Liveng (Hedgerows) - this quaint quilt-like patterns divide farm lots, protect crops from wind and animals, control erosion, host migrant birds, and provide wood and reeds for domestic use. These constitute sustainable agriculture in Batanes. Reeds are also used as ceiling materials for vernacular Houses. We did not get the chance to explore the Songsong Ruins as it started raining heavily upon leaving Honesty Shop. Songsong Ruins displays the remnants of of an old settlement which were destroyed bu a Tsunami i the 1950s. Residents where given homesteads in Mindanao (Malaybalay City) by Pres. Magsaysay under his resettlement program. (at Songsong, Batanes, Philippines)

Built in 1784. The only church in Batan with a separate bell tower. Iti s here where Katipunero revolutionaries commanded by Captain Perea landed on 18Sept1898 to liberate the province from the Spaniards. Located in front of Ivana Port. (at San Jose de Ivana Church)
