and i wish more ppl actually knew the real story behind this photo as apposed to the stories and ideas that’s been laid on top of it. it’s a really important time in x’s life. x wasn’t at the window protecting himself against cops, the kkk or otherwise in this photo. he was protecting himself from the nation of islam who he denounced after he left. this is a critically important thing to know about this photo because it speaks to x’s total journey as a human being. instead of captioning this image with “by any means necessary” knowing what was actually happening in this moment, i would caption is “it be your own niggas.“ however i digress.
