I had a professor who would ask as a type of thought exercise: "What difference does your difference make?" The asker was a lovely, loving, and lovable mentor and friend, who demonstrated through voice and action just what difference his difference--his unique perspective and motivation--made in the world....and it continues to do so, long after his death.

Why am I telling you this? Because I simply want to affirm that each and all of our differences make a difference; that our voices, even when all sounds cacophony and dissonance, remain important parts in a still-composing, still-being-improvised-and-invented, score.

That out of such chaos, creation comes.

But to make that difference, our differences gotta find some way out into our sensate world--we make our way forward feelingly, after all.

Which is to say in practical terms:

Write.

Call.

Step Out.

SPEAK UP!

I don't know about you... but I'm ready to keep constructing communities of welcome!

I'm ready to keep building upon the good work of Tuesday's elections;

to keep ramping up the positive energy and calls to action we heard--and spoke!--at the recent No Kings weekend;and I'm rarin' to keep forging forward with the tough, necessary, and community-creative efforts we need to take up so that we might all move towards places of fuller flourishing!

Many thanks to Ingrid McIntyre and Laura Kigweba and to the faith leaders of the Southern Christian Coalition for their speaking-truth-to-power voices, and for allowing to join them. Thank you to my @tnequality colleagues Chris Sanders and Brian Sullivan for their front-and-center presence.; and to Kelly Thomas for presence and affirmation (and video, natch) from the before the beginning.

I remain deeply grateful for the work of @maximal_mandy and the amazing teams with Nashville Indivisible, Indivisible Sumner County; along with folks like Eve and Ethan and all those who volunteered with UVOTN/50501nashville!You helped create a day for the memory books, and an energy that will help keep us activated for a long time to come.
