He’ll avoid it for a while, but he’ll come around once he’s really certain about it. He expects rejection or to be not as good as someone else (his older siblings are the ones he would expect to be the “better” choice), so for a while he won’t do anything. He’ll know how he feels, but he’ll delay telling the person until he’s certain person will either let him down lightly or perhaps not at all.
Until he’s actually admitted it, he’ll deny it for a while. If nobody brings it up, he of course won’t have to, but if someone were to point it out then he would contest it to them. Especially because of wartime, it makes feelings far more difficult for him, and someone could die at any time in a battle, and there are other things that need to be worried about. If he believes he has a shot at returned affection, he’ll go for it after waiting a while, but Takumi never really expects to quietly settle down.
Overall, he would keep working and doing whatever he can, so keeping a low profile and settling down is pretty much out of the question. He wants to be able to prove himself and have a place among his family that goes beyond just being family, though he would definitely want down time and someone to relax around when the day was over. For him, peace and quiet don’t go hand in hand, so there will always be things to do for him even if he’s with someone.
For the most part, he just wants to have a completely normal life - the same as any civilian. For him, part of being in love would be being able to experience an average life, and even though he’ll hold back for a while at first, it’s something he wants. Love isn’t the first thing he’s trying to pursue, but it’s something he hopes shows up along the way.
