Whatever. Suzy knows she's going to find out eventually, hell, maybe they both do. She's gotta find out eventually.

She keeps stomping out the thought of doing more snooping, even if it does feel like the only way to dig deeper on her own.
She doesn't even know where to begin expressing this all to her psychiatrist. Suzy starts writing in an old diary again, finding it helpful. The lock is missing, but she doesn't care enough to replace it.
She's not scared of getting caught; she's not scared of Marty finding out. To her, that would honestly just make things easier.
If he caught her, he would be caught right back. Suzy knows he wouldn't cut contact over stealing some tapes, and she hopes Marty still knows she can keep a secret.

About 3 months into knowing each other, Emmett, outside of works, starts staying with Clara. He says he wanted to because āit's safer,ā and Clara also starts getting the hint that she might be the only person he can put his trust in.
In 1886, after a year of knowing each other, Clara finally asks Emmett to be honest with her.

Despite a lack of gun knowledge, Clara's confident her and Emmett can devise a plan that will end with her victorious, and with no major repercussions to the future. However, she mostly just wants to get the hell out of Hill Valley 1887, they both do.
So on Thursday, they disguised themselves and held up a locomotive. It's basically the Part III plan but it's just Clara and Emmett in, like, a rusty steel cart instead of a delorean.
They travel to 1963.
The āDr. Clayton & Prof. Brownā Days:
They start a *new* life in 1960s Hill Valley by moving into Emmett's mansion, which is a mess, but thankfully still there.
Clara had salvaged the flux capacitor from the time machine. They got it hanging like it's a cross, but like, in a god-fearing way. It's kinda freaky.
Rumors arise about them, of course. They're seen as āodd," but in a way that's unknowledgeable about the time thing.
They start inventinā and scheming. Clara's inventing, Emmett helps her inventing (with distance,) and they're both scheming. This is when Clara takes on the āDr.ā honorific.
They need to find a way to make money. Clara's first idea is to start teaching again, but since her records can't really be checked yet without reading a big āBORN 1845,ā she needs to figure out a way around that.
This is when Emmett takes on the āProf.ā honorific. People may talk, but he's still got a clean enough record to get a job teaching a college astronomy course.
He never shows up, instead āgetting a substitute,ā which so happens to always be Dr. Clara Clayton.
She still has that habit of bringing up time travel to her class, but this time it's a bunch of stoner and hippie college students.
She's got a bit of a āCool Teacherā reputation.
Unfortunately, teaching just barely pays the bills. This is where Clara's second job comes in: Selling inventions on the Black Market!
Her workshop is in the garage, she even likes rebuilding/fixing up some of Emmett's old inventions from 1955 and prior.
Surprise! In 1964 the teaching job is now Clara's alone. They hired her on the spot without checking because she showed up everyday, and they were just so, so, so fed up with Emmett's bullshit.
They renovated a little, and there's now this space next to the house that can fit a small building.

Well, he passed peacefully this time, but it's still a tragedy.
And, no shit, it hits Clara the hardest.
She retired from her teaching position, feeling a lack of all her previous investment.
The deeper she gets into depression, the more this sorta āCreepy Old Widowā urban legend is formed in Hill Valley.
The ironic thing is when she's losing interest in almost everything from Astronomy to Horse Races, she begins feeling even more passionately about time travel.
It's something her sons have notice.

Seeing Marty at her door gave her the same shock a near-death experience she had at 40 did.
She had scribbled down the concept of a brand new time machine awhile ago, not planning for it to go anywhere, and definitely not planning to start it this soon.
She tries to make sure Marty feels no pressure or rush about traveling back. Telling him āit's going to take a long time to build,ā or ādonāt worry, you weren't even part of my original plan.ā This is going to be different from how Marty actually feels sometimes.
The āDoc & Martyā dynamic is a bit off here. Doc cares for Marty, of course, but she's a retired teacher and has already raised two teenage boys. Clara has no interest in filling that familial replacement role in the typical Doc & Marty dynamic.
Maybe she'll start supplying him with testosterone, though. Typical Doc & Trans Marty.
She begins leaving the house again. Going on walks, getting some sun, stopping by her own video store, maybe even stargazing, all that stuff.
That āUrban Legendā of hers begins dying down. She's now seen as just a regular, pleasant, older woman. Lets hope they don't ask her about the vending machine missing from Clayton Video.
She also might start Black Market selling again to fund the Vending Time Machine. Don't Worry About It.

