First (and I hope not last) post on this blog is my entry for the @magiciansfanworksextravaganza's event:

Time is an Illusion

inspired by 1x01 Unauthorized Magic for the 10th anniversary of its first airing.

It's my second work in The Magicians fandom and the first I've published since coming back to...digital artwork? I guess?

Anyway, some detail:

Quentin's bag, Eliot's waistcoat, the two little grass bushes, and "You're late" lettering are all mine.

The repeated "late" in the background is meant to recall intrusive thoughts, an insistent word floating around in your head, a classic occurrence if you have anxiety and are socially awkward (like me Quentin).

I had several other ideas for this artwork, but I don't have the skills (yet). For example, not to make it too queliot-centric, I wanted to add Julia's hands sparkling with magic, but heh. Maybe next time.

I didn't realize this was about indoor cats until the very last one because I've heard dog owners say this same shit so many times.

Anyway, yeah, keep your cats indoors/in a catio/on a lead and don't let your damn dogs roam around or bark constantly, either.

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.

Ages ago, I remember seeing this kind of projection of how the world would look like without advertising and marketing. It was grey, dull, straight out of a dystopia.

After seeing what happened to the Internet and the world in general in the last 10 to 15 years, how aggressive and pervasive advertising has become? I don't believe for a second that without ads the world would become dull.

named after the legendary 24 hour Le Mans race, Lemons rallies barely legal cars in an endurance race across America. had the privilege of sharing the freeway with this race and seeing the absolute art od this event
