āwe are not sex fiends, we are internet fiendsā
all i can think about isā¦well, mostly iāve been thinking about a lot of normal shit lately (which is much better than only being able to think about where to sleep and how to eat): how are my meds doing, my job sucks but it sucks just enough to be tolerable, iām probably not gonna be on the street this winter, etc. Ā of course iām always thinking about *some* bullshit: obsessively thinking about how noone does the dishes in my house besides me and my girlfriend, how iām so very much more rrighteous than every person i have a resentment against, how drinking booze and smoking pot are totally getting me by right now.
i mean if i were to say iām always thinking about all this stuff and to not say iām always thinking about gender, actually would be a crock of shit. Ā iām pretty much always thinking about my gender, whether itās who can tell iām trans, who doesnāt care that iām trans, why am i trans, but lately iām thinking about what it is to be a person who experiences transmisogyny and an artist. Ā like what does it mean for me to be writing this right now. Ā
iāve been thinking so much about what my gender is, what it is about being someone who experiences transmisogyny, is womanhood something i can/want to/should bother wanting to experience, and what is the reason i have to have such a complicated relationship to gender. Ā ifuckinge if i could have just been whatever weird girl kinda genderless thing from the beginning, there would be no questions about it, right? Ā so why are we here, where there have to be all these questions? Ā iām thinking about gender and transition and what does it mean to be an artist and a healer these days and why talk about this stuff.
because of fucks like harry benjamin and cis voyeurism. Ā because of the literature written about us and no one will publish our own. Ā
unless of course we are cis passing, normie good little trannies who will tell you how itās totally not weird or cool or anything to have tits, who will tell you how theyāre all good and happy and just like the cis now and they almost never think about being trans.
the whole idea of transitioning is terrible and terrifying and murderous and bloody and yet itās the only framework we have. Ā transition. Ā from one to the other. Ā transition is defined in the oxford dictionary asĀ ātransitioning from one gender to *the other*ā Ā from one to the other, for fucks sake. Ā not from one to none, from one to any possible other.
the fact that iām supposed to set about on this path to go from male (proposing i ever was a male) to female is to mute the existence of trans people. Ā quite literally, the way harry benjamin would decide if we were Really & Truly Trans, the same way publishing companies only support the hegemonic myth of transition.
transitioning is a myth. Ā no one goes through that story book bullshit. Ā except for rich, white, straight, neurotypical women. Ā mean while a weird girlish agender thing who is crazy af and has a felony like me, can hardly afford hir hormones, is not always sure sie wants a vag and can hardly think about anything besides gender, my story only comes through lately in little and in bits and pieces of a broken transmission.
we must destroy the myth of transition. Ā we must destroy the idea that there is anything to transition from or to. Ā transition is something finite. Ā i am not finite. Ā i am infinite. Ā
stories of the infinite are not what sell. Ā it is up to our own infinite selves to displace the myth of transition. Ā through publishing and curation, collaboration, loud voices screaming, and new infrastructure by us for us. Ā and of course, this demands new language. Ā we need the spaces in which to loudly be speaking these new words and uncovering our new language.
we are not finite. Ā the myth of transition is a tool to desecrate and maintain our power. Ā we are healers, witches, cavants, and seers. Ā we see the infinite and we see beyond a future of retelling the same stories. Ā we see the destruction of transition and with the destruction of transition, we find trans liberation.
we will write, we will create, we will publish and promote, we will love and support each other and we will be free.
