Title: Love me like you do
About: The reader is wandering around Lothlorién by themselves when everyone else has retired for the night but Haldír followed the reader to make sure they don't go too far and he catches them humming a familiar song.
Based on imagine: No imagine.
The sky acted like a cool dark blanket full of glinting stars, covering you as you slowly walked through Lothloriéns smooth, white trees, silently humming a familiar tune to yourself. You couldn’t sleep, so you made sure everyone was asleep and not wandering about so you could take a midnight stroll in the stars. It’s not everyday you’re in Lothlorién. It was beautifully and breathtakingly lightly glowing with life. You admired elven work. It was simple, light and beautiful.
You wandered until you found a spot up in a tree which you believe the stars can be seen clearly from up there. You slowly climbed up, carefully trying not to rip your white nightgown. You perched yourself on one of the tree’s white, thick and sturdy branches. You leaned on the trunk of the tree and looked up at the glinting stars and hummed. The song you heard an elf playing during dinner was stuck in your head, but you forgot the words, and it made you frustrated. You just hum the tune, hoping to remember the words.
You sat there for a few minutes in silence when you heard a low voice sing something. You twisted your neck in shock to the source of the sound and found a flustered Haldir.
“Haldir? What are you-” You lost balance and fell backwards into a light shrub.
“(y/n)!” You heard Haldir yell out. He ran to you and offered his hand to help you up.
You took it and asked. “Thank you. But what on earth are you doing? Were you spying on me?” You asked, merely annoyed, since it was Haldir.
It was dark, but you could see Haldir blush. “To make things clear,” He reached out and pulled a leaf from your hair. “I wasn’t spying on you. I was just making sure you didn’t wander off too far.”
“Uh-huh.” You shook your head in disbelief. “You know I’d never wander far off, Haldir. You worry too much.”
“Well, you are a dreamer. And I worry just the right amount.” Haldir stood up tall.
You looked at him then asked. “What were you singing? You know, before I ungracefully fell off a branch?”
Haldir smirked. “I apologize for that.” Haldir shrugged. “During dinner... that song and those words... I could not stop repeating the song in my head.”
“So you know the words?” You asked eagerly.
“Sing them to me, please!” You pleaded. “I have been trying to recall those words the whole night!”
“Sing?” Haldir said in a mocking tone. “Right now?”
“No, tomorrow Haldir.” You rolled your eyes.
“Alright,” He turned to walk off. “Goodnight then, and remember not to wander off too far-”
“Haldir!” You laughed and grabbed his arm. “Please just do it now?”
Haldir looked at you with glinting, grey eyes. “Alright.” He sighed. He slowly began to sing the song. You were mesmerized. He sounded like an angel, with a soft and sweet yet strongly confident voice. You snapped out of your trance once he began to sing the chorus. You decided to join him:
“Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?”
Haldir looked at you with surprised eyes and a grin on his face. “Your voice is very lovely.”
“Haldir, I can try to not sound like a dying horse when I want to.” You snorted. “But you’re the one with the extraordinary voice!”
Haldir smiled and offered you his hand. “Would you care to dance?”
You smirked and looked at him. “Dancing out here in the woods, in the dark, with no music...” He nodded. “Alright, but I must warn you, I’m not the best dancer.” You took his hand and he held you close. Your faces only inches apart.
“That won’t be a problem.” Haldir said. He began singing again, and so did you. Your dance started out slow and awkward, but it soon picked up pace and comfort. Haldir spun you around as you laughed. Your heart was pumping in your chest and you were out of breath. So was Haldir. But you both smiled and laughed at each other.
“That wasn’t so bad,” You said. “I enjoyed that.”
Haldir was still holding your hand. “You aren’t such a horrible dancer, (y/n)” He teased. You cocked your eyebrow at him.
Haldir slowly leaned in closer and you closed your eyes. You felt a small pause then a soft kiss on your cheek. You opened your eyes and looked at him, disappointed.
Haldir laughed. “Did you expect anything more, (y/n)?” He teased, still holding your hand. “Sorry to disappoint you.”
You scoffed. “Of course not, you buffoon! But you ruined the moment-”
You were surprisingly cut off by another kiss, but this time, it was placed on your mouth. You felt time freeze and your heart was beating so fast you thought it might jump out of your chest. You couldn’t think straight at all in that moment, but you knew you should hold the kiss a bit longer for a few moments. The kiss was cut off after what felt like a long time, but you wanted it to last longer. You stared at a very red faced Haldir.
“You were saying?” Haldir said. Then he looked away and could not look you in the eye. “I apologize, (y/n), that was reckless, and I wasn’t thinking. Please forgive me. I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore-” You cut him off with a hug.
“Haldir, no need to apologize.” You smiled. “Thank you for kissing me. Now I know you actually return my feelings.”
“Yes, really.” You hooked your arm in his. “Now, lets go back. It’s getting late and I’m getting tired.”
“You ruined the moment.” Haldir mocked.
