS?â
âFor 43 hours, Captain.â
Steve nods at the ceiling, then glances at Tony, one eyebrow raised.âSo, way too long. I think you need to sleep.â
Tony, being the picture of manic energy and too much coffee, crosseshis arms with a scoff. âAnd I think you need to stop telling mewhat to do, Cap.â
âTony-â
âSteve.â
Sam gets hit by a paper ball aimed with deadly precision and heshoots Bucky a glare. The man just shrugs, nodding with his head inthe direction of their leaders arguing and mouths âDo somethingabout this.â
Natashaâs brow is twitching too. Sam heaves a sigh. If he wants toprevent Tony being forcibly dragged into his room by one overlyworried super soldier and a pissed off assassin, he has to act now.
âTonyâ, Sam says, over Steveâs next argument.
He gets a huff in response. âNot now, Sam. Iâm trying to makeCapsicle understand-â
âSweetheart.â Sam says and Tony goes silent before heâs finishedhis sentence. âCome here?â
Thereâs a moment of hesitation, but eventually Tony does come overand Sam takes a long look at him. Yes, his boyfriend looks tired andready to fall asleep any moment but thereâs also a determinedexpression on his face that tells Sam he wonât just go to bed.
So instead, Sam pats the spot next to him on the couch. âSit down.âAnd amazingly, Tony does. He grumbles and complains but he snugglesup against Sam, pressing closer when Sam puts his arm around him.
Having at least quietened Tony like this, they go back to watchingthe movie but Sam doesnât pay attention. He focuses on Tonyâsbreathing. It gets slower quickly, evens out and he smiles tohimself. Tony melts into him and it only takes a few minutes for himto snore softly into Samâs neck.
Which is just about perfect. Sam lets him rest for a bit longerbefore he moves slowly, running his hand over Tonyâs back, then up tohis neck and massaging gently. He turns his head to press a soft kissto his boyfriendâs forehead and whispers Tonyâs name.
âHmmâŠ.â
Tony moves, just a little and makes a sleepy noise that fills Samwith affection.
âLetâs go to bed, sweetheartâ, Sam says quietly, murmuring thewords into Tonyâs hair. His lover just makes this soft noise again, pressing his face closer into the crook of Samâs neck. Tony iscompletely relaxed by now, all pliant and lax and Sam kisses hisforehead again.
âBed, Tonyâ, he repeats. This time, Tony actually follows, movingto stand only to immediately fall back into Samâs arms when he wrapsthem around him. Like this, having been asleep and being woken up,Tony is incredibly docile. Thereâs no fight left in him and so Samhas no troubles guiding his boyfriend out of the living room and intotheir floor.
Once there, he tucks Tony in, kissing him softly on the lips beforehe crawls into bed with him. Tony cuddles close, only satisfied whenhe rests his head on Samâs chest.
Sam, for his part, runs his fingers through Tonyâs hair and fallsasleep to the even, calm breaths of his lover.
So prompt ironfalcon - Tony designed the original wings okay and did the maintenance before Afghanistan and knew Sam /very/ well, and Steve goes to introduce them and they're like we know each other *flirting while steve watches in confusion*
HAHAHA OH GOD IâM PICTURING STEVEâS CONFUSED AND SLIGHTLY ANNOYED FACE IT IS GIVING ME LIFE.
MCU timelines are a thing of incomprehension. According to the MCU wiki, the Jericho missile was created in 2010, and the EXO-7 thing was âsometime before 2014âł which Iâm assuming means that Winter Soldier takes place in 2014. *eyes MCU timeline* Sure. Weâll just⊠go with that.
Whatever, letâs just consider timelines to be wibbly wobbly.
â-
Tony Stark had a reputation. He was charming, an asshole, egotistical (and had a reason for it, with his genius and successful company), and damn good with weapons.
Sam wasnât expecting anything more, and the first time he met Tony Stark, he didnât get it.
Charming smile, quick words and handshakes, eyes that never settled on anyone for long. Except Rhodes. The smile was a bit looser, the words a bit warmer, when directed at Rhodes. But then, theyâd supposedly known each other since their college days, and Rhodes was starting a liaison position with SI and the military.
Can I just say I already love what you guys are doing! Anyway how about the team doesn't know about Sam and Tony, so when Sam walks in the room he kisses Tony like all casual and the team is like "????....heck?"
Tony is already in the kitchen. He actually just woke up instead ofhaving been awake for an unhealthy amount of hours. His hair is messyand heâs nursing his first cup of coffee. Speaking to him wonât workjust yet.
Overall, Tony in this moment of sleepiness and peace and Samâs heartthreatens to explode with the overwhelming rush of love he has forthis man.
A sleep-soft Tony with unruly bedhair and a lingering blush on hischeeks is the cutest sight Sam has ever seen. The fact that he isso lucky to wake up to this sight only amazes him more.
He canât resist. Sam walks over, smiling affectionately and Tony looks up at him with gentle browneyes. When his lips curl into a small smile, Sam is already bendingforward to kiss it.
Tony hums when Sam kisses him, presses forward to bring one hand up, cupping Samâs cheek and-
âWhat the fuck.â
The unexpected comment has themjumping apart; Tony looking thoroughly shocked while Sam manages tocompose himself into mild surprise.
When they turn, they find the restof the team staring at them.
Clint, leaning back with his chairuntil itâs threatening to topple over, dramatically covers his facewith his hands. âMy eyes!â, he exclaims. âI have seen things-â
âI am actually surprised I havenâtrealized you two were a thingâ, Natasha says over Clintâs whining, right before she smacks him and his complaint ends in a high-pitchedscreech.
Sam and Tony are still frozen inplace. Tonyâs eyes are very big and dark; heâs more expressive whenheâs only woken up. He makes a movement next, as if to get up and Samreflexively puts his arm around his boyfriend to keep him in place.
âSam-â
Sam decides to fuck it all. Theyâvealready outed themselves and judging from the fond looks everyonegives them, the team approves. So he just leans down once more andkisses Tony silent.
Clint makes a gagging noise, butTony relaxes against Sam. Heâs smiling softly when they pull apart.
âSo thatâs one way to tell ourteamâ, he says dryly. Sam huffs a laugh.
âAt least now I can kiss youwhenever I feel like itâ, is all he replies, which causes Tonyâssmile to grow until itâs lighting up his whole face. Itâs anotherbeautiful reminder of the endless list of things that had Sam fallingfor this man.
And just to make good on his words,Sam kisses Tony again.