Clara being employed is so insane to me thank you Mallory you gave her jobs PLURAL. Especially since her interest and curiosity is so natural to her character I love how you really played with that and allow that part of her to flourish really. Especially with how you addressed the whole how is she gonna teach a century in the future thing. I joke about her being unemployed a lot cause sheās shown working once. In a comic. Like you never see her teaching a class except for the one time

5. When I started reading this earlier today I had to put the phone down when I read about doc telling clara the truth. Because the trust that she has for her is so touching despite the facts of the situation. AND THE WAY CLARA REALLY PONDERS THE NOTION NOT JUST OF TIME TRAVEL BUT OF MARTY SOMEONE SHES NEVER MET BUT MEANT SO MUCH TO THE LOVE OF HER LIFE DOR THE REST OF HER LIFE JUST SPEAKS VOLUMES OF HOW STRONG THEIR CONNECTION IS NO MATTER THE UNIVERSE NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCE AND NO MATTER THE TIME.
6. I also had to pause at Clara taking docs death the hardest. She built an entire life with doc they raised two kids, they traveled through time and they just were each others lives for so long I really had to take all that in. Itās really just like losing a part of yourself especially after so long at least this doc died peacefully Iām glad she got to be there with her for so long. Sighhhhhhh

George and Lorraine don't get their kiss at the Dance; Marty fades out, but George and Lorraine falling in love isn't undone. In 1985, a recently-divorced Lorraine Baines and a never-married George McFly rekindled at their high school reunion. They moved back to Hill Valley together and had a ādaughter,ā Marie Baines-McFly, who was born in 1990.
Basically:
Marty ends up being born later, but Doc has already died before the chance of them meeting (again) comes up.
Marty also has the worst trans-awakening at 15, after getting a job at the Brown-Clayton Family's Video Store.

Panchito is actually my favorite caballero but no one knows this because I never draw him š.
His birth is considered āa miracleā in Lorraine's circle because her friends assumed she had gotten ātoo oldā for a third kid.
He was in this weird āconstant freaked out stateā that he didn't really break out of til' he was eight.
His parents are more involved in his life than Twin Pine George & Lorraine but also, like, in a way they're not really involved enough?
Marty's kinda careless. He has a habit of losing his house keys that he doesn't plan on fixing because he knows George or Lorraine are gonna get him new set tomorrow, the next day, the day after that, and if not that then someone's gotta let him in eventually.
He winds up not having many close friends except Suzy (Friend Since Elementary School, In Love With) and, despite what he thinks, Doug (Unrequited Rival, A Little In Love With.)
The Marty name was actually first given to him as a nickname from Suzy.
Lives "blissfully" unaware of the Twin Pine timeline until 2005.
Okay, so imagine how out of place and weird TP Marty would already feel in LP, then turn that up to 11.
Yes, compared to his peers he's uncool. Yes, he's getting bullied (it's slightly worse this time.)

