A Guide to Decorative Concrete
Decorative concrete is a great way to brighten any construction project, building – including homes and commercial – and any luxury outdoor area.
Concrete lasts a long time, and hardly ever needs to replaced when laid properly. However, just throwing down concrete around your pool, home, or in your business’s office or lobby isn’t aesthetically appealing.
A way around the dull aesthetics of regular unfinished concrete, while still maintaining the longevity and strength of using it, is by having a company perform a decorative concrete service for your project.
Decorative concrete can come in many forms, including stamped, stained, stenciled, and even tiled. If you’d like some professional information on these, check out MARs Construction. We will introduce you to the different forms below:
Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete is concrete that is laid down and then stamped with in imprint. These imprints can be anything you really desire. Most concrete contractors have premade blueprints to make things fast and easy for you and them, however many of these concrete professionals will be willing to design a new stamp for you.
Using stamped concrete adds a beautiful dynamic to any indoor or outdoor project. Whether you have the stamped concrete around your pool to add to the fluid movements of the water, or the project done in a business lobby to tie in with the existing architecture, it will add value to your property and result in long-lasting flooring solutions.
Stained Concrete
Believe it or not, just like wood, concrete can be stained. You can also have the concrete contractor add color to the concrete before it is laid. If you’ve ever seen homes with dark brown, rich colored flooring, it was probably colored concrete.
After making a decision as to whether or not to color the concrete, the concrete is then laid, allowed to set, and stained. The stain will give it a finish that brings out the color diversity in the concrete, and make it even more aesthetically pleasing. Usually the concrete professional will add an additional finish for a smooth gloss on top.
You can even have stamped concrete stained, so the possibilities of concrete design are endless.
Tiled Concrete
Tiled concrete is concrete that is laid in tiles, allowing for a tiled floor look without having fragile tiles placed, or linoleum tiles placed. Just like other concrete flooring projects, these last for a very long time.
Also, having tiled concrete does not mean it can’t be colored and stained – you can have the concrete construction company color the concrete and then stain it once the tiles are finished and set. This achieves a highly refined aesthetic that many homes and businesses don’t have.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is a great idea to include decorative concrete flooring in your next home renovation or commercial building project. You can achieve a luxurious look that lasts much longer than traditional flooring, and looks a lot better than plain concrete.