One day when he's in detention, there's just this job advert for a part-time position that landed on his desk.
He doesn't see it on a corkboard in the hallway, no, he sees it on his desk, when he's in detention. It's suspicious, but it's for a video store.
The idea of taking the job so he'd have an excuse out of detention enters his mind, he gets so bored in there though. It's straight home afterwards.
Plus he already makes money as a bootlegger (Video Piracy Included) (Parents Not Involved Enough!)
October 1st is the next date he has with detention, planned.
At lunch he tells Suzy (& Doug) that he can't hang out with her after school (on her date.) They all seem pretty down about it.
Later, when he's walking to his āstation,ā he sees them walking down the steps outside together.
Seeing them together, and close, always causes Marty to get this āundescribable, sickeningā feeling.
Not the first time, nothing new. Not the first time it makes him spontaneously react, either. This time he dashes to the nearest fire alarm and pulls it. He's so normal.
Starts running right before he can hear doors opening and people shuffling around. He's got all that purple ink on his hand.
Makes it out of school and the job advert pops back up in his mind. He starts running in that store's direction.
What store was it? Clayton Home Video, of course!
Despite coming in covered in sweat and of breath, he's hired right after a small interview.
Andā¦ he's starting tomorrow, too?
His employer (name-tag just reads āVern-oā) seems very laid-back, also seems to be the only person working there. Marty thinks something's off about him, he just can't articulate what exactly it is.
But, it seems like a nice job.
He's even able to take home a few videos of his favorite movies! He wasn't told he can, but there's nothing wrong if he brings them back tomorrow, right?
Tomorrow, October 2nd, 2005:
The job excuse works this time. He gets out of detention, beginner's luck.
He walks into his first day on the job with his Walkman Portable CD Player, he's listening to some Fall Out Boy.
The store is pretty much empty, even the vending machine is gone.
His boss is having an argument with some lanky guy who brought in a box of tapes by the counter.
He doesn't want to get involved, so he quietly returns the movies he āborrowedā and starts restocking the candy.
The argument doesn't catch his attention until he hears one of them say āMarty,ā which is strange because no oneās ever really called him that outside of Suzy.
Thinking this might be about him stealing, he takes off his headphones and goes āwhat's everyone talkinā about?ā
They immediately go quiet and start looking at him with, like, the craziest bug eyes ever.
Marty's given the box and sent home early, being told to āstudy itā by, who he now knows as, his bossā brother.
Oh great, he's already behind on his homework at school, the last thing he needs is all this on his first day at the new job!

Well, fuck, I guess.
So, what's in that box is actually *everything* Twin Pine Marty had recorded.
Able to exist in this timeline thanks to the āClara Brown Archival Retrieval System!ā
And with the help of the āClayton Video Convertorā I'm sure they can get you some of those on a disc, Marty!
So yeah, safe to say he doesn't get much (any) sleep that night. He spends it glued to the screen, watching what seemed to be nothing at first, turn into something, wellā¦ Horrifying.
By the time he should be getting up for school, he's rushing to cut his hair in the bathroom then heading out the door, straight for the Video Store.
He gets introduced to an elderly widow named Dr. Clara Brown; the owner of Clayton Home Video, his boss' mother, and someone who lives right next door.
They're both shaken to their core by the stranger right in front of them.
He's in her living room until 4 P.M. asking her all these questions; about the tapes; about time travel; about this boy; about this old man heās never met before; about these people who look too familiar; about what it all means.
Doc *tries* to answer them all, but she's especially quick to give the answer to his biggest, and possibly scariest, one:
āYes, that boy behind the camera used to be you, but he faded out of existence.ā
The Doc also shares that it's possible she will begin rebuilding her deceased husband's time machine and with a vending machine, the one that was in the video store only two days ago.
Heavy.
Marty ends up leaving with one question for himself, and one that just gives him even more questions:
āShould I go back and fix it?ā
The Debate Begins!
Something good happens to Marty: āHaha, yeah, I think I'm good.ā
Something bad happens to Marty: āPut me in that vending machine, baby!ā
Sometimes it's like: āThat boy sounds like he's a lot happier than me.ā
Great, he's already questioning his sexuality, now he's GOTTA question his gender too?
Wait, I've been calling him Marty this entire time? I've been using he/him and nothing else? His dad gave him the middle name āSeamus?ā No way!
Now he's restless all the time, even taking small slips back into that 'freaked out' state.
To be honest, he was always depressed.
When asked if something's up he has to answer by going āno, I'm good,ā āit's nothing,ā āI'm alright, nothing's wrong,ā or āwould you mind calling me Marty? It's nothing, just trying something out.ā It's really impacting his relationships.
Starts (poorly) cutting his own hair every 3-4 months.
Behavior is either slightly less, or sometimes more, riskier than it was before
Some kind of weird version of survivor's guilt for Twin Pine.
Has always been passionate about music but now, he's like, suspiciously locked in on getting better at the guitar.
